  1. Since the Green or Libertarian parties cannot win, they are still hurting Kerry by voting for them.
  2. Rex...if you want to argue that the Sox are committed to winning a World Series, then, I'd like some of the crack you are smoking. Current management ONLY cares about the "bottom line", that's it!
  3. The point is...good teams (contenders) are always trying to get better, while we are always trying to lower payroll and play .500 ball.
  4. Twins made the playoffs, cuz the Sox sucked. The Cards and Astros play in much smaller markets than the Sox do. And while the 'Stros were busy signing Pettitte and Clemens and trading for Beltran, we are "busy" NOT signing our #1 starter from the prior year, NOT getting a #5 starter, and trading for CARL EVERETT!
  5. Yeah...and JR will get us a "replacement" for Mags. Don't worry. :headshake We have Carl Everett, who needs Mags?
  6. IMHO, a vote for Nader, for example, is an anti-Bush vote. But, if you vote for Nader, who cannot possibly win, you are taking that anti-Bush vote away from Kerry.
  7. Why do you suppose so many players have bad-mouthed Sox ownership/management after they have left?
  8. And we are losing Magglio and may trade CLee...so, that's not exactly keeping our nucleus of core players, is it?
  9. The thing that sucks is that in actuality, any 3rd party vote = a vote for Bush.
  10. And what good young core players are you referring to? What scouting? When was the last time we had a good farm system? When was the last time we developed above average-superstar players from our system?
  11. Dude...what are the payrolls of the 4 remaining teams in the playoffs? Hmmmm. (BTW...blind faith does not equal "fandom" IMO!)
  12. For all Bush "knows" California might be in England.
  13. I do not know what Butter said, or where he said it, or in what context. That doesn't matter. My point is that it seems to me that there are people on Soxtalk who's opinions matter more than other's SOLELY because they know one another or have been on Soxtalk longer. That is WRONG!
  14. To answer your question, (with a question(s)) why make a committment to a team if they are not willing to reciprocate to the fans? Why pour your heart, soul and hard-earned dollars into something that promises (delivers) little in return? Why go to a restaurant if you already know that the food is average, at best?
  15. Maybe. But, look at the Blackhawks. How do you think the Wirtzs feel when the see less than 10,000 fans in the stands. They haven't sold the team yet. Dollar Bill is even investing in free agents. Maybe, on the other hand, if people stay away from the Cell, ownership will put more money into players that would put "asses in the seats", OR would sell the team to someone who would.
  16. You're right, complaining won't change a thing. But, if everyone stayed away from the park until ownership showed a committment to winning, ownership would have to change it's tune!
  17. Actually, the head of the UNWRA has admitted to (knowingly) hiring Hamas members.
  18. Where have you been, Apu? I think it was just proven that the UN has been hiring (AND TRANSPORTING!) Hamas terrorists (AND THEIR WEAPONS!) in UN ambulances! BTW...I don't read Haaretz too much, it's a liberal rag!
  19. I b**** about ownership because I love the Sox; if I didn't, I wouldn't care how the team was run. I feel that we as Sox fans deserve a helluva lot better than we are given, and we shouldn't put up with it. I am not trying to tell anyone how to support their team, I am saying that I will not spend a dime of my money going to The Cell until the ownership shows me that it's committed to winning. (I have not gone to a Blackhawks game in 5 years because of the same issue; lack of committment to winning.)
  20. You are probably right. I , however, don't let my feelings/opinions get in the way of facts.
  21. I have said there is favoritism here since Day 1, and have been "gang-attacked" several times as proof. I'm with you Butter...if you have an opinion that is different than that of the "cronies", you are gonna get pummelled, a lot of the time by people who would never let facts get in the way of their opinion. Fight the good fight!
  22. Don't ever get caught bad-mouthing the organization. Good luck!
  23. They do not only reprimand columnist for disagreeing with Israel; much of what they do is to point out instances wherein the media say or write things that can be interpreted as anti-Israel WITHOUT FACTUAL BASES. I wish you the best of luck in your future as a journalsit, 1549, I only hope that you don't ever ignore facts just to get your point across. BTW, which of Israel's policies are you in disagreement with? The one in which they seek to protect their citizens by destroying terrorsts and the threat of terrorism?
  24. We've had this discussion before, but, here goes. Every person (except for the very wealthy) has x-amount of money that they can (or will) spend on entertainment. Say for example, your favorite form of entertainment is going to movies, but, every movie that is playing sucks. Most likely, you will find other ways to spend your entertainment dollar. That doesn't mean you aren't a real movie fan; it means that you aren't willing to spend your time and money on crappy movies. If the Sox are out of contention by mid-July, where is the incentive to go to the park? To see them "battle it out for 2nd or 3rd place"? Yawn. Since cub "fans" wouldn't know good baseball if it bit them on the ass, they will go to their s***ty little park, and not give a rat's ass who's winning. Those aren't real fans, they are morons.
