We have a team in a major market city, I don't understand this dumping salary s***. If there is a problem with funds with JR, then he should sell. I see Anaheim, Baltimore, Boston, the Cubs, Kansas City, Detroit all spending money, we live in Chicago. We shouldn't be dumping we should be adding.

ESPN Rumor Central is reporting that Anaheim is looking to deal Jarrod Washburn or Ramon Ortiz, possibly both to offset their signings. The two teams that are being mentioned for both are the Padres and Orioles. Why is it that the Sox are nowhere to be found by either one of their names. Ortiz is making 3.5 Million next year and 5.0 the following year. What the hell is wrong with Kenny and Jerry?

I agree with Anthony, get both Damon and Trot, if anyone thinks that Rowand is our savior in Center, get real, then all we would have to do is find a replacement at 2nd base and a starting pitcher. :fthecubs

What the Vlad signing does re. Magglio, is it makes Mags the best "available" player left. So, if we want to trade him to LA, Boston, Baltimore, etc., we have a lot more leverage (and can ask for more)!

I thing Bush has been a great president...IF you are a rich corporate white male! Everyone else has been "boned" by the Bush Administration. If his administration had been subject to special investigations (as was Clinton's), the "whitewater" scandal would look like nothing (see Ken Lay/Dick Cheney re. Enron!). When you have a situation wherein < 5% of the population controls > 95% of the nation's money, PLUS a president who's main interest is maintaining this status quo, then your president can only represent a small minority of Americans. (I guess this makes sense when you consider that he didn't get a majority vote win anyway!) ANYONE BUT BUSH IN 2004!!!!

IF this rumor is valid...you would think you'd have to trade Nomar (to LA?) as well. If JR won't/can't sign Magglio to a long term big $ deal, he sure as hell won't sign Nomar either! I'd send Nomar to LA for Izturis (your SS for the present/future) and those prospects we keep hearing about. That's just my opinion...I could be wrong!

Here is my take... Has anyone here ever been to the HOF? If yes, did you miss Pete Rose not being there? Would it have made your HOF visit better? If not, would you be more willing to go if Pete Rose was inducted? "Charlie Hustler" is a certified liar, he should never get in the HOF.
