Official NBA Playoffs Thread
It's funny how Marion's so good. Dude's got such an ugly shot, but it's always worked.

Springer nails Bonds, Fans appluad
QUOTE(fathom @ May 17, 2006 -> 12:01 PM) f*** that....that was total horses*** by Springer. If you're going to throw at someone, throw at their back. He threw three straight pitches well up and inside that could have hit Bonds in the head. Of course, I'd expect nothing less from a team coached by a douchebag like Phil Garner. Yeah. I'm not a fan of Barry, but there's no way you can defend what Springer and Garner did here. Absolutely classless.

the positive parts
The Boone Logan jokes can now stop! But seriously, like Tony said, this offense doesn't show quit. With the exception of the playoffs, last year's team never showed the capability to really do what they did tonight.

Official NBA Playoffs Thread
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 16, 2006 -> 10:43 PM) Heat going to the ECF. Vince Carter TOOK OVER the game in the final minutes but they couldn't get him the ball on the last play. I cannot f***ing STAND this Heat team. Good. I hated that Nets team. The Heat and the Mavs are the two teams I'd be happy to see win it all.

5/11 Makeup game....
I don't think anything has been announced yet.

Boone Logan...
Well it looks like his little "fan club" has dismembered now.

Crash just another great Rowand moment
Solid piece. It's a good summary of what Rowand means to Sox fans.

Pujols
Very sweet Goldy. I love Pujols. He's like the Michael Jordan of baseball right now. Though he's on another team, I think the guy's just awesome and have no problem liking him.

GAME THREAD 5-16-06 SOX vs RAYS
QUOTE(aboz56 @ May 16, 2006 -> 04:03 PM) From the Sun Times: Yep. I don't want to see him go more than that. He'll be a starter sooner or later, but don't do anything to hurt his arm on this one start. This season's already got to be weird for him, after being a starter all his career.

AL Central Central
QUOTE(Benchwarmerjim @ May 16, 2006 -> 03:49 PM) you all are Twins fan for the next 3 games, for its Min at Det (if there is not any rainout) Santana pitches tonight Haha, I sure am. At least take the series from them.

That's pretty neat.

GAME THREAD 5-16-06 SOX vs RAYS
QUOTE(SnB @ May 16, 2006 -> 03:51 PM) It was about time someone did one. I refuse to let myself start one for obvious reasons Haha good. I'm superstitious about it too. I have yet to make a game thread, since being a member at SoxTalk. I don't want to break that. Anyways, I'm excited to see BMac get the start, and to be playing Tampa Bay. Though it's only the Devil Rays, I look forward to these series outside of our division, since they're so rare now. And as Boz stated, BMac better have a tight leash when it comes to the pitch count.

Which sweep is sweeter?
QUOTE(SnB @ May 16, 2006 -> 03:52 PM) I gotta admit, I'm kinda looking forward to kicking them while they're down. Same. I wasn't interested in this series at all last year, but I'm excited for it again. However, I'm the farthest thing possible away from Cuck the Fubs. My priorities are always in our division, and not with the Cubs.

Twins finally take their head out of their ass
QUOTE(MHizzle85 @ May 16, 2006 -> 02:59 PM) and with the sox luck we'll get him and johan in the same series next time around Welcome to SoxTalk!

Who is your favorite player from 80's, 90's, and 00's?
I liked a lot of the players. There's really only a handful of Sox I haven't liked, since I've become a fan. But if I had to pick one favorite player for each year, it'd be the following: 1992 - 2005: Frank 2005 - Present: Crede

Expectations for this season
I love the way we're playing; it's great to see the Sox picking off right where they left off. As far as expectations, I believe it's WS or bust for this team. However, I still can't shake that feeling I had coming into the season; I just feel we're going to disappoint as far as that goes. It's weird that I can't shake that, because as many of you know, the glass is always half-full from my perspective. So I don't know what that means. It could be that I'm more than 100% behind the statement that no victory will be as sweet as '05's. Or it could just be trying to come with the realization that one of my teams has won it all; it feels like that stuff never happens. It's hard to put into words what I'm feeling on that. With all that being said, I would have absolutely no problem with the Sox proving me wrong.

I still don't understand what took them so long.

Pods heating up
QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 16, 2006 -> 11:49 AM) You act like he's the only one who said Pierre sucked. I must say his 65% SB% was quite sexy and his .320 OBP is just perfect for a leadoff hitter. Honestly, anyone who watched Pierre play last year and still thought he was good is a severly dillusional person. Plus Jeckle believes anyone not named Aaron Rowand sucks.

What are the Odds?
QUOTE(spiderman @ May 16, 2006 -> 11:02 AM) Don't the White Sox have an option on Iguchi ? Yep. And I see absolutely no reason to not pick that up right now.

White Sox Pitching Falters; Sox Struggle On the Week
Haha I have no idea how that song got in your head. Someone on IU’s baseball team used that as their at-bat music. I never got to see the Haeger start either, and I agree that he appeared to be awful. But you can’t deem his start over after one start. That story Mario told about the rainout was pretty rough. Since the Sox aren’t selling out every game yet, I agree that a voucher to a future game would be more beneficial to the fans. Garland is struggling right now, but I believe he’ll get back to where he was. He’s just got to get back to going inside on hitters, because that was a big reason for his success last year. And it seems like the issue is always going to come up, but BA’s improving and showing a lot of promise. There’s absolutely no reason to give up on him, by trading or bringing up someone else in to start CF. The Padres-Rockies breaking news Kalapse would definitely love that Mike Caruso shoutout at the end. The quips between you two at the end of the radio show = solid.

Doug Flutie retires
QUOTE(Goldmember @ May 15, 2006 -> 02:24 PM) flutie's a standup guy. pretty sure we'll be seeing him in the booth or hopefully in a coaching position in the not too distant future... http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2445409 He'll be an analyst for ABC and ESPN.

I have a lot of respect for Joe Crede now
If he keeps hitting like he has, he'll certainly get that gold glove.

Frank Thomas Injured?
QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ May 15, 2006 -> 06:13 PM) Not to digress, but is Frank actually injured? (That was actually the point of this thread at one time). He has not been in the line up for a couple of days and I am hoping to see him at the Cell. Yeah. It's just day-to-day though; I haven't seen anything to where they think a DL stint is necessary. We'll have to wait and see.
