QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 07:38 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Step 1: Remove whomever that hell is that scruffy looking child molestor from your avatar. Step 2: Displace your fan loyalty from the White Sox to the immortal Seattle Mariners. Step 3: Repeatedly ask, "Where's our Liriano!!!1111 (or) "Tyler Lispcum", as Santo=Dorf would say. You also forgot step 4; preach about radar gun readings and strikeout totals. If the Sox were looking to move a guy like Javy Vazquez, wouldn't any right Sox fan want him to pitch well to improve his trade value and help the team?

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 07:18 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hey, you can contine sporting your superfan outfit and suggesting we "DON'T STOP BELIEVIN'" but I see no difference in how the season ends. Whether it's winning 8 of 10 or losing 10 straight. Hell, improve our draft position while we're at it. A good losing streak can help our position 4-5 spots!!!! Ultimately, I'm more interested in watching Sweeney/Fields/Haegar/Logan play than some veterans mailing it in the final week. f*** them. They had 152 games to prove themselves. Step off the field and let fans witness the future of this ballclub. I'll root for a Vazquez blowup if it means the remaining games are full of young prospects. What the hell does it matter if he pitches well with absolutely no pressure against a mediocre Seattle club? You obviously aren't a fan of the White Sox. This isn't the NBA or NFL. Draft postion isn't important especially when you consider how many draftees actually make it to the bigs, along with drafting HS players who might go to college, signability, and most important, scouting. I really don't get your obsession with minor leaguers. Why does Ozzie Continue with the Lefty/righty/lefty lineup orders when there is a lefty on the mound?

It would be nice to see Joe take a few more walks and stop popping up. People keep talking about his .290 average, but his OBP is actually less than Podsednik's.

QUOTE(alexgtp @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 08:05 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Still wish the Thome and Dye would hit homers with men on base. Ok, what happened during Dye's at-bat? Ok, what happened before Thome's at-bat?

Damnit Bobby, I thought I was going to see my third 1 hitter at the cell this year. I haven't loooked at the game thread yet, but I'm guessing there were quite a few "Get Freddy out of there" posts after the walk and hit in the first inning. Keep it up Sox. please :

I wouldn't go that far, but I'm all for moving him if he nets us a huge upgrade at short or LF.

WHITE SOX POSTGAME EXTRAVAGANZA!!!

Let the Fields lovefest begin. So does Bmac still have his name etched in stone for the 2007 rotation? -
So if it's the Sox's fault for falling apart this past weekend, how exactly did Frank "cement" his HOF spot this weekend? Frank had his spot waiting in cooperstown for some time now.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 18, 2006 -> 02:50 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah. That August OPS of 1.039 was really lousy. Worthless, really. OR a 1.005 July OPS that conveniently gets swept under the rug like Frank's Timo-like April. Who's the one being biased again?

QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Sep 18, 2006 -> 09:36 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thome was very Big Hurt-esque in April and part of May. He then regressed BADLY into an almost automatic out (barring a mistake pitch here and there). I havnt liked Jim Thome since June/July, especially in the 3 hole. Many rallies were stopped early on ......... The Irony here, is Jim Thome is more suited to the 2003 team than the 2006 SOX. YES, I know its unfair to compare him to Thomas, because I do like the R/L/R combo, but he isnt a Contact/UseAllPartsoftheField guy like Thomas was. How many times did we need Thome to at least get the runner over, or drive him in with a Sac Fly? Boy could we use a Frank Thomas type player on our team. Jim Thome: RISP: .327/.466/.701 61 RBI's in 107 At bats. For the sac fly argument: Man on 3rd, < 2 outs: .391/.459/.957 27 RBI's in 23 at bats. MORE RBI'S than AT BATS. Oh yeah, his second highest OPS in a month was in AUGUST. Sac fly totals: Thome: 6, Thomas: 5 Apologist my ass. If you can't see how good Thome has been this year or think he's only been good for April/May, you're either a fishing fool, or a Cubs fan. QUOTE(MSHAWKS @ Sep 18, 2006 -> 01:55 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You're not really trying to say that Thome is a better contact hitter than Frank, are you? His point was clearly Thomas was not a "contact hitter" in the year Hangar mentioned.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 16, 2006 -> 04:19 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thats because I think stats are over-rated in tons of situations. But thats a whole other debate. Ok, so how exactly would you like to conmpare and contrast two players? Switch eyeballs so we can both see through the same set of eyes? QUOTE(BearSox @ Sep 16, 2006 -> 09:14 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Also, whoever thinks Dye and Konerko are having "career years" are way off. Jermaine Dye is finally healthy and at the top of his game. He would have been putting up numbers like he is this year 5 years ago if he didn't have all those injuries. And Konerko has always been a very good hitter, outside of that one year. He has been getting better year after year. In fact, I am going to work on my "offseason plan" if I was the GM right now. Hilarious how people think Thome is injured or talk about him being hurt, yet you think Dye has dealt with injuries his entire life. Dye gets to keep a spot on the roster, but a guy who has historically always had better numbers, and this year has numbers close to Dye's is too injured and shouldn't have a spot on the team. So is Dye more injury prone than Thome?

QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Sep 16, 2006 -> 10:00 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Since he is admitting that his fastball just isn't there for him, can this finally end the stupid talk on this board that he has been choosing to throw softer on purpose? Finally. Umm, it makes sense to me. In fact, Freddy was the one who said it. He can't hit 93-94, but can only reach 88 or 89, so he decided to throw 82-86 because he gets more movement.

This thread is ridiculous In August his OBP was nearly 200 points higher than AJ's and Juan's. He had the second highest SLG% on the team in August. He also batted .329. Either some of you are completely full of s***, or get off on making knee-jerking reactions without looks at the facts to back up you claim. In September he still has the 3rd highest OBP and OPS amongst of all sox regulars. Some of you really need to check your Sunday paper for a "cluepon." :rolly:

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 15, 2006 -> 12:51 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Wasn't that a brutal trade for Theo Epstein or what. Anibal Sanchez and Hanley Ramirez say hi Rowand BTW. Red Sox fans are now spinning the trade becuase supposedly some asshole putting out a book claims he was in the room with that other dude (Lucchino?) was in charge, and he made the trade. Of course Theo was never really "gone" from the Red Sox, and if he didn't approve of the Beckett trade, why did he give him that $30 million extension?

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Sep 15, 2006 -> 10:10 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Bad decision from Dye. His MVP chances are diminishing by the day. Like the voters give two s***s about outfield assists MVP voting procedure: Does he play on the East Coast? Does he have a lot RBI's? Is his team good?
-
Frankensteiner, would BA have caught that?
-
Man, Chavez only has 66 RBI's. Remember all that talk about him actually making an all-star team?
-
GMAB Two of those pitches started high and ended high. We would not have done anything with a 2 out walk anyways. Oh, where is the "Frank Thomas isn't clutch because he didn't get the runner in from third after they just tied the game" post?
