Alcohol is way more dangerous than weed. So are cigarettes!

I agree with you 100%, but I would add the NBA cap as well. There should be a maximum salary cap AND a minimum salary cap. E.g. you can't spend over $100 million, but you have to have at least a $75 mill payroll. That would guarantee equity league wide!
-
WRONG!!! All of the "experts" picked the Cubs to make and/or win the World Series this season, and they didn't even make the playoffs! That makes it a failure season, not a good season!
-
Agreed. The difference is, if George makes $20 million profit, and the team doesn't win the WS, he will invest at least $20 mill to improve the team, whereas if JR profits $20 million, that, in and of itself, is a successfull season.
-
I tend to agree with this sentiment. However, I am not anti-Yankee like everyone else. I admire "King George" and the way he runs his club. If he needs a pitcher, he gets one. If he needs an OF, he gets one. George doesn't worry that player acquisitions may cut into his profit margin...he wants to win World Championships, first and foremost. I would like to see STL or HOU win (if an AL team does not), mostly because it would really piss off cubs fans.

Yeah...why spend money and get a good 3B, when you can have a bad, cheap one? :fyou Reinsdorf!

1) Sutcliffe will be in the Cubs' booth in 2005 2) Who gives a rat's ass!?!? :fthecubs

Remember when the Sox signed Jamie Navarro? Clemens wanted to pitch for the Sox at half of what they paid Navarro, but Sox management thought that Clemens was "washed-up". :headshake :banghead

I can see where you're coming from. But keep in mind, the higher you fly, the more it hurts when you crash!

It's interesting that you put ALL of the eligible parties in your poll. Being that none of the other parties have a legitimate chance to win...I have to go with Kerry. I would be interested in knowing...those people who voted Green, Libertarian, Socialist and/or Independant, if you could only vote for Bush or Kerry, who would you choose?

Neither team won anything! Nobody remembers the also-rans...nobody cares.
-
I agree to some extent. However, if you were a cub fan, would you view 2004 as a successful season? Do you view the 2004 season as successful for the Whitesox?
-
Doesn't matter...either you are in the playoffs, or you're not!

25 blown saves for the loser cubs didn't help their cause!

Bow at the feet of the Master! (Just kidding! ) Seriously, the Cubs sufferred from lack of talent, heart, a manager, a closer, a bench, defense, on-base guys. No lack of scapegoats and/or alibis though, (Steve Stone, Billy Goat, Umpires, Wendell Kim, hurricane, schedule makers, the media). As I said MANY times before, the cubs won't ever win with Dusty Baker as their manager. I hope they extend his contract to at least 2014.
-
I told you guys that the cubs will NEVER win with Dusty Baker as the manager. But, wait for the idiot cub fans to place blame on; 1) Steve Stone, 2) Wendell Kim, 3) NL Umpires, 4) Billy Goat curse, 5) Steve Bartman, etc. In reality, they have no closer, no on-base guys, no team speed, below average team defense, no heart and no balls!
-
I would go: 1) Pavano...cuz he's the most talented 2) Radke...taking him from Minny is a bonus 3) Perez

I had a 9-game package, but, I sold/gave away ALL of them...here's why! I don't ever go to games before June 15...usually too cold for baseball. This season, by the time the first game for which I had tickets came around...Mags and Frank were already down, the team was DONE! There were other personal reasons that prevented me from going, but, like I've said many times, if the team's not going to be in contention, I will not be there.

Share with the rest of the class! We like gossip too!

The Sox are out of it...who cares? We can still root for the Astros, Giants and/or Padres! :fthecubs

This "not-for-profit" concept is very interesting. Since fans have more than a passing interest in the success of their team(s), ball clubs shouldn't be run in the same way as corporations are operated.
