Rita is out of the way..................but 78% of the natural gas production in the gulf is offline and as a result natural gas is up another 7% today alone. Crude is along for the ride up a couple of smackers as well. People who use gas to heat your homes in the winter........you all better start thinking about your bills now cause from everything Im hearing they're gonna be 70-100% above last years levels.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 11:37 AM) I know y'all can't believe I'm supporting the Hammer, but one thing I hate more than right wing extremists, are expensive political hack jobs. DeLay s*** in his mess kit with the redistricting, but it was legal. Run a great candidate against him and let the voters knock him out. Doing it this way is wrong. I really think he will be found not guilty. This just is to embarrass the man and the party. Thats about all the Democratic party has aside from race baiting and class warfare. What a bunch of sorry asses they are.

QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 05:49 AM) Yep, you're right there's no such thing as sexism. Especially not in the work place. I know that I can be treated exactly the same as my male counterparts. Yep, definitely. :rolly You know what, the law says that you're supposed to be and if people break the law then you report it and they get slammed. You feel you're being treated unfairly then use the tools you have. BTW I dont see how in the hell this relates to public television but that needed a response. -

b**** b**** b**** Hes spent something like 10 minutes whining about oil company profits and how they should give them back somehow. Shut the f*** up socialist. They don't set the price of oil, the futures traders do and its not like the CEO's of Exxon Mobil and BP Amoco somehow cooked up the hurricanes and had em blow through and wipe out capacity.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 09:27 AM) Actually it's still a percentage increase, the same for all of us, it's just a bigger dollar amount for bigger users. In that regard, the increased costs are even worse for those just getting by, but who own vehicles, and almost zero for the really poor who rely on mass transportation. The other costs are hidden. You mention passing it on, one of my big chemical suppliers just announced a price increase almost across the board. I'll never know, but suspect some of that is increased energy costs to them. Funny you should mention chemical companies as there was a piece on CNBC yesterday on how they are getting killed by higher raw material costs.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 09:16 AM) Both. Mostly from my business. After pulling the rig which gets 9 mpg, I am running two engines (4 gph) and two diesel fired hot water heaters (3.4 gph). At night, I would also sometimes have a generator running to power lights. Another additional cost is the elimination of a tax break I was receiving on my diesel. Previously I did not have to pay road taxes on the fuel, because it was not being used "on the road". That program was eliminated. I have some annual contracts and basically have to suck it up and hope for lower fuel prices and improve work flows to decrease the work time with everything running. So in that regard, it has been a good thing. And as a sole proprietor, there really isn't much of a difference in personal and business, it's still money out of my pocket. My next question would have been are you able to pass some of these costs on to your customers but with annual contracts that doesn't appear possible. I know that Im probably the exception when i say the hit Im taking is negligable.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 08:59 AM) My fuel bill is up almost $500/month from a year ago. I started to calculate how much stock I would need to own to cover that :headshake Is that your personal travel or a business expense?

QUOTE(Steff @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 07:19 AM) And even for those with the disposable income it's a nice f*** off.. I don't understand how those profiting don't think it's a big deal. They are still paying.. just doesn't hurt the pocket book as much. I get really good gas mileage so the added hit for me is only about another 20-30 bucks a month at the pump. I can absorb that easily.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 08:14 AM) Cutting voters taxes and going into debt is a great way to get elected. Why not cut taxes and spending? Because our leaders want to buy us stuff with our money. One thing I always respected about the GOP was fiscal responsibility. Now they are the leaders in deficit spending and the DEMs are right there at the trough as well. FREE LUNCH! FREE LUNCH! Elect us and others down the road will pay your taxes and interets. FREE LUNCH! Eventually we have to pay all this back, with interest. Our leaders avoid that issue and try and convince us that someone else is going to pay it back. I don't mind cutting taxes, but you have to cut spending also. Come back to us after trimming the budget and give us the surplus. Don't borrow money from China, and give it to me, and try to convince me it's a free lunch. I totally agree with you. Totally and completely. This is a first.

QUOTE(Balance @ Sep 26, 2005 -> 03:52 PM) Well, actually, they'll be applying RICO to agribusinesses who hire illegals. Its high time someone went after big business for causing this problem. The fact that they draw illegals here by hiring them and then having the states get stuck with the bill for benefits is absolutely unconsionable on their part. Those found to hire Illegal Aliens should be made to pay restitution to the states for monies lost providing these people with health care and education etc etc.

Of all the people you picked for an article on this you pick one by Paul Krugman. Holy s***.
