  1. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Nov 5, 2008 -> 03:12 AM) Just want to make a couple points... 1) Though I don't agree with much of Obama's economic policy, he is the 44th President of the United States of America and I have the utmost respect for the man. He seems to be a genuinely good guy. There are definitely some important things (e.g. education) that need to be addressed in our country and I hope he can lead us in the right direction. I just hope he has the balls to not let crazy-ass Pelosi and other wacky dems dictate the next 4 years with a democratic congress. If he doesn't agree with some of their radical bulls***, then he needs to say so, though it will be hard being in the same party and all... 2) I'm sorry, but if you cried when Obama was announced as the victor and you weren't on his immediate staff or a family member, that's just ridiculous. All those people crying looked like fools at the Obama rally. I would never have cried if McCain was elected. I understand being happy, but tears of joy are over the top. I agree with you on point 1 and disagree on point 2 1) I agonized who I was going to vote for, and decided to vote for McCain (knowing full-well he wouldn't win) because I disagree with Obama's economic policies. That being said, I am 100% supporter of Obama from now until I have reason to be. Barack Obama is going to be President of the United States, and he deserves the support of all Americans until (if ever) he proves unworthy of that support. I hope that President Obama is fair with his economic policies and is successful beyond anyone's imagination. 2) While I probably wouldn't have cried, I am really happy to see so many people genuinely enthusiastic about being a part of the political process. I'm not black, so I cannot fathom the amount of pride the black community feels tonight. I'm not going tell, or mock anyone who feels emotion over what was a truly historic night. Black or White this did represent the affirmation of the American Dream for many... My feelings on the GOP: George Bush ruined the brand. The amount of pettiness, the disregard for the constitution, the big government, the scary foreign policy choices, all of it... he just led the country in a poor direction, ruined his legacy, and took the GOP down with him. The GOP supported Bush in a lot of these decisions and they are rightly paying for their mistakes. I consider myself a moderate (economically conservative, socially liberal) and I think the best way for the GOP to get attract voters like myself is to be more pragmatic about the traditionally conservative issues (abortion, gay-marriage, evolution, gun control etc...) and to get back to the fiscally responsible politics that brought many to the party in the first place. That is not to say that the GOP must ostracize the social conservatives in the process, but rather be more receptive to the fact that there is a decidedly gray area in between the yes and no answers the republicans have proposed for the last 8 years. anyways, I liked reading this thread. congrats to all the obama supporters, but more importantly God Bless America.
  2. I'd take Avery on the Hawks, the guy can play hockey when he's not being a tool.
  3. QUOTE (SnB @ Oct 30, 2008 -> 09:55 PM) that winter classic picture of those 2 is just plain weird they kinda look like two kids posing for a picture with the world series trophy or something... although they are in front of wrigley so we know that's not the case.
  4. Winter Classic Jerseys.... bad ass! Ugh, Cheli should still be wearing the indianhead.....
  5. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Oct 25, 2008 -> 11:44 PM) He really didn't. I thought Nik played a solid game, and made some huge saves. He got beat by some insanely skilled players. The give and go between Hossa and Datsyuk was absolutely sick... they made the hawks look like amateurs on that play.
  6. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Oct 25, 2008 -> 10:01 PM) Not surprising. He's a horrible person and only a horrible person would put something like that on his young daughter when it was his own mistake. Horrible person? Do Tell.
  7. Hawks - Wings this saturday! It looks like its going to be a great game, the UC should be rocking! Anyone going to the game?
  8. I actually cried during an episode of Baywatch... it was about a kid who had a father who was a dwarf and he was embarrassed of him. The kid told everyone his father was a professional athlete or something, and when his dwarf-father showed up... he told him he was embarrassed that he was his dad. You had to be there...

    Films Thread

QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Oct 23, 2008 -> 06:43 PM) I would disagree, but horror movie sets suck so f***ing much. Hated all of the Friday the 13ths I've seen Thought the first Nightmare on Elm Street wasn't too bad and Wes Craven's new nightmare was creative, but the rest sucked. +1 I've never been a big fan, but I do understand that there is a built in audience for these kind of films. I saw... saw I and either III or IV and thought they were pretty horrible. The idea in the first one was cool, but it lost its uniqueness by the time Saw 99 came around. I want to see CHOKE with Sam Rockwell if I can... I hear its supposed to be pretty crude, just the way I likes em.
  10. Larry Hughes is out 6-8 weeks.... is that a bad thing?
  11. Here is my Wonder Years moment --- cue dramatic music My dad doesn't know many baseball players... but he knows Don Slaught. I must have been pretty young, because we were watching a game where Slaught was catching for the Pirates, and he t took a foul tip directly off of his wiener. My dad started to bawl laughing, and on that day I realized that watching a man suffer an injury to his groin was absolutely the funniest thing possible.
  12. QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 22, 2008 -> 02:19 AM) Ha! Joel Skinner Marc Hill Mark Salas Mike Squires Own all. Don't forget Don Slaught
  13. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Oct 21, 2008 -> 09:49 PM) That reminds of when i was younger i went to a White Sox clinic and got Chad Kreuter's autograph. My adolescent mind thought that was just the coolest thing. Nice Guy, though Sure, he's a nice guy... just don't try and steal his hat
  14. Rose has some amazing hops! Still im curbing my enthusiasm just a bit... he was going against the Mavs' second stringers pretty much the whole 4th Quarter. There was a lot to be impressed with though, especially that shot from the baseline that gave the bulls the lead. I was worried that Rose couldn't hit a jumper, for at least one night he proved he can.

    Entourage

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Oct 21, 2008 -> 11:55 AM) You make good points sir, I think the writers have a doozy on their hands. I like the idea that vince's career is in the toilet... but I don't think they needed to take it this deep or this far off the main path. Also, what happened to the Kevin's deal with his clients... thats a pretty important side plot, and they've left that idle for 2-3 weeks now. I'm sure they will tie it up, but it seems silly that they left things so up in the air. But hey, writing good television isn't easy, or else we'd all be doing it -- so i'll give them a lot of credit.

    Entourage

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Oct 20, 2008 -> 11:04 PM) He won't take it so he doesn't piss off his wife who doesn't him working with Dana Gordon and so he could fully revive Vince's career. Also, if Jerry Ferrera is actually dating Jamie-Lynn Sigler... it should be enough proof that Bill Maher is right, there is no god. (kidding) --- yes I understand arguing the genuineness of a television character is waste of time. However, im an asshole.

    Entourage

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Oct 20, 2008 -> 05:40 PM) Also, is anyone more useless on that show than Turtle? God damn he's annoying. I've always thought he should be killed off, but when you think about it, every real-life entourage is probably full of Turtles who contribute nothing to their successful friend and leach off everything. I'd just wish the writers would make him less of an idiot. Nothing more pathetic than a small, fat, gangsta wannabe friend who talks s*** and does nothing with his life. Also, Turtle is supposed to hook up with Jamie Lynn Sigler? GMAFB!

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Oct 20, 2008 -> 01:57 PM) Gotta say, last night's epsiode was definitely the best of the season so far, and probably one of all time for mine. So much in comedy and plot development (with Ari). The bit with E and the model, brilliant. It was a good episode, but this season has been particularly slow to develop... I wish they would stop treading water and get the story moving in one direction. Vince has already had, and turned down two jobs. Its getting to be boring.. I understand that the show can't move the story forward 100 steps each episode, but this is getting to be silly.
  19. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 20, 2008 -> 12:17 PM) Note the reason... I saw I saw... I still went there, should have been in green. Up yours Seneca Wallace!
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 20, 2008 -> 10:26 AM) I really did like Kane trying to get him a freebie at the end of the game. I think he was initially looking for Sharp, but then saw Toews and tried to hook him up. Oh for sure, it was a totally cool to see that. Its one thing to do it when your playing as a kid in travel hockey, but in the NHL where Goals = $$$ having Kane do that is truly a selfless act.
  21. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Oct 20, 2008 -> 08:57 AM) I know here at ISU we had a pink-out against Texas last February for breast cancer awareness. ISU would....
  22. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Oct 20, 2008 -> 09:56 AM) Any major changes anyone who can watch the games can see in terms of style / strategy with Quenneville as coach instead of Savvy? Admittedly, I didn't watch the game that closely... but from what I did see, it did look like they were playing less dump and chase. Considering our team is small and agile (at least our talented players are small and agile) it makes sense for them to carry the puck over the line than to send them in to get their heads banged in.
