  1. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ May 18, 2006 -> 08:17 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Awful call by the ump. ...and of course, it backfires against us.
  2. God, I hate being beaten by chumps. Has AJ caught Vazquez yet this year?
  3. QUOTE(Texsox @ May 17, 2006 -> 10:32 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Santo, on the straight, you don't have to catch it in order, so the first card drawn could be a J or a 10 so you are looking at 8/47 and the next card has to be the other or 4/46. Doesn't that make sense? Good catch.
  4. QUOTE(jenksd @ May 17, 2006 -> 02:34 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> edit: nevermind They should make Hawk and Brenley one night, then DJ and Kasper the other. That would be horrible. They would do nothing but go back and forth kissing the other ass of each team. "So tell me about Pierre. His numbers don't look good, but I haven't seen him play much this year."
  5. QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 17, 2006 -> 04:08 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Shrink "rivalry" series down to three games. No. The only series that should have 6 games; Cubs-Sox, Dodgers-Angels, A's-Giants, Yankees-Mets. 3 Game with alternating cities each season; Marlins-D'Rays, Reds-Indians, Twins-Brewers, Cards-Royals, O's-Nats, Astros-Rangers QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ May 17, 2006 -> 05:59 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And over time, the dominant teams change. In case everyone forgot, the Yankees went through quite a bit of suckdom in the 80's. And the Royals were a contender during that same time. The "balanced schedule" thing evens out over time. Don't forget to mention how long of a season baseball is. Playing a team in April will not be the same as playing a team in July or September. If we're going to play even schedules, we mine as well have one division.
  6. QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ May 15, 2006 -> 09:04 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't follow hockey much, but were any of these players good: Bordeleau, Chris Bordeleau, J.P. Crossman, Doug Gauthier, Daniel Grimson, Stu McMurchy, Tom Miller, Kip Moreau, Ethan Prokopec, Mike Rychel, Warren Shmyr, Paul Van Dorp, Wayne Wilkinson, Neil Wilson, Behn I writing a paper on Chicago sports history and how #23 is the greatest # Here's an easier answer; the Slackhawks aren't a pimple on the huge ass of Chicago sports. There must be somebody on the new WNBA team wearing #23 that would be more worthy of mentioning than that crappy hockey franchise.
  7. How does the old ND lightbulb joke go again? 1 to change it. 2 to talk about how much they missed the old one?
  8. QUOTE(fathom @ May 17, 2006 -> 07:25 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Only reason for that is Pods gets picked off, and it's not a near pick off. Jeez. I bet you're loving the weather right now too.
  9. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ May 8, 2006 -> 09:43 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> We took our AP Calc test last wednesday, so for the rest of the year we are making a movie on a math topic. Our topic is combinations and we are using poker to explain it. My question is about odds ( and there are a few) Let's say Chris has an Ace, a King, a Queen, a 3 and a 4 (A,K,Q,4,3) What are his odds of picking up the straight? Is it 4/47 * 4/46, or 4/47 * 4*47? Let's say Tom has two fives , a 6, a 7, and an 8 (5,5,6,7,8) What are his odds of picking up the three of a kind? Is it 2/47 + 2/47 + 2/47? Much help appreciated. I assume the rules are draw poker and he's playing against himself? (up to 3 new cards) First one: Holds onto A,K,Q= 4/47 *4/46 (4 J's, and 4 10's left in the deck) Holds onto A, 3, 4=4/47 *4/46 (4 2's, and 4 5's left in the deck) 2nd one: Holds onto two 5's. (3/47*2/46*1/45)*10 (3 of Aces, 2, 3, 4, 9. 10, J, Q, K,) + 2/47 (two 5's left in the deck)<---Now that I think about it, that's not considered a three of a kind with a full house Holds onto 6 and 7 = (3/47*2/46)*2 (catching 2 7's or 2 6's)+ (3/47*2/46*1/45)*10 (3 of Aces, 2, 3, 4, 9. 10, J, Q, K,) Same odds for holding only 7 and 8, or 6 and 8. Holds onto two 5's and one of the other cards: 2/47 (5 on the first new card draw) + 2/46 (5 on the second new card draw if the first card was not a 5) Holds on to two 5's (avoid full house): 2/47 (5 on the first new card draw) + 2/46 (5 on the second new card draw if the first card was not a 5) +2/45 (5 on the third card if niether the first or second card is a 5) [Texsox did this one] For the first one my TI-89 tells me it's .74% Second hand first method is 4.31% Second hand second mehtod is .62% Second hand third method is 8.60% Second hand fourth method is 13%
  10. Thornton bashers go home. Time to get to Walker
  11. Logan was bad tonight, but the errors are pissing me off more.
  12. Royals whipping on Byrd and the Indians again. 2-0 in the top of the 1st.
  13. QUOTE(greg775 @ May 15, 2006 -> 09:44 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I hate trades within the division. Whoever we send to the Twins could burn us in the future since we play each team in the division 34 times a year. Remind me again how the other 26 games are split up.
  14. QUOTE(TheHammer @ May 15, 2006 -> 06:42 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hunter is every bit the defender that Jones is. Both make impossible plays look easy. The difference is everyone has been saying Jones was incredible in the field since the guy was 20 and the fact that he lived up to the hype has made it common for people to say things like yeah hes the greatest ever maybe even though they really don't have much basis for that claim. They are both elite, both are about as good as you could expect a human being to be at playing center field. You sure about that? Hunter makes the routine plays look incredible because he plays so deep.
  15. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 10, 2006 -> 11:19 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Unless they replace Jason Johnson and Jake Westbrook gets back to his 2004 level, I can't see the Indians winning more than 90 games, and in this division the way that we are playing, I don't think that will be enough. Westbrook's 2004 really sticks out like a sore thumb when looking at his career. 2006: Millwood and Elarton: 93 IP, 50K's, 1.39 WHIP, 4.74 ERA Byrd and Johnson: 83.1 IP, 36K's, 1.57 WHIP, 5.94 ERA
  16. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ May 15, 2006 -> 02:12 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I always fall for the Sox killers. It seems like every game he steals a homerun from us. He would be an even bigger Sox killer if we traded talented prospects and $7-$17 million for his overrated ass.
  17. Did Crain have this kind of stuff last season? How come he never struck anyone out?
  18. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ May 14, 2006 -> 09:25 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What a horrible play by Brian. He should have dove into the wall and broke his shoulder. Ok, that made me laugh really hard.
  19. QUOTE(fathom @ May 14, 2006 -> 09:23 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I honestly think that Politte stole Vizcaino's arm this season. Vizcaino was much much better last season than Politte this year.
  20. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ May 12, 2006 -> 06:35 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That sounds like someone just took the clip and added the fart sound. I looked at a Yankees game thread at NYYfans, and one of the posts was "Did I just hear a fart on the YES broadcast?"
  21. Anybody have a link to Rick Sutcliff making an ass out of himself?
  22. I get the first 3 for the second 3. I really need an upgrade in the SP department (Liriano, Radke, Hudson, Sheets, Vazquez) and I've been getting a lot of calls for Chavez. It's a keeper league with 4 picks and right now I have Liriano, Willingham, and Zimmerman sitting on my bench. What do you guys think?
  23. Boy, is that little piece of s*** Cabrera a Sox killer or what? :angry
  24. QUOTE(chisoxdavid @ May 10, 2006 -> 08:54 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Are Ipods a better choice for those like me that drop s*** all the time? Yeah. Be sure to use amazon.com for finding an mp3 player. They list the specs and weights for all the different players. Having the nano is like holding onto a credit card that plays 500 songs (for a 2 GB like mine.)
