Dont Stop me Now -- Queen

QUOTE (SoxFan101 @ Feb 25, 2009 -> 02:03 PM) The only thing Paxson failed to deliver on in the deadline was unloading Hinrich, if he did that and got expiring contracts in return id be behind him 100%. That being said, this Bulls team is definitely playoff quality now, and should be next season as well enough time for Paxson to make his big splash in the 2010 free agent market. If he fails that off-season to land a big player, he has to be gone. I think you have to grade Pax based on his drafts and his FA signings... the trade stuff is too hard to gauge accurately. I mean, how do we know there was an actual possibility to move Kirk? If nobody wanted Kirk... how do we blame him for being unable to move him? I'm not sure thats fair. However, his drafts have been from good to bad 03 -- Hinrich -- Kirk is a solid but not spectacular player. he will basically be an expensive but great back-up PG for DR1. 04 -- Gordon, Deng -- you have to say this was a good draft for the franchise, these two guys have played as above average NBA players and help this franchise make the playoffs for the first time since the Jordan years. 05 -- no picks 06 -- Tyrus, Sefolosha -- as of today... you'd have to say this was a pretty big failure. Pax traded Aldridge for Tyrus and LA has outplayed him every year. Pax passed on Brandon Roy. Sefolosha is gone, never played consistently, and will likely result in a pick lower than where he was drafted. 07 -- Noah -- issues off the court, inconsistent on the court, the book is still out but Noah's ceiling doesn't look particularly high. 08 -- DR1 -- we got the top pick, Pax chose wisely. FA SIGNINGS Ben Wallace -- paid too much, this move set the franchise back when it didn't work out. Malik Allen -- no comment Joe Smith -- played well for half a season, didnt have much impact Adrian Griffin -- no comment Andres Nocioni -- Noce gave solid effort the entire time he was here. He was erratic, but he was a cheap signing initially and along with the 04 core helped get this franchise out of the cellar -- so noce is probably Pax's best FA signing Overall you'd have to give Pax a failing grade, because the moves he has actually made have been poor more often than not. The lack of trades might be because we dont have many quality assets to trade! That you can trace back to Pax, but as was stated... he'll have to make better in 2010, convince a bigtime FA that Chicago is a good choice. my .02

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Feb 25, 2009 -> 01:49 PM) http://www.nba.com/games/20090115/CLECHI/recap.html The Cavs also lost to the Wizards in the regular season... do you think they would avoid a sweep? I don't. I think LeBron would up his game and terrorize us for four games and our season would be done. I just don't think we'd win a game or make it a series against the Cavs with Lebron and Mo Williams.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 24, 2009 -> 05:33 PM) Link This is why baseball is awesome, and why this group of whitesox are easy to love. I think Ozzie understand the importance/tradition of the game, the history of the organization, and is willing to f*** with anyone. These qualities rub off on the team, and for the most part... they all seem to get it.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 24, 2009 -> 11:18 PM) Aside from the loss against the Pacers (lots of new faces) the Bulls have been playing very well since getting healthy (ie, Hinrich and Deng back playing well). Hinrich is a huge upgrade as is a healthy Deng. The Bulls are going to make a run and get a playoff spot and they might even win 2 playoff games. I agree... if they can get the sixth seed (only 2 games back right now) I can see the Bulls taking a game or two from Orlando (without jameer nelson). We won't win a game against Boston or Cleveland though.
-
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 24, 2009 -> 10:00 PM) The Bulls are such an up and down team, very odd to watch. Hopefully they stablize a bit with the trades and can play a bit more consistent. Since going on a five game losing streak in mid January... the bulls are 8-4, including wins over Denver, Orlando, New Orleans, and Detroit). It looks like they are trending upward. (bulls lost by a combined 17 in the four defeats) I think we're looking at a playoff team, not that it will mean much.... but, I can't see Milwaukee hanging on for much longer, New Jersey is hard to figure out, and the Knicks are still pretty discombobulated.

QUOTE (rangercal @ Feb 24, 2009 -> 04:03 AM) 30/7/7 his last 5 7 rebounds for a guy who is 5-9 180lbs... Eddy Curry -- 6-11 290 has only averaged 7 rebounds for a season once in his career.

Nate Robinson had 41 pts tonight and is averaging 29+ since the all-star break... ridiculous.

Marvin Harrison is going to be released in the next day or two... think he would come to the bears? I'm guessing not, because were not really ready to contend (on paper) and he's from Philly and could play with McNabb rather than Orton... not a hard choice there. Also, If I've offended Marvin Harrison in anyway I apologize and pray that he wont use karate moves on me, or shoot me. -

QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Feb 19, 2009 -> 09:01 PM) This recent road streak has me convinced the Hawks are an elite NHL team. Not Redwing elite, but damn good. I'm not sure I would tag them as "elite" just yet... the only ELITE teams in the NHL are Boston, San Jose, and Detroit. The hawks (like a 3-4 other teams) are a good if not great team that could win the cup if Khabby/Huet get crazy hot, and the kids forget they are kids and produce consistently in the playoffs. -
ESPN to launch Chicago sports site

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Feb 19, 2009 -> 11:39 AM) That and the Bulls. The way ESPN promotes the s*** out of basketball and no coverage of hockey tells you the bias they have toward sports they cover. Mike and Mike will be at the Bass Masters Championships tomorrow. Need I say more. They run a business... and have done a pretty good job thus far, I can't complain too much. -
QUOTE (chw42 @ Feb 20, 2009 -> 04:27 PM) The Thunder must have really liked Thabo... How in the world did we get a first round pick in return? It'll most likely be a lottery pick or even a top 3 pick. Wow the Bulls have had it good for the past two years draft-wise. This team better be something next year. The Thunder traded us the pick they received from the San Antonio Spurs - lottery protected -- so will will likely get a pick in the lower 3rd of the first round.

Brad Miller still has two eyes.... WIN!

QUOTE (daa84 @ Feb 19, 2009 -> 04:34 PM) so right now our depth chart looks like... PG Rose/Hinrich/Hunter SG Gordon/Roberson SF Deng/Salmons PF Thomas/Thomas C Miller/Noah/Gray better than it looked 2 days ago.

Viciedo looks like a football player, just goofing around with a major league baseball team.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 19, 2009 -> 12:44 PM) I'm not sure it makes sense on its own either. Thomas is the Ugh we already know, I'm sure he's looking forwards to playing with the Bulls. James hasn't played since December and is out for the rest of the season with a Ruptured Achilles tendon, and I doubt he has a Contreras like work ethic to come back before next season starts. nicley done

Burris tried to raise money for blago at behest of blago's brother
MurcieOne replied to bmags's topic in The Filibuster
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 18, 2009 -> 07:25 PM) Burris' entire political career has been losing elections, or finding a way to bumble into an office because others around him fall apart. well he holds the distinction of being the first af-am to be elected to statewide office in illinois... why not just accept that and smile like a dips***? This guy is brutal. -
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 18, 2009 -> 07:22 PM) From ESPN http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?p...kRoundup-090218 I'm not going to lie, Bosh teaming up with Deng/Thomas/Noah/Rose would be pretty badass. I'm sold. So what do we until 2010? Anyone have a deck of cards?

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Feb 18, 2009 -> 06:57 PM) f*** it, he can have it if he signs with the bulls, If MJ says its ok, then ok. If MJ says no -- then no

QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 18, 2009 -> 04:03 PM) The only person I blame is Blago and Burris. They are scum. Truth. I cannot believe someone would try so hard and ruin his legacy/integrity, just to be a lameduck senator for two years. Henry Burris is a Retard. -
I like the Brad Miller fit, because you can run offense with Brad Miller -- he can pass the ball and isn't a liability in the post like Noah. we shall see how this all works out.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Feb 18, 2009 -> 03:39 PM) mmm, maybe we can get Peavy and Roberts while we're at it? I'm fine with this move if it actually improves the team, but after this Amare/Bosh fiasco it's hard not to see any other deal as anything but a move for the sake of a move. There have been a number of teams interested in Salmons, considering we already have Deng --- is it really that far-fetched to think that the bulls would want to send him elsewhere -- especially when there has been a lot of interest in him around the league?
-
QUOTE (DBAHO @ Feb 18, 2009 -> 03:21 PM) Just saw this; maybe we send Salmons somewhere else in a three-way trade?

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 18, 2009 -> 01:43 PM) Rene Bourque is having a fantastic season for Calgary (20 goals, 19 assists, +18). He had a pretty good rookie season IIRC and was ok when on the ice last year, but i'm a bit surprised he is staying healthy and playing so well up there. I'm not sure how much playing time there would have been for him down here anyways though. When Bourque was here.... he couldn't finish to save his life. He could have led the team in scoring his first year if he could have finished off a play around the net. He has a rocket slapshot, and after getting a skate to his neck - im glad he's doing well.
