Mark: We need you badly tommorrow
NUKE_CLEVELAND replied to White Sox Josh's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 09:49 PM) This is his big test? I know their are a lot of different opinions on Buehrle and whether he is an ace or not. This game should decide it. We need him to shut the indians down tommorrow. He couldn't beat the f***ing Royals when we needed him to so Im not too optimistic about his chances against a red hot Cleveland team. -

QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 10:37 PM) I can make a positive post Santo. I don't hate Oz; I still like him and think without him we wouldn't have built the 15 game lead. The guys played for him whereas they didn't for some of our other zombie managers. I love Paulie turning in another big season. I loved what Hermy did when he was healthy. Without him we never build that big lead. I love the way Iguchi contributed this year in his first here. I still like Crede and the way he's played well since coming back. I hate our bench; really am not big on Timo, Blum, Ozuna. Am down on Freddie for sucking when he's supposed to be a big time pitcher. I am positive a lot. You know what all of that is gonna get us unless we find our sack and play some baseball?!?! A f***ing tee time. Thats what its gonna get us.

Go ahead. f***ing choke again. The gag heard round the world. Thats how this f***ing season is gonna be remembered.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 09:25 PM) First off, he brings in Damaso Marte to protect a lead? Is this the same guy that quit on the team just over a week or so ago? Please explain this to me, someone. Second, after Ozuna gives us another chance, he lets Jermaine Dye hit when we needed to get the runner to 3rd. Where are Harris or Timo to lay down the bunt? Then we need to hold a one run defecit and we bring in Hermanson? Where the hell is Politte? Ozzie, thanks for helping out to piss the season away. When Eric Wedge wins AL Manager of the year, we'll all know why. You'll never be mistaken for a genius. In fact you are a moron. You've proved it time and time again. Ozzie and his man love of all the s***bag benchwarmers on the team is what brought us to this point, that and the collective lack of cojones on the rotation except for Contreras. This team is seriously pissing me off. What a bunch of f***ing chokers.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 12:52 PM) That and they aren't sure OPEC is going to raise production at all. It really doesn't matter that much if they raise production or not, if the market gets it in its head that oil is gonna run then oil is gonna run. All that increased production will do is fatten the bottom lines of XOM and COP and their peers.

Oil spiked 4 and some change to 67.5 a barrel today cause of concerns about the new hurricane forming near Florida.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 06:46 AM) Is this a victory for Bush and the 6 way negotiations??? Not that the enemies of Bush would ever admit it.

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 01:37 PM) I have a serious question, and please don't bash me for asking this: Is this even fun for anyone to watch now? Im watching the Bears.......thats far more fun.

QUOTE(downstairs @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 12:23 PM) Nobody hates us. If we're hoping for balks and close calls to go our way to win, then we won't. Even if they DO go our way. Its time for the hitters to hunker down and hit everything hittable. Plain and simple. BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!!
-
QUOTE(downstairs @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 12:10 PM) 2004 - Red Sox 2nd largest payroll in the league. 2003 - Marlins I'll give you this one, but they beat the Yankees and Cubs... both high spending teams. If they didn't win, one of these two would have. 2002 - Angels Yep, lots of money spent 2001 - Dimondbacks Bought Johnson and Shilling for one year of glory. May not be as free spending now, but they did it the one year that counted. 2000, 1999, 1998 - Yankees Yep. 1997 - Marlins Spent like crazy for one year. Low and behold, it worked! 1996 - Yankees Yep. 1995 - Braves Yep. Want me to keep going? You're missing my point. You can spend all the money in the world, if the team doesn't have any heart they're not gonna win anything. It doesn't matter what they're paid, they have to give a s***.

Punt Return for a TD 17-6 Bears now. Looking pretty good.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 11:19 AM) We're spending 34 million dollars this year than the Indians. That's the worst excuse you could possibly imagine with this situation. Money doesn't win championships...........heart does. We'd do well to remember that.

QUOTE(beck72 @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 06:06 AM) The sox came into this season being written off by most media baseball scribes, and a lot of fans [who I might add, weren't exactly hanging around sites like Soxtalk]. Why? The team was made up of castoffs and guys with something to prove which left them likely being a .500 team that should come in 3rd in the AL Central. A team composed of guys like AJ [team cancer], Dye [old and washed up], Pods [a one yr wonder who'd likely hit .240 again], Contreras [a Yankee piece of trash with a 5.00 ERA], a 2bman from Japan, a fee swinging SS that has awful fielding mechanics, a daredevil CFer who certainly can't repeat a breakout yr he had in 2004, a team whose pitching staff ace is a 38th round draft pick, that lost two .290, .300, 30 Hr, 100 RBI guys in Maggs and CLee, shouldn't be near 1st place right?! The 2005 sox didn't believe the experts. They believed in themselves more. They had something to prove. IMO, this is what drove them. They just took each game, each series in stride. Soon, they knew someone on the team, someway somehow would help them win. They lost a little of their edge, after having the best record in baseball for so long. The aura of invincibility is certainly gone. But this was never their forte, their strength. This team is made of guys who have failed, who have been less than perfect, who have struggled a lot in their careers to get to this point. This is a roster filled with guys who have been more "question marks" than "all stars" If a collection of guys can overcome this late season fade, the 2005 sox can. Call me a "homer", call me a fool, I don't care. But I came into this season believing this team could make the playoffs, and it's not far off. What they do with this chance, who knows. But I still feel this collection of castoffs will do well. How well who knows. But count me in as one who still believes. The bigger question may be, do they still believe? Beck I see what you're saying but is there anything about this teams play lately, in the stretch run when everything is on the line, that makes you think this team is motivated or has any heart?

Giving the boot to Schroder will mean closer ties with the US and a more conservative German government. I hope this is right.
-
WOW, A FIELD GOAL KICKER WHO CAN KICK. How refreshing. 10-6 DA BEARS now.
-
Detroit scores on a long catch n run. 7-7 Dare I say shootout?
-
JONES IS TEARING SOME s*** UP!!!!!!!!! Bears about to score. EDIT: Bears punch it in. 7-0

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 07:08 AM) Biggest game of the year to this point. Taking 2 of 3 in a place where we never win in September would be a big time confidence boost going into the critical series with the Tribe. Hopefully, the Royals can help us out a little bit. What is it about pressure that brings out the worst in this team?

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 09:45 PM) The Dave Chappelle Prince. If he starts serving pancakes in the dugout Im gonna lose it.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 01:19 PM) Losing a game to Santana is not a problem. Striking out like crazy because you refuse to change your approach. Bases loaded no outs, and no one puts the ball in play. COME ON!!!!! Im glad this game wasn't on television. I probably would have thrown something and broken my TV after watching 3 dudes strike out in a row. -

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 12:40 PM) Nuke, you and I may disagree on what is considered a subsidy to the airlines (do you count building an airport?), but overall we're in complete agreement for once...the 2nd "bailout" package that the government gave to the airlines after 9/11 was complete garbage, and I think the first one was too much money as well (the day Congress passed the first post-911 airline bailout, one of the airlines immediately ordered like 7 new jumbo jets with the money). Building an airport is one thing. It drives the local economy and the airlines have to pay rent to fly out of there. The community gets its money back. With a straight out cash payment the money is flushed down a money-losing hole never to be seen again.
