Can Tejada be a reality?
If its worth anything, on a sportscenter update on ESPN 1000, Bruce levine was quoted as saying the Cubs and Red Sox are the front runners for landing Tejada.

Can Tejada be a reality?
http://www.orioleshangout.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28747 The Orioles Board has a big thread going off this same rumor. They think both offers are crap. Interesting to read Baltimore's opinion. They all say Tejada is a top 5 player in baseball, which I completely disagree with. I can name 10 players I would rather have. Johan Santana Albert Pujols A-Rod Vlad Ortiz Derek Lee Andruw Jones Miguel Cabrera D-Train Texeira

FutureSox cited by ESPN.com
that is pretty sweet. So, I guess ESPN reads futuresox.com.

Can Tejada be a reality?
Who the hell is Alex Woodson and why would Baltimore possible want a rookie ball pitcher. According to mlbtraderumor.com Sox have two offers on the table for Tejada. Option 1: Jose Contreras, Juan Uribe, and one minor league prospect for Tejada. Option 2: Brandon McCarthy, Juan Uribe, 20 year-old southpaw Alex Woodson, and another minor leaguer for Tejada. In this scenario, the White Sox would get cash back from the Orioles in the third and fourth years of Tejada's contract.

Can Tejada be a reality?
MLB Trade rumor is interesting, but I wonder how this guy got his info and if it is legit b/c Levine has good Sox sources and said they are looking to trim payroll. But maybe the Sox are being coy in case they don't they don't get Tejada.

Grissom to sign with Cubs?
Grissom hit .212 in over a 100 at bats. If they are giving him a major league contract, Jim Hendry should be fired on the scene.

Baseball Toaster Garland Article
The man is a moron. Jon had a 3.68 something ERA the second half of the year, which in the AL is solid.

Odds and Ends
Reynoso is Damaso Marte x 2, walks nearly a hitter per inning. This guy is nowhere near the major leagues. Munoz can get buy because of his dynamic curve. I would rather him be the second lefty.

Jon Garland signs a 3 year extension
QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Dec 28, 2005 -> 02:16 PM) agreed. They will use him like they used Buehrle in 2000. That is the right thing to do. Buehrle was only used that way for one and half months in 2000. McCarthy will be used the whole season, which I think could be detrimental to his developement.

QUOTE(BlackBetsy @ Dec 28, 2005 -> 12:57 PM) I don't get this estimate. My own estimate is about $90 million: 2006 1 Konerko $12.00 2 Buehrle $7.65 3 Garcia $9.00 4 Contreras $7.00 (Yankees pick up $2 million of $9 million salary) 5 Dye $5.00 6 Vazquez $9.00 (D-Backs pick up $2.5 million of $11.5 million salary) 7 Thome $7.50 (Phillies pick up $5.0 million of $12.5 million salary) 8 Hermanson $3.00 9 Mackowiak $2.50 (Sox agreed to pay difference in Marte/Mack contract) 10 Iguchi $2.40 11 Podsednik $1.90 12 Politte $1.20 13 Uribe $3.15 14 Widger $0.65 15 Anderson $0.35* estimate - club control 16 McCarthy $0.35* estimate - club control 17 Ozuna $0.50 18 Jenks $0.35* estimate - club control 19 Cotts $0.35 20 Crede $2.00* estimate - arbitration 21 Pierzynski $4.00 22 Garland $7.00 23 RP $1.60* estimate - free agent 24 OF $1.00* estimate - free agent 25 IF $0.60* estimate - free agent Total $90.05 Crede will make more than $2 million more like 3.

Jon Garland signs a 3 year extension
QUOTE(jphat007 @ Dec 28, 2005 -> 12:54 PM) Ugh. I hope we don't plan on trading the starter that starting the first game of every series in our playoff run. He is going to be one of the best pitchers in the league this year. Ugh. WTF was the point of trading for Vazquez then. We could have just given his money to Contreras and signed JG. Contreras is old and we don't know what the 2nd half last year was: his true potential or a flash of something. We need the insurance since our team is built on starting pitching.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Dec 28, 2005 -> 12:51 PM) Just think, the Sox payroll is now almost half of the Yankees. Imagine if Kenny was given 2x more payroll. He would have this team even sicker.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 28, 2005 -> 12:41 PM) Does anyone else think that this suggests KW may seriously be considering running a 6 man rotation for at least a month or so? it's interesting considering the workloads, but it would throw off our starters rythms

Jon Garland signs a 3 year extension
Kenny keeps upstaging the Cubs and I love it.

Jon Garland signs a 3 year extension
Mark must love this move, too. Now his best friend is signed longer than him.

Jon Garland signs a 3 year extension
Score said that Sox payroll were in the high 90's as far as payroll. I know Kenny wanted to keep it low 90's, so it makes sense that Count would go.

Jon Garland signs a 3 year extension
We could trade Vazqeuz who would still bring something good in return. But it likely that Count goes or we have 6 starters.

Jon Garland signs a 3 year extension
QUOTE(beck72 @ Dec 28, 2005 -> 12:22 PM) The sox could turn around and trade Jon. With him signed for 3 yrs at a reasonable amount, he'd bring a boatload in return. One thing is for sure, having both him and Jose are a luxury few teams can afford The sox would really look bad doing that. I am pretty sure Kenny has no intention to trade a 26 year old pitcher with now a reasonable contract that won 18 games last year.

Jon Garland signs a 3 year extension
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Dec 28, 2005 -> 12:16 PM) I thought that was just as a free agent signing. this is a contract extension. i could be wrong though. I don't think there is a rule for FA or extensions unless there is no trade clauses. I know though you can't trade a draft pick for year or something like that.

Jon Garland signs a 3 year extension
Now, there is no reason to re-sign Count. Kenny will probaby look to trade Count for some relievers or just keep him for this year and let B-Mac pitch in relief, get some spot starts and be ready for 2007.
-
Jon Garland signs a 3 year extension
Wow, Kenny got his message through to Garland. This is so cheap for what he could have gotten.

Buehrle delivers, with happy returns
Mark is the man, I hope he pitches the rest of his career for the Sox.

How to fix the Bulls?
QUOTE(spiderman @ Dec 27, 2005 -> 03:30 PM) Do you see what decent big men like Mohammed are getting in the free agent market ? ? This is the 1st time the Bulls will have some money to spend, and I don't want to spend a large portion of it (possibly 6-7 million at least on a long-term deal) for an average big man. I'd rather wait, and eventually use that extra money on a good big man or use the cap space in a trade. You can't wait becuase in the summer of 2007, we will have to resign Kirk and give other contracts out which will hit the cap hard. This is the year we spend on FA so that we can go over the NBA's soft cap to resign our own players. We were built for this summer to spend.
