Since Hangar won't do his own homework; 1st Half Thome: against RHP: .322/.433/.806 1.239 OPS in 180 at-bats against LHP: .257/.382/.394 .776 OPS in 109 at-bats 1st Half Thomas: against RHP: .262/.369/.530 .899 OPS in 168 at-bats against LHP: .152/.361/.500 .861 OPS in 46 at-bats Wow Hangar. A .152 BA. Shouldn't righties do better agianst lefties? 2nd Half Thome: against RHP:.321/.486/.621 1.107 OPS in 112 at-bats against LHP: .218/.326/.333 .679 OPS in 78 at-bats 2nd Half Thomas: against RHP: .301/.371/.568 .939 OPS in 183 at-bats. against LHP: .286/.452/.554 1.006 OPS in 56 at-bats. Hangar is to Jim Thome what the Tribune is to the Sox. Make your point, and avoid all the facts that may point otherwise. Hangar, are you on the SOX's side, or the Tribune's?

Hangar, why do you keep lumping June in with the second half? June was obviously his worst month, but he has been very productive in July, August, and September. But why let the facts and numbers get in your way? A .279 BA isn't low, but .238 is (Frank's BA in the first half) Magglio has a second half BA of .277 as well.

QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Sep 25, 2006 -> 02:07 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> NOPE. Jim Thome hasnt been right since June. Best hitter since June? I saw a low low average the 2nd half. I didnt say he was a "problem" for this team, I said he hasnt been right since June. Big Difference. Hes been among the best hitters in baseball during that time. Sure, as long as a lefty wasnt on the mound. We'll find out soon enough that he was hurt again ....... Do you even know what OPS is?

I agree with you on that the heaat and humidity has an effect on the Rangers players, but I don't think it is directly responsible for their big dip in offensive numbers. How would he adapt to the rain and cold during Arpil while playing in KC, Chicago, Cleveland or Detroit? Detroit is probably worse than Seattle, and Cleveland isn't that great with the huge wall in Left and Left Center. I don't buy the Anaheim reason either, because ever division has a tough team, and next year our division will have at least 3 (if you include us.) The guy has a career differential between Road and home OPS of .136 In his last season with Colorado (2004,) Vinny "Focking" Castilla had a higher road OPS (by 50 points too) than Michael Young has for his career.

September Numbers: Thomas: .267/.326/.651 Thome: .256/.436/.557

# of 's used by cuck: 44 I would take him as our left fielder for next season.

QUOTE(GoRowand33 @ Sep 24, 2006 -> 08:30 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> not going to happen chicago is too attached to the bears Although this would be a terrible time to launch a new franchise or welcome another team to move here, you never know what kind of shape the Bears will be in after 2016. Today someone told me they hate the Bears ever since they dumped Ditka and talked about how many fans cheered when the Saints played the Bears a few years ago. How many people in the Chicago area root for the Packers or Vikings because the Bears ran the Cardinals out of town? I know people who refuse to support the Bears because of the McCaskey's. You never know.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Sep 24, 2006 -> 07:44 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Seems like a giant waste of time to me. And what the hell is that 95K-seat stadium going to be used for afterwards? Are the Bears going to move? No other sensible use for it after the Olympics leave. I would welcome another NFL franchise.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Sep 23, 2006 -> 12:50 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Whats the point? That these guys can still hit away from texas.... And he has actually hit better now that he isnt in texas. So whats to say Michael Young wont? You're using a single guy's one contract year to try and make a point about Rangers hitter being able to hit away from Texas whereas I used more than 20 different guys who proved the exact opposite. Michael Young's career numbers say it's more likely he won't hit well away from the ballpark in Arlington.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Sep 23, 2006 -> 03:24 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> didnt soriano "suck" away from texas last couple of seasons too? Yes, but this year he is in a contract year and in the NL. What's your point? I posted in another thread the splits with ALL of Texas' players, and no surprise, they ALL hit better at home than the road. (With the exception of Teixieria whose power is down) Call me Mark Buehrle, but I'm sick of making point on Texas hitters.

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Sep 22, 2006 -> 06:14 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Also, Young would be going from one good offensive park to another. And we shouldn't care that he hits like s*** the other 81 games of the season because........? (I still have never received an answer explaining why it's ok for a guy to suck half the hear and how a player is guaranteed to put up the same or better numbers at USCF based on the 2004 numbers) Vinny Castilla was awesome in Colorado. Maybe we should bring him in to replace Crede (after we trade him or move him to short.) Dick, I posted the numbers before. With the exception of 2005, in all of his 6 years in the MLB his road OBP is very 2006 Podsednik-like. You tell me which year is the fluke: .329, .384, .320, .291 (100 point difference between home and away,) .287 He sucks away from the ballpark in Texas, period.
-
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 22, 2006 -> 03:10 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> but he is a guy who is on base a ton. Only in Texas. His road OBP is < than Podsednik's overall OBP this season. Think about it for a second, not that I wouldn't take Young over Uribe.

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 09:26 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yep...I'm sure a lot of them head right home to their wife. Only during home games.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 09:24 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You mean Mark Buehrle? Only if he changes his delivery to something like Dontrelle's, or Boon Logan's.

Maybe the Sox should look into getting some garbage, soft tossing left handed starters for next year. Mark Redman is a free agent. He made the Sox and Twins look silly.
-
Cotts comes in and the board crashes. Great game Javy even though you were charged with 5 runs and 3 ER.
-
What, exactly will booing accomplish? Kenny is already pissed with this team's performance. Hawk is finally starting to question Guillen and the players realize the position they put them in. Why stop with booing? Let's throw trash on the field and run after Neal Cotts after he gives up yet another 9th inning run. Let's show those Cub fans who means business!
-
Well, I was hoping Javy wouldn't lose on that one BS run. Come on Sox. At least do it for Javy.

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 08:33 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Anyone else just infuriated when Ozzie says "don't blame anyone else...blame me"? I thought he was saying "If we don't win, blame me." Uhh.....is Ozzie waiting for this team to fail? Why wouldn't he making changes NOW if he obviously sees it's not working?
-
QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 08:29 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Jim Thome for leadoff hitter? Instead of playing the young guys, I would rather see Ozzie have some fun and make the lineup drawing names out of his hat. It couldn't be worse than his typical vs. LHP lineup with Pablo/Gooch/Dye/Thome/Konerko/AJ/Crede/Uribe/Mack or Anderson Of course Mack goes down against LHP. Why not see what Fields can do in left? Do we really have to wait until we are mathematically eliminated?
-
Since I brought it up in another thread, I decided to look into it a little more. Crede doesn't walk at all. April: 5 May: 6 June: 3 (2 in one game) July: 2 (!) August: 4 September: 7 (3 in one game) Jim Thome. # of games with 2 walks: 17 3 walks: 2 4 walks: 1 Just some food for thought.
-
Cool. Another LH bat in the lineup. At least it isn't Pods.
-
Didn't Neyer have an article about how Crede and Uribe should win gold gloves this year? He is an ESPN analyst and a Royals fan.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 07:45 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Two things: - Crede's approach at the plate is just laughable right now. - Does anyone know what Thome is hitting against lefties since the ASB? Thome: .197/.310/.296 in 71 At-Bats Will somebody please e-mail DJ asking why he pronounces Ichiro's name like that?
