  1. They need to make that offer to the Reds too!!!
  2. I don't believe the rumor myself, however, don't discount my theory in which a move to the AL East could be a precursor to a move from Chicago to Charlotte. It's a wide open market wherein they wouldn't have to compete with the damned cubs.
  3. I still believe that "flip-flopping", the type of which Kerry is accused, is a sign of intelligence and/or strength...not weakness! Changing one's opinion after learning more about an issue is a character trait, not a flaw. On the other hand, if someone believes that 2+2=5, and refuses to be swayed in his thinking, that's a sign of weakness, stubborness and/or stupidity.
  4. That's what JR is all about...profits over competitiveness!!!! He doesn't care about winning...only making money.
  5. I'm sure all of those factors enter into it. Also, Angelos invests a LOT of money into the team, that inspires fan loyalty!
  6. Right on, brother! JR is an asshole, but he's not stupid. IF he was planning such a move, there would have to be a huge financial incentive for him to do so. Either that, or he's moving East to pave the way for an eventual move of the team to Charlotte, NC.
  7. It's called "thiining the herd"! (The "Natural Selection" process) Awhile back I was on the Kennedy going downtown (Chicago)...I was doing about 75 mph, and was passed by a guy on a motorcycle who was standing on his seat! I couldn't believe it.
  8. I hate to be the "eternal pessimist", but as a fan since 1972< I know that the offseason will be uneventful, as usual! They will make half-assed offers free agents and will get inevitably outbid by millions of dollars. Than JR will "cry poor" and blame the fans because they didn't show up to support a below-average team. Our FA acquisitions will be of the talent level of most teams' utility players.
  9. I need to see pics before I make such an important decision!
  10. Angelo's job should be OVER! How could the Bears have let him get away with saying that they did not need a veteran backup QB for Rex? STUPID!!!! :banghead
  11. He will get 30% more... if that's what the market dictates!!!
  12. It doesn't matter who's the "bad guy"...what matters is, are the Sox a better team with Ordonez, or are they better without him? Until they show that they will be BIG players in the FA market, and can/will get us someone who is as good/better than Mags, I believe we would be bettter off with #30 than without him.
  13. Quality is ALWAYS better than quantity, dude! I'd rather have one $14 million player on my team than seven $2 million players.
  14. Then don't complain when the Sox suck, and are out of contention by June!!!
  15. Bottom line...the Sox will not offer (nor pay) Magglio anything near what his market value will be proven to be, we will NOT have him next year, our starting RF will be Everett, and the 2005 SOX WILL SUCK!
  16. Here's the deal...I guarantee I will be proven correct: the Sox will try to "lowball" Ordonez (show him no respect for what he's done as a Sox!), and he will sign elsewhere. The Sox will not sign a FA "replacement" for Maggs...your starting RF for 2005 will be Carl (F**king) Everett! Enjoy 3rd place.
  17. You know that we at the Department of Homeland Security don't deal in "logical thought"!
  18. Sad but true! I remember years ago, when the Sox needed a CF and Kirby Puckett was a FA. Puck was a southsider, and wanted to play for the Sox. As we all know, he ultimateley re-signed with the Twins. I recall Reinsdorf being quoted as saying that they did everything in their power to pursuade Puck to join the Sox. Later, I read a quote by Puck in which he stated that the Sox NEVER made him an offer, NOR HAD THEY EVER EVEN CONTACTED HIM! This is the way in which the Sox do business..."F**k the fans, we want to make money!"
