John Kruk picked the Sox to repeat, and Gammons says El Series is possible. Turn on ESPN now to watch it. Shockingly, Steve Phillips says the most important thing in the MLB this year is Pedro's health. :rolly Edit: Pedro Gomez just gave me the Bonds update. This morning his running workout intensified, and he started running around curves on the infield dirt!!!!!!!

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 01:32 AM) Ahh don't you guys have Robbie Hummel? Methinks he will end up at Duke. Oh yeah! Last night he finally broke out of his second half of the season slump with 22 points and 8 rebounds. Robbie is one of the nicest kids you will ever meet, and I really hope he goes to Duke because that has been his goal. I think when Coach K meets him, he will want him on his team. One day earlier this year, I'm in one of his classes, and he got letters from Duke, UConn, and UNC all in the same hour. And to top it off, he is not cocky or conceeded at all. Scott Martin is also very good. This year he has gotten more of the glory because he has been a big scorer, but Hummel's potential is through the roof. I can't wait until regionals next Saturday, my friends and I are going to get there at the crack of dawn to get front row seats. -
Official High School Baseball Thread

My school's team is a joke ever since Jeff Samardzija left. The coach is ruining the program and a few of the really good players who would probably the best player on the team at my school just don't play baseball for him because he is such a bad coach. -

We (Valpo) won sectionals tonight. I got to storm the court, it was a great time. Our student section was much bigger than Chestertons, and the game was at Chesterton. Good times. -
Cubs' reliever Scott Williamson on trading block
whitesoxin' replied to SSH2005's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 4, 2006 -> 11:41 AM) It would be an awful deal for the Nationals. Even though Soriano is only under contract for one season at $10 million and has already stated that he wants to sign back with an A.L. team next offseason, both Williamson and Hairston are only under 1-year contracts as well. Williamson still has to show that he is fully recovered from his surgery and that he can stay healthy like you said. Hairston is a mediocre offensive second baseman and his production would be even more pathetic in the outfield. I do disagree with you about Soriano hitting 40 homers at Wrigley though. He has only hit 64 homers in his past two seasons at Ameriquest Field, a much better hitter's park than Wrigley. The Cubs would probably have to give up Murton if they wanted Soriano. Anybody think Soriano could be a replacement for Gooch? I know he strikes out a lot, but he has a lot of potential. -
It can't hurt, can it?

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 10:16 PM) I don't know if it's even still there, but J&J's Pizza Shack in Portage always made one hell of a meal. It is still there. (On the corner of route 6 and calumet? near Jackson Twp?) My friends have told me about how good it is..maybe I should go try it.

Bad News: Son little league team is the cubs

QUOTE(orangekrush88 @ Feb 28, 2006 -> 04:22 PM) My years in Little League consisted of the Charleston Alley Cats, Cape Fear Crocs, Reds and the Angels. With the Crocs we went the whole season one loss and won the championship, with the Reds I actually pitched a perfect game vs the Pirates. No errors in a little league game? Wow I've seen my share of no hitters but perfect games in little league are rare. -

Bad News: Son little league team is the cubs
whitesoxin' replied to KeithFranklin's topic in Pale Hose Talk
My best year in little league was with the White Sox. I had 54 strikeouts in 26 innings (we could only pitch 2 innings per game, and I only remember that because it's on my trophy that my coach gave me at the end of the year ), and most of the other outs were on grounders back to me or popups to myself. My fielders and whole team sucked so bad, that one time I even had to run over to first base and catch the ball because the first baseman sucked really bad. After I did that, my dad came out of the stands and when I got on the bench at the end of the inning, he yelled at me and called me selfish, bad sport, and all that Jazz. I was 9 at the time so I ran off and started crying. -
Thomas takes high road in response to Williams

Damn, unfortunately I have to go to work now. Frank, you are the man, always have been and always will be. Everyone says things that make them look like an ass, Frank's are just put in the public's eye. Move on everyone, we have a championship to defend!!! -
QUOTE(SoxPride56 @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 05:28 PM) There I fixed it for you. I would never again spend money on that thing. LOL Frank Thomas is not a thing, he is a man! God damn, some of you guys (things?) are getting out of control.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 05:16 PM) LOL. Yeah, I was definitely an idiot for saying that. That was just a knee jerk reaction to a horrible series in which I think we were swept by the Angels. I've agreed with everything you have said the past 24 hours. I know exactly what you mean. -
QUOTE(aboz56 @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 05:01 PM) Dude, he hasn't done much since 2000. Face the facts and get over it. Once again, you are the one telling us to get over it. Since when is starting another Frank bashing thread getting over it? :rolly Why does this "great" article fail to mention how much money he was making during his prime? During his MVP seasons? This is a very weak argument, Aboz. You are really stretching it trying to make Frank look like the bad guy.

Is it acceptable for me to "slurp" Frank now? Thanks for 16 GREAT years Frank!! -
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 05:05 PM) You should do some research my friend. In each year from 1995-1997 Frank was in the top 10 paid players. I believe he dropped to the top 20 in 1998 and top 30 in 1999. In 1995-1997 he was one of the top 10 players in the game. 1998 he was one of the top 20, and 1999 before the season started he would have been projected to be in the top 30. Like I said, he deserved the contract that he got. Especially in 1995, coming off of a monster season in the shortened 1994 season.
-
Let me start out by saying if you voted for "Boo" then you really must not be a Sox fan. *Now insert a smartass comment about me not being a true Sox fan because I got a case of the Thomas Syndrome one day* Frank gave so much to this organization, and it is in no way acceptable to boo him when he comes home. -------- Now let's imagine if you were in Frank Thomas's shoes. You are drafted by the White Sox, and you work almost twenty years to accomplish your ultimate goal of winning the World Series. The destined year finally comes and you get hurt. You aren't able to play in the second half of the season or playoffs. The organization that you have been the face of for years are World Champions, meanwhile you are on the outside looking in and two months later you are kicked out for good. How would you feel? I understand that it is a business and I'm not saying the White Sox were not justified, but it just sucks for Frank that this had to happen. I would be extremely pissed off and ALL of you would feel exactly the same way. Let the man vent. -------- Anybody who makes the argument that Frank has been paid too much money from 2000 through this year, just stop talking. He did not have a monster contract in the 90's when he was in his prime. (Sorry Frank, you're not in your prime right now) The contract he signed was a token of appreciation and what he deserved.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 11:08 PM) Oh no they lost one game out of 162. I think I'll quit on the team. Yes because it was only about that game. :rolly Later Mr. Admin.
-
Yeah I have homework to finish up and I have my tickets in my drawer for May 22 and I will be cheering my ass off for the greatest player in the history of the White Sox. You would think an Admin would step away from a dispute like this wouldn't you? Oh well, I guess he has a case of the Thomas syndrome. Goodnight.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 11:07 PM) Why is this still going on? People just need to agree to disagree. The end. Thank you Ron Burgandy. Scholars maintain this term was lost in translation hundreds of years ago.
-
QUOTE(aboz56 @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 11:04 PM) Any argument who comes from a so called fan who quit on the team doesn't count. Just want to put that out there. You're right, I should have been all happy and jolly that afternoon after blowing a 3 run lead to the KC Royals (the worst team in the MLB) in the final 2 innings.
