QUOTE (The Critic @ Nov 26, 2008 -> 04:41 PM) McDonough is really borrowing from the bag of tricks he used at his last place of employment: http://www.secondcityhockey.com/2008/11/25...t-getting-ridic A book about finally becoming relevant again? How about we hold off on the gushing literary works until this team actually accomplishes something on the ice? totally lame. -
QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Nov 25, 2008 -> 08:21 PM) I wish I could post this for everyone to see, but I dont think its possible with this movie "poster" Terminator Salvation bad ass

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 24, 2008 -> 02:22 PM) I didn't care for the ending at all. Was this supposed to be based on Scorsese "saving" DiCaprio's career with Gangs of New York? I dunno, to me you build a whole season around one theme - Vince's career is heading south and on the verge of being over. You build a great scene with Vince and E, where basically Vince blames everything on him, you see them separating, perhaps for good. You see E becoming successful on his own, ignoring Vinces calls (basically getting over the situation and cutting himself off from the drama), and then in the last 2 minutes you wrap it all up in a neat bow with a seemingly random call from Ari, a quick flight to LA, and all is forgotten. This show has never gotten back to a good pace since the first season (where it had none, because it was all about regular dudes getting rich and hanging out with hot women and doing things all guys dream about). These last two seasons have been long stretches of uncertainty followed by 2 minutes of resolution (good or bad). And if their point was to show that things can change suddenly, why not have some dialogue about that? Why not set the audience up for a possible turn of the switch at some point? Instead we're led down this path that Vince's career might be over, E might start something great, Turtle is banging some hot chick, and drama buys a bar (does anyone else wonder why he hasn't been shooting his TV series? And then boom. Career is back on track. I dunno, I just don't buy it, much like I didn't buy Ari turning down the studio job to "be his own boss" followed by two episodes of him having to talk and swindle his partner into accepting a new employee. I think that's a really fair analysis. What I will say, in defense of the writers, is that you only have 22-26 minutes to tell the story and ultimately there has to be a point where things get resolved more rapidly in real life. In all likelihood things wouldn't have worked out this way, but I think in order to move the story along and to introduce new elements into available plot lines... you kinda needed to tie things and put vince down a new path. I would say the path they chose was a little too much of a leap for my tastes, it would have been a little more authentic if Vince got a smaller part and perhaps generated some supporting actor Oscar-Buzz, and then made a triumphant return to a leading role in a Scorese film.

QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 24, 2008 -> 11:56 AM) Liked the episode, but would of ended the season with Vince firing E. Would of created a cliffhanger of sorts. I thought that the writers were going to leave the audience hanging on that note, but I think they made the right choice by settling things up. This season has been such a downer, and so humbling for the crew that if writers had ended the season with Vince firing E... you depress the s*** out of the audience and lose the appeal of the show, that being a group of friends banging chicks and making movies.

Great Finale. It saved the season for me in some respects. The scene where Vince throws the phone was the best acting by any actor on the show, not named Jeremy Piven. Adrien Grenier is usually a little blah, but he rocked that scene. The scene with turtle and jamie-lynn at the end of the episode was absolutely priceless.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 22, 2008 -> 05:43 PM) Kaman would be a great fit and would fit in with the core. I'd even trade Deng in a package for him because Deng is really not fitting into the current system (and I love Luol). Kaman/Gooden is a legit 4/5 combo with Rose a legit 1. You'd than just need to find the 2/3's and those are typically the easiest positions to fill on the court. Deng is obviously too much, but a healthy Hinrich and Tyrus Thomas or Noah plus a pick could intrigue the Clippers. Pax got lucky with Rose, but the real challenge will be to build a competent team around him. The next time the Bulls contend for ANYTHING, I have a feeling that the only remaining name from this current roster will be Rose. Pax needs to turn this roster around, but he must make sure that the players he brings in don't gum-up the roster even more than it already is. Gooden is an expiring contract, and he can actually play... he will be valuable around the deadline. What will Pax do with him? Try and parlay him into some talent, or allow him enter FA and try and create some cap room for the 2010 FA class (Larry Hughes comes off the books before then too IIRC). These decisions will make or break the Paxon era.

This was a win that playoff teams get, you have to be impressed with the job that Q has done thus far. The defense has been shaky lately, but otherwise we're clicking on all cylinders. -

Those two videos are hilarious, seriously... amazing marketing, not cheezy, not lame, really creative and well done. Bravo! -
QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Nov 21, 2008 -> 11:48 PM) Actually, he took a knee to the hip/groin area (judging by his reaction it was the latter). Looks painful but not serious, If I had to guess I'd say he misses one game tops. whew, i caught the end of that sequence and saw him holding his right hand... thank god the only reason to watch bulls basketball wont be missing any games (he said that last night).

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Nov 20, 2008 -> 05:12 PM) Try some St. Louis style pizza when you're in town and see if you feel the same way. There is STL style pizza? who knew?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 21, 2008 -> 12:07 PM) It would be interesting to see what the Hawks would be doing if MCD had not have been hired. Better attendance, but not near the attendance levels they are at currently. It's one thing to put games on television, but MCD and his crew have really revived the brand. If Hawks relied on the people they had before MCD... things wouldn't have improved this drastically. Kane and Toews obviously have had an effect too, but MCD is making them household names in Chicago. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 21, 2008 -> 10:33 AM) When Buff leaves, the toughness on this team takes a s***. See I don't see Bubba as a tough player, yes he has ability to absolutely annihilate people... but its not a consistent part of his game. Maybe its partly because he's never found a real defined role on this team, but he's just not consistently reliable in any aspect of his game... when you couple that with his below average skating ability, he's not that valuable. When you have Ben Eager out there, he is consistently flying down on the forecheck and causing havoc in the offensive zone... he's not the heavy weight that Buff is, but i'd rather have him laying the body than buff because he has integrated that part of his game more so than Buff -

The thing that bothers me about the need for Nylander is... we had Robert Lang, who imo is exactly what this team is missing. We had to trade him because Dale overspent on a goalie, who by all accounts has played decisively worse than the overpaid goalie we already had. You might say that the competition has spurred Khaby into "Good-Khaby" but I think the fact that he was in a contract year has been more incentive than anything. Oh well, I think this is a playoff team regardless... but moving forward were still in a sticky cap situation. BTW.... Eager > Buff. Eager doesn't have Bubba's big shot, but he is an impressive skater, uses his body more effective, and will probably contribute just as much offensively. I like Bubba, but I'd rather see Eager on the third line moving forward. -

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Nov 20, 2008 -> 11:22 PM) It's the definition of a short-sighted trade. While I have enough faith in the organization to say comfortably Tallon won't be here by the time Toews-Kane-Keith are up for contracts, whatever GM inherits this cap mess is going to have quite the time finding a way to get the kids locked up. Oh,and I don't totally buy into needing a ton of team toughness, especially in the "New NHL", but a trade of Nylander makes this club baby-s*** soft up front Versteeg-Toews-Kane Sharp-Nylander-Havlat At least if we get Nylander back, we also get his sweet spokesperson skills... who can forget "MAGIK ENERGY DRINK" I can't. -
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 17, 2008 -> 10:52 AM) I don't, but I'm also a DePaul alum that got his JD almost a year ago and am still looking for a job. Your firm isn't looking to hire is it? I'm a 1L at DePaul, small world

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 18, 2008 -> 07:26 AM) You do not know what you're talking about. If you like the Elder Scrolls games by Bethesda, you'll probably like Fallout. There's plenty of game play and story in this game. Yep. Except its a lot better than Elder Scrolls.

its a great show, an interesting spin on the vampire myth... The acting is kind of blah at times, but it delivers week-to-week. I am a little worried about the the story of the show moving forward, the show is based on a book and im not sure if it will be as clever as seasons progress.
