QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 08:34 AM) Kobe has tried to be Michael throughout his whole life, he just cannot be Michael. I mean, he even screwed up the mistress on the side worse than MJ did. Dont forget that he has yet to dabble in gambling ( that we know of ) and whiffing on curve balls.

France may answer terror with Nuke

QUOTE(mr_genius @ Jan 22, 2006 -> 01:54 PM) Christians used to be crazy like that too, think Europe a long time ago. Yeah, the Jews were wiping out "non-believers" long before there was an Islam. -
QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jan 22, 2006 -> 12:08 AM) My prediction: Hillary Clinton wouldn't last to Super Tuesday. She's been a very good Senator for New York. So much so that the GOP can't even find a real candidate to pit against her. Seriously, when is the Democratic party going to learn that a northeastern Liberal is going to lose every single time out?

Disgruntled Dems Consider Challenge to Lieberman
NUKE_CLEVELAND replied to southsideirish71's topic in The Filibuster
Instead of trashing Lieberman you guys should be praising him. How many times have I heard people on this board talking about the need for politicians who have integrity and a mind of their own? Politicians who dont always toe the party line and aren't afraid to take a stand that doesn't agree with the party leadership are a refreshing change in Washington and Im not just saying that because Lieberman is going against the Dems. -
QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jan 20, 2006 -> 03:54 PM) Nuke is not winning this. :headshake No? Im up 6 hehe!

Dow takes biggest 1-day loss since Iraq invasion
NUKE_CLEVELAND replied to Balta1701's topic in The Filibuster
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 20, 2006 -> 05:34 PM) Well, interesting day for the Stock Market players around here, that's for sure. On bad earnings news from a couple companies, following poor earnings news yesterday from a couple companies, following some major hits in the overseas stock markets (Japan) in the last few days, and along with oil shooting back towards $70, the DJIA dropped 213 points today, it's Biggest 1 day drop since before the Mission in Iraq was Accomplished. Google slid 8.5% today, it's worst day since becoming a public company, on the heels of a bad earnings report from Yahoo and the news that the government was trying to get its hands on Google's search info. I went shopping about 15 mins before the close and found some real good merch on sale. -

QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 19, 2006 -> 09:26 PM) It's funny to hear Chirac posturing against radical Islamist terrorists...isn't France a Muslim country? Its well on its way.........as are several other nations such as Holland whose overly generous immigration policies have allowed a massive influx of Muslims from the 3rd world. -
DICK Cheney shows us what's wrong with the country
NUKE_CLEVELAND replied to kapkomet's topic in The Filibuster
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jan 19, 2006 -> 11:01 PM) I can't find the exact quote anywhere, but here's the real problem with this country. For all the bulls*** that's spewed on this particular board from you Bush haters, and for all those who try to defend what we think is a bigger picture, this drives right to the heart of what's wrong with our country today: these f***ers, ALL OF THEM, WANT division, otherwise, they have nothing. Hear me out. Cheney was in New York today, and he gave a speech. In it was the paraphrased quote: f*** you, Dick Cheney. With this attitude, NO ONE WINS. What about the 50% of the people who LOST on that vote? What about all of us who have loans to go to school? What about all those Democrats that you profess to be representing? Who LOSES? WE DO! Someday, the shoe will be on the other foot. And the Dems will drive the stake through just as hard. And it sucks. Our whole government is built on one party losing, and one party "winning", and we all lose, because of the divisiveness of Washington DC. And if these Republican assholes wouldn't have spent like a drunken sailor, these "cutbacks" wouldn't even be necessary. Idiots. Rant over. As long as you have politicians who are a bunch of sore losers like Democrats you're always going to have divisiveness. Even though they are about as far out of power as they possibly could be they still think they can push their leftist agenda. If America wanted the leftist agenda they would vote leftists into office. They are incapable of proposing sensible alternatives to Republican legislation so they are reduced to stomping up and down and crying like a bunch of spoiled little toddlers who didn't get a candy bar they wanted. f*** them. As long as they want to act like they are acting then they deserve to lose. As long as they are the hypocritical assholes that they are they deserve to lose. As long as they choose to whine and cry about how evil Bush is and resorting to character assassination instead of a reasoned and logical argument then not only do they deserve to lose but they deserve to have it rubbed in their faces at every opportunity. -
Oped on Maryland health care tax on WMT
NUKE_CLEVELAND replied to southsider2k5's topic in The Filibuster
QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jan 18, 2006 -> 04:36 PM) I see this whole thing as one of those "values" things and how we see the world. I see a corporation that is the largest private employer in the country. They use predatory pricing tactics that (intentionally or not) have devastating effects on small town local businesses. They offer low prices by having low labor costs. This includes health care costs. As a result, a lot of the people that work for Wal-Mart have a difficult time affording the cost of Wal-Mart's health insurance plan - if they even qualify for health care coverage to begin with. Those that do often can't afford the treatment even with the coverage. Many of these workers then have to rely on the state to cover the medical bills. Why should every taxpayer have to help shoulder the healthcare cost of the Wal-Mart worker when the average Costco or Target employee doesn't leave a burden like the average Wal-Mart worker does? Our government does a lot of favors for businesses and corporations - why when they ask for help in return, it's suddenly an affront to our values? Those "predatory" tactics include such economic basics as economies of scale and just in time inventories. This allows them to have a lower price than their competitors. This is America my friend, not the Soviet Union. The government has no business telling corporations what benefits to offer and it defenitely has no business telling corporations how to run their operations. If people need medical coverage then I suggest they get a better job than stocking shelves or fetching carts from the parking lot. -
QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jan 18, 2006 -> 08:31 PM) My condolances Rex, you poor f***er. Yeah, hes gotta deal with assholes like me. God help him.

^^^^^^ Gore and Hillary = pwn3d!!!!! Every time those 2 open their mouths a bunch of hypocritical leftist drivel spews out. :puke
-
QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jan 17, 2006 -> 11:15 PM) I do respect that position, but I also think a lot of it is perception. I think it is wholly consistent and correct to support the rights of mainstream Muslims while denouncing the evil and inhuman acts of an extremist minority. But I think the same can be said of Christianity and any other faith. It's the extremists that give all religion a bad name. Now we're on the same page and thats the crux of my argument here. Im sick and tired of the left trying to lump in regular folks who are religous and church going with the likes of people like Robertson.
-
QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jan 17, 2006 -> 11:03 PM) Your response to Tex' post seems to be knocking the proposition that practicioners of Muslim, Hindu, Jewish, and Buddhist traditions might feel the same sort of persecution complex you are feeling on behalf of the beleagered Christian Right. If not, then I don't follow your response and you can tell me what I am missing. I took what he said to be basically the same thing you said which was that I believe Christians should not be bashed at all but that any other religon is fair game. I do not believe that at all. All religons should be free to worship as they see fit. My biggest problem is that its ok to bash Christians at will in the media. Thats wrong, its hypocritical and its bigoted. If I spouted off about Jews or whoever around here the way the media spouts off about Christians every day Id have been banned long ago.
-
QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jan 17, 2006 -> 10:54 PM) Spoken like a person with deep, deep concerns about tolerance of religious beliefs. Well, for Christians, anyway. Go find me one post where I denigrate Jews or Muslims or Hindus or anyone else for that matter. I wont hold my breath.
-
QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 17, 2006 -> 10:49 PM) How do you say that in the Muslim, Hindu, Jewish, and Buddhist traditions? I see what you're driving at and we both know thats simply not the case. Try again.
