  1. Idea from the Trib.... Last shot of the game, who ya got, Rose or Gordon? if the game was tonight, I'd say Gordon -- as long as he doesn't have to dribble or create for himself.
  2. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Feb 12, 2009 -> 09:51 AM) Well, we could replace it with "Pau Gasol" or "Kevin Garnett", there have been too many no brainer trades that the Bulls didnt jump on in the past couple years. Any time a trade doesnt happen, GMs always insist it was just speculation, but where there is smoke, there is fire I agree with you for the most part, and I am not a Pax apologist. However, it does seem like Pax was on the wrong end of some bad timing. When the Lakers got Pau, they were able to get him for expiring contracts because the Grizz (for whatever reason) decided they'd rather have the cap space. When Pax was in negotiations for Pau they wanted Deng et el... now you can argue he should have pulled the trigger right there, but at the time people were a lot higher on Deng then they are now (too high on him). I'm not exactly sure what happened with KG, however, Al Jefferson is a better player than anyone we've had on the team since MJ. It's hard to make an argument that the T-Wolves were silly for taking Al Jefferson over a package of Deng, Gordon etc... Again, I'm not going to sit here and make excuses for Pax... I think he's made a bunch of mistakes, and he probably is too gunshy for my taste, I'm just not sure how much you can really blame him for some things.
  3. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Feb 12, 2009 -> 08:33 AM) Nah, its the second biggest no brainer. Kobe was the first maybe its positive spin coming from the bulls people... but from what the media has portrayed, the Lakers were never seriously considering moving Kobe. If thats true, than the only thing you can blame Pax for is not killing the speculation earlier -- because it obviously had an effect on this team early on in the year.
  4. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 12, 2009 -> 09:22 AM) That could be a good pickup for someone, that guy was all over the place last night Kovalchuk is probably among the top 10 forwards in the league... he's essentially a PPG player for his career, he just plays on a perennial loser and in a place where there should be no hockey team.
  5. QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Feb 11, 2009 -> 10:05 PM) You and pax both. buyer's remorse... I dunno, if we were trading Tyrus and he had already put up 2 solid seasons and looked like a future all-star (or close to it) I'd be more hesitant to pull the trigger. However, Tyrus hasn't been that consistent, has skipped practice, does look lost on offense at times, and has run hot and cold. We're not trading Elton Brand for Tyson Chandler... were trading a guy who has "potential" and has gone undeveloped for the past 2+ seasons. Amare is legit, young, and will playing in his 4th All-Star game in what 6 seasons? I'm sorry he's not Kevin Garnett, but he's the best we can get, and if it fails you can let him walk and try to find another impact player in 2010 (not a great idea). I'm still on board.
  6. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Feb 10, 2009 -> 10:29 PM) Trade value keeps rising at the most opportune time for both. As much as I think Tyrus or Noah could flourish as a pure defender with Amare, I would still give both up for him. without a doubt. Tyrus looks good (besides having 5 TO's) but he just doesn't have the inside presence that Amare does, and I don't see him ever getting that comfortable in the post. Amare is 26 and will still be in his prime when Rose reaches a level of stardom.
  7. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Feb 10, 2009 -> 10:01 PM) I think some type of cancer. it was really upsetting to see him in such a weak state... didn't see that coming, and not the way I remember Red-head.
  8. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Feb 10, 2009 -> 09:11 PM) I know right? Totally odd song choice It's my life was an odd/inappropriate choice... choosing "knockin on heaven's door" would have been worse. MJ gained some weight, it makes me sad.
  9. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 9, 2009 -> 04:35 PM) Personally, if I'm getting Beasley in the offer, and that cap space it's a done deal. So either that offer was complete BS or as you stated Amare ain't goin' nowheres. Exactly.... the Suns aren't getting a better offer than that. If they turn that down, maybe they are just trying to jumpstart a sluggish team my threatening to break it up.
  10. On an extremely positive note... if this thread was titled OFFICAL 2005-2006 NHL THREAD wed be discussing who had more offensive talent between Calder Bell and Arnason. Thank god thats not the case anymore.
  11. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Feb 9, 2009 -> 01:07 PM) JT reminds me more of a Rod Brindamour / Joe Sakic type of player. Havlat has more offensive skill but less defensive skill obviously. Toews is already one of the best 2 way players in the game. well said. I would also say that Kane has more offensive skill than JT does too... but again, not nearly the two-way player that JT is.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 9, 2009 -> 11:36 AM) Kane I wouldn't argue, Toews I would. The guy is a special player, and moreso than Havlat IMO. JT is a much better defensive, team player... when it comes to pure offensive skill, Martin Havlat is one of the best in the league. Thats not to say that he's anywhere near as valuable as JT... but he is a specialty player who has amazing hands, a wicked backhand, and the ability to snipe with his wrist shot from pretty much anywhere inside the blueline. Put a body on him... hes not as good. In the corners, not as good. Give him space, let him get the wheels moving (although he's not nearly as explosive as he was in 06-07) and he can do some SERIOUS damage.
  13. QUOTE (shipps @ Feb 7, 2009 -> 03:15 PM) who are you again? your title is in light pink I have a hard time reading it. oooo you whippersnapper, if I could take administrative action against you... I would.
  14. this is why I don't post more... you guys are jerks.
  15. I won the award in 2003, so my vote should count for 50 votes... I vote for myself -- even though I was somehow left of the ballot.
  16. QUOTE (shipps @ Jan 14, 2009 -> 01:51 PM) The funniest poster award should just be called "The Critic" award. So technically it will be the second funniest poster, otherwise critic will win every year cause he is the man. *Cough, Cough* who was the 2003 funniest poster award winner? I forgot... oh no wait I didn't it was me. Boom goes the dynamite.
  17. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 6, 2009 -> 07:50 AM) Our netminders are just ridiculous. I hope that the closer we get to the playoffs... Q gives the lionshare of playing time to Khabby, because he's the guy I want between the pipes come playoff time. Huet has recovered from a miserable early season slump, but Khabby has in my mind played himself into the starting goalie role for the playoffs. Not to mention the guy already has already won a cup, and played in a bunch more playoff games.
  18. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 4, 2009 -> 11:16 AM) Martin Havlat reminds me of Luol Deng. Different sports, but they are indeed both classic 3rd guys that can really produce in a spot like that, but if made any more important, they flounder. I was very impressed by the Hawks performance last night, the score isn't indicitive of how good they were. I think you guys are correct about Havlat thriving when he's not the center of attention... but Havlat is probably the most talented offensive player on this team. I would bet that he leads this team in points by the end of the year. When you get a chance, look at some of his highlight reels... they are simply amazing. Havlat's first year with the team, we were playing .500 hockey and he was near the top of the league in points -- until he got hurt. That's what keeps him from being "the guy." His shoulder kept him out the majority of last year because he did not want to get surgery on it... he did and he looks a lot closer to the 06-07 version we saw -- he's even become more of a team player IMO. If you can keep him at a reduced rate... you definitely do it
  19. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Feb 7, 2009 -> 01:35 PM) Only if the fit works, if he doesn't fit in then you gotta let him go. I love your avatar... look how high up Rose gets for that block. He's such a stud.
  20. QUOTE (SoxFan101 @ Feb 6, 2009 -> 09:40 AM) A core of Amare, Deng, and Rose would definitely be pretty appealing. The only downside is it felt like Tyrus was starting to finally come into his own, even Noah has been improving as of late. Tyrus has cock teased us before... if you can get Amare (which we wont) you trade anyone on our roster except Rose and maybe Deng -- who has really picked up his game the last month.
  21. This kid put up some serious numbers down in the minors... if he can play, I hope that Ozzie gives him a shot.
  22. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 31, 2009 -> 11:43 AM) They are useful to keep rabbits out of your garden. No green intended. brown intended perhaps?
