I dont listen to very much talk at all. About the only time I really ever do is when Im on a long road trip and I'll put on SIRIUS Patriot and listen to their NRA show and Michael Savage.

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 12:50 PM) Except most of the people in Guantanamo aren't or weren't terrorists to begin with. So that's one major hole in your theory. And secondly, when we change how we deal with other human beings to fight the terrorists - when we stoop to their level which you clearly advocate - you become the terrorists. If this is about protecting our way of life, its about making sure that we don't change our values to do it either. When it becomes the stated policy of our forces to target innocent people...... When it becomes the stated policy of our nation to wipe out a nation because of their religon ( think Iran vs Isreal ).......... When it becomes our stated policy to indiscriminantely bomb civillian buildings.............. When it becomes our Standard Operating Procedure to kidnap people and mutilate them on television for all to see........ ..........THEN we have stooped to their level. Until then, all this whining and complaining about terrorist s***bags getting roughed up during interrogation is just that. When it becomes

QUOTE(MSHAWKS @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 12:45 PM) link Nuke, does the fact that William Calley was a murdurous son of a b**** mean that all our troops are murderous sons of b****es? I would say no, but if your logic is to remain consistant you would say yes, right? You were beaten to the punch making the point you made by about 7 posts but I'll answer for both of you. If you think Im making a broad generalization about the entire black race you're wrong. I was pointing out, as the news media has done VERY frequently in the months after Katrina, that the black citizens of N.O. reacted to the crisis differently than the white citizens have. You people can call me racist if you want to but all Im doing is stating facts here and they are gleaned from the mainstream media. -

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 12:01 AM) It's the perfect metaphor for the current leadership in the executive and legislative branches. Stupid, pointless photo ops to distract the voters, instead of anything with substance. Immigration legislation? Not everything they do is a photo-op. -

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 09:23 AM) Who said anything about Constitutional rights being granted? You keep harping on that, but no one here has suggested that. Terrorists dont have rights under the Constitution. Terrorists dont have rights under the Geneva Convention. Terrorists dont have rights under the laws of war. There is no document or treaty that grants rights to terrorists or the organizations they are a part of. Terrorists have no rights other than to be mowed down by machine gun fire from our soldiers or to rot away in Guantanamo and thats how it should be.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 07:33 AM) Yea, Nuke did only quote one source, but, there are a lot of people who are in the "welfare role" here - looking to the government to take care of them instead of taking care of themselves. It's on the news here almost nightly. Its on the news, on the net and in the papers. If you haven't noticed a pattern as time passes then you haven't been paying attention. This story is one of many and its certainly not the 1st time Ive brought this subject up in this forum. If certain people in that region put half as much energy into rebuilding as they did complaining and looking for ways to get over on the system then NO would be completely back on its feet by now. -
Kennedy: Repubicans rigged 2004 election

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 5, 2006 -> 10:24 PM) That's right, of course, but losing by three million votes and then boasting that with a mild shift in Ohio you'd have been President really annoys me, and that, specifically, was what I was commenting on. I do agree with yours too, though. It's why George Bush was dragged by the balls over Social Security. He took a 51-49 Victory to mean Do As You Please and was in for a rude awakening. Of course, it doesn't help him that he hardly campaigned on the issue of SS Reform, although if he had, he'd have lost the Presidency. It's funny how people think that being elected gives them the mandate to do as they please, whatever it may be. Its a tragedy that SS reform was put to bed by the Democrats and their asinine scare tactics. Genuine reform would enable millions of Americans to build some real wealth instead of consigning themselves to poverty in their old age but oh well. -

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jun 5, 2006 -> 10:01 PM) I will admit that all this bulls*** is just to bring back the "conservative base"... but hello, the conservatives DO NOT GIVE A s*** about this crap. You want to win the election? - SEAL the border, and screw that amnesty s***. One thing at a time. Make sure that the laws mean something. - STOP spending money like drunken sailors - ACTUALLY stand for something re: Iraq. Quit being pussies and get that s*** done and get back home. Do that, and you'll have even more of a majority then you do now. But as it is, they are pandering to every bulls*** special interest f***wad out there. Do not do the above, and sell your soul to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^^^^^^^ HELL YEAH!!!!!!!!! Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi?!?! ACLU Sues Indiana over Child Safe Law

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jun 5, 2006 -> 09:34 PM) Nuke, Thanks to people like you, I've decided to join the ACLU this week. Because I've decided your freedom to speak your mind is important and I want to see it defended - even if you don't. In their case it's freedom to.................. -Be a criminal s***bag who weakens the good order and discipline of society with every breath. -Be a child molesting pedophile who gets his jollies raping small children. contribute -Be a terrorist and plot attacks against America without interference from law enforcement snooping. According to them you can do whatever you want to do as long as it's illegal, immoral, and tears our society down. Every dollar donated to the American Criminal Liberties Union is a dollar given to finance the destruction of our society. Thank you Rex for your contribution. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 5, 2006 -> 09:37 PM) lol Is there any evidence that the ACLU is condoning the act of f***ing children? Just asking. They are noted supporters of NAMBLA so the answer is a resounding yes. Child f***ers of the world dont fret.........the American Criminal Liberties Union has your back!!! -
http://www.newyorkmetro.com/news/intelligencer/17161/?imw=Y What is this guy? He's a f***ing leech is what he is and he's ohhhh so typical of the vermin who took advantage of the government during the post-Katrina period. People like this should be tossed in the slam for a long ass time and forced to make restitution to the government for perpetrating this fraud. You want to know why I don't have any sympathy for Katrina evacuees? This is exhibit A. You people called me racist for pointing out the differences between how the whites and blacks reacted to this crisis but they simply cannot be ignored. The white residents of N.O. have largely returned. They are setting up civic organizations, rebuilding ruined homes and getting back on their collective feet. The black residents, who have returned in much smaller numbers in percentage terms, are too busy squabbling with the city over whether to demolish homes that sit covered with crud in the middle of the street to be concerned with rebuilding. Those that haven't returned are like my buddy here living in NY. They are living in far flung cities, leeching off FEMA money and in the case of Houston, driving the crime rate into the stratosphere.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 5, 2006 -> 09:03 PM) I hope you don't actually think that is why some of us want to get rid of the electoral college. I want to get rid of it because it effectively disenfranchises the majority of the country. When did all this uproar start? December of 2000. Im not saying thats why all people who are against the electoral college feel the way that they do............just most of em.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 5, 2006 -> 08:27 PM) I think people are too quick to ignore the fact that a Democratic nation -- Democratic in the pure, "Voters directly elect" sense -- would be bad in this country, and very much so. Direct elections mean that maniacs like Ross Perot and George Wallace, and idiots like Ralph Nader, can conceivably be elected to the Presidency. It would mean that the rich could TRULY buy an election by spending all their money on advertising -- Perot, as an example -- and a direct popular vote does everything to make it easy for tyranny. Our current system protects us from the Fringe. You might disagree if you're a Conservative who hates Clinton's penis, or a Liberal who thinks Bush Hitler, but I just don't see the reason to replace a system that's worked better than most for two hundred years, has provided for relatively good leadership at every trouble spot in American history (particularly in the worst of times), and prevents the Fringe from taking power. Perhaps I'm just a kook. No. You're not a kook, you're quite right. The only reason we have all this clamor to replace the electoral college system is because the left is still sore about losing the 2000 election.

Kennedy: Repubicans rigged 2004 election
NUKE_CLEVELAND replied to whitesoxfan101's topic in The Filibuster
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 5, 2006 -> 08:15 PM) It bothers me whenever I hear Democrats claim that Kerry was close to a mandate because, "switch a few thousand votes in Ohio and he's the President!" Yeah? Switch a few thousand votes in a few other states and the Electoral Vote is a landslide for Bush. Bush won by three million votes, it wasn't even close in that sense. I really hate that Ohio "I'd have been President if I'd have won it, so Democrats had a mandate!" bulls***. And I'm a Democrat. I just get sick of hearing that all the time on TV. "Let's not forget, Kerry was a hundred thousand votes away" in Ohio, but three million nationally. I'd have thought it the most beautiful of ironies if Kerry had lost the Popular Vote to Bush but won, but I'd have disliked it all the same. It's a tad off-topic, I know, but it's a tad on-topic, too. (To be more concise on THIS subject: no fraud, kthnx. Problems like in most states during elections, but no major rigging going on.) If the idea of President Kerry didn't make my skin crawl I would certainly enjoy the delicious irony of the situation. -
QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ May 31, 2006 -> 05:25 PM) I got a business to run? But only if you speak English? Last time I checked, a dollar was worth the same in the hand of a Mexican, Somali, Japanese or American. Which is all the more reason to admire to the man. He places the value of his principles over the value of a dollar.

NUKE_CLEVELAND replied to whitesoxfan101's topic in The Filibuster
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 5, 2006 -> 08:06 PM) The one problem I have with that statement is that there were genuine electoral problems in Ohio, including the disenfranchisement of thousands, probably tens of thousands. If the election in that state had come down to a thousand votes, like Florida in 00, then it really wouldn't be possible to say who actually won. But IMO, the margin of defeat in that state was just too high for it to really be another disputed election. The big problem though is that the genuine problems that Ohio had in its election wind up glossed over in messes like this. You have 1 side saying "Oh it was stolen!", the other side posting tin foil hat pictures, and then the end result is that the state, and in fact the nation, is simply never able to come together and actually create procedures that would allow for accurate and fair elections every time, despite the fact that I would say most people would think that's a pretty important goal. It doesn't matter what system is in place you're always going to have a degree of fraud and irregularities in every election. BTW. Regarding election fraud, I am willing to bet that Democrats in the Cleveland area and Cuhyogha ( sp ) county were responsible for every bit as much fraud as their Republican counterparts elsewhere in the state. -

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 5, 2006 -> 07:49 PM) Are they really doing that here, or are they just arguing that people who have served their time should have at least some ability to live lives? Here's a thought. If these people can't be allowed to go within 1000 feet of a school, why exactly are they being let out of prison? Thats my point. They shouldn't be. People who prey on children are sick in the head and it takes a lot more than a slap on the wrist prison sentence to fix their warped little minds. But then the American Criminal Liberties Organization would most likely fight tougher sentencing guidelines as well. -

With that kind of creative accounting maybe Enron should have hired a few Hollywood accountants. I can see that though. Can you imagine the cost of feeding Michael Moore during the shooting? They were lucky to make as much as they did. -

QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 12:53 AM) The way they go about it (a program where students are automatically opted in with their personal information being given out without their consent to an organization that has shown cannot keep the data secure) is incorrect. Interested parties will find out the option of the military. Plus, they are a discriminatory organization ("Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy specifically) so they are not allowed in most schools. And when the government threatens schools that don't allow this to go on, they get their funds taken away? That is bulls***. And yes, when you have about 500 allegations of recruiters lying to students to get them to sign up (and that was in 2005...and just the reported ones) A person who wants to join the military can and will. However, the way the government is involving themselves in the school system vis a vis military recruitment is totally asinine. 500!?! LOL! You have any idea how many times I hear from junior troops that whole song and dance about "my recruiter lied to me"? Its been a lot more than 500 I'll tell ya that much. Military recruiters might sugar coat certain aspects of the service and might fail to mention certain things if not asked but at that point its up to the recruit to ask tough questions and make that recruiter do his job. You might have a few recruiters out there who are not truthful ( every organization has its bad apples ) but if you're looking for a pattern of misconduct here you're pissing in the wind. -

QUOTE(Texsox @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 08:36 AM) I always like to see how this could be abused. We know it never stops at this point. What we have is the government tracking how you bought a ticket and when you will be leaving or staying. If this is the slippery slope that we are allowing, where could it lead? The government tracking your road trips as well? Checking in with big brother? IMHO a little bit of paranoia here is a good thing. As a broad overview, the ACLU wants is to have the maximum amount of freedoms and the least amout of government restrictions. With them fighting the government all the way doesn't that keep the government in check? We are smart enough to know they aren't fighting to help perverts look at pornography, they are fighting to let normal citizens look at materials that others may find offensive. It is just to whittle away at those freedoms the government finds loathsome persons to act against. I think we are better served if we look at what is being done, not who it is benefitting in that case. Explain how they want the maximum amount of freedom when they are fighting to destroy the free expression of religon in the school system. They are all about government restricting religous activity even if it's voluntary and student led. In this case they are fighting to make it alright for a bunch of sick individials to prey on children. That is wrong as could possibly be yet they persist.
