  1. QUOTE(Wealz @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 11:38 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You're happy with the Vazquez deal and the Contreras signing Dorf? I was happy with the Vazquez deal at first, but he has not lived up to expectations I am happy with Contreras even with the current concerns with his health, something you are not aware of. The Garcia trade then signing was worth it because of his efforts in 2004 and in 2005. KW must've known something as well because he tried moving him this offseason. I have never been a fan of Garland, didn't like the deal he got, but he can continue making me doubt him as long as he wins games I wanted to see Buehrle extended during the season, but with his current stretch, I am currently having my doubts. For next season; Trade Garcia to the NL. He has always been an AL pitcher, so many teams have not seen him before, and off the top of my head I recall him pitching well in interleague over the years especially against the Cubs Can't trade Vazquez because people will think KW and the Sox are admitting it was a bad trade. People wanted to cast Contreras out of here during this time a couple of seasons ago, but after some adjustments he turned out to be terrific. KW has always had it for Vazquez, and he was not brought here to be a one year mercenary. Could trade Garland, but you need to have a lot of confidence in Contreras' health, Vazquez's ability, and another rookie or journeyman pitcher because I can't see Freddy on the Sox next year. Don't really see the point in trading Buehrle because his value is low and he's only signed for one more year. There is currently talk about the CBA eliminating compensation picks as part of the next agreement (like around July of 2002 when the Sox got nothing for Durham) so there's really no point for a team to trade for Mark unless they are assured they can sign him to a long term deal.
  2. QUOTE(Wealz @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 11:26 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So you're ok with having Contreras locked in through 2009? Hey, KW should be the GM for however long he wants to be after winning a World Series, but some of his moves since deserve to be questioned. Yes I am fine with Contreras being under control for that long because: A) He got a below market deal B) he enjoys playing here C) He was very vital to our World Series run D) I have always been a fan of his even before his great 2006 start when you mysterously weren't posting while Contreras was 9-0 and on the All-star team.
  3. QUOTE(Wealz @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 11:23 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It was not in place last year, you're wrong. At the end of last year they were obligated to 2 years of Contreras and Garland. Today, they are obligated to 8 years od Contreras, Garland, and Vazquez. Not too mention relinquishing a very good prospect in Chris Young to get Vazquez. Huh? Garland had one year of arbitration left. Contreras had one year left on his 4 year deal he signed with the Yankees BACK BEFORE the 2003 season with the Sox payin $6 million You said the same things about Jeremy Reed when he was traded for Garcia. I'm not saying Young won't being anything, but how exactly would he fit in the Sox's current plans? Guillen won't play Anderson everyday, and Pods is always out there. We just called up Sweeney, Owens is on the way, and Fields has been seeing some OF time. Dye will ahve his option picked up (a whopping $6 million. STUPID KW wrecklessly spending the chairman's money and Mack is signed for a few more years.
  4. QUOTE(Wealz @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 11:12 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If I'm not mistaken, the Sox have the second highest paid rotation in MLB and aside frpm Contreras' stint on the DL earlier this year, no one has mussed a start. Nice return on investment, Kenny. GMAFB! It was only a matter of time before one of the chairman's cronies came on this board and talked about financials. Look at how the rotation performed last year. For 2006, the only guy whose salary is questionable is Vazquez. The Yanks threw a ton of money at him, and the Sox are getting some from Arizona to help cover the costs. Supposedly KW tried to trade Garcia in the offseason, Garland is only making $7 or $8 million this year IIRC, and Contreras got a below market value after the way he pitch from August on in 2005. Isn't it time for you to start another "If the sox miss the playoffs, should KW be fired?" thread Wealz? Last year the Sox took off after that thread.
  5. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 10:38 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> One of Rongey's old high school teachers has to call him up now and say how great he is. Rongey needs to get his confidence back. Rongey is just going through a tough stretch right now.
  6. QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 10:25 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Grounding out weakly to the left side. Flying out weakly to the left side. Striking out looking. Misplaying fly balls. Do I have to keep going? Ha. Who hustles harder down the line when they hit it to the RIGHT side of the field? EDIT: Well either side of the field
  7. QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 10:25 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Pods changes the game when he gets on base. That's the way I see it. Those other guys dont. Pods doesn't get on base though. It's like saying I make $500 dollars an hour, but I don't work a single hour a week. 0 times anything is still zero What's wrong with Mack in LF and BA in CF? Didn't BA have a good average against Hernandez coming into today's game?
  8. I hate game threads like the one today. My ignore list has reached 31.
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 09:49 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I can't remember the last time Cintron got a hit. HEY OZZIE....PLAY OUR f***ING STARTERS! Um, the grand slam against the Royals in the game where Contreras gave up a bunch of runs? Too bad it wasn't tonight's game.
  10. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 08:20 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Good thing we locked up Contreras for 3 years. Little early on this one aren't we? :rolly:
  11. QUOTE(Steff @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 09:39 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Does it really matter? To some (like Hangar,) yes. I added "just sayin'" for a reason. So why exactly was Woo-Woo let into the bar over real Sox fans during the World Series? Just askin'
  12. Just sign Frank Catalanatto (or however the hell you spell it) and platoon him with a real right handed 4th OF or Pablo if push comes to shove.
  13. No mention of the owner being a Cub fan yet? Just sayin'
  14. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Aug 30, 2006 -> 10:27 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Only thing that sucks is that he's just playing himself into a bigger contract once he does become a FA. Who gives a f***ing s*** about the 2007 offseason? Seriously, should we root for guys to perform like s*** when they are in their arbitration years or are pending free agents? Alright Pods!!! Way to keep your price down
  15. Proctor was slow as s*** working that inning. f***ing idiot
  16. Rivera sits in the pen, yet f***ing Torre lets Proctor rot out there for 30 pitches or so.
  17. QUOTE(whitesoxin @ Aug 30, 2006 -> 09:04 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> 10 LOB in 6 innings. I don't think I've ever seen such a thing. What about Vazquez vs. the Yanks?
  18. I didn't see the pitch, but Miceli threw two straight balls to Gooch. f***!!!!
  19. QUOTE(shawnhillegas @ Aug 30, 2006 -> 06:09 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> ESPN says that in 101 innings, Jaret Wright has given up 46 hits and 131 walks. Is that possible? Yeah I thought that was f***ed up too. Buck Martinez pointed out the high walk totals and my jaw dropped. How many pitches did Rocco see?
