  1. frank hitting behind him, no doubt.
  2. i think that's a good point...i like that fact that if i have the day off and i decide i want to go to a baseball game, i'm not limited to standing room only.
  3. i think tomorrow we should dh for dye and have freddy hit
  4. having strike called 3 inches outside tends to make you swing at bad pitches
  5. idk why but it's seeming like that streak has a good chance of ending today, at this point
  6. seemed like mark was getting squeezed a bit.
  7. nice shot of garland eating twizzlers and wearing his hat like a goof...he must be pretty happy after last night
  8. of course he still had to rip hawk, as if this had anything to do with him.
  9. we're in first and they're nine games back...the cubs aren't even worth hating anymore, they're done for, let em have fun slugging it out with the giants and padres for the wild card, they've become the red sox of the NL, you can be assured it won't be them we'll see in the WS.
  10. when i was like 6, my t-ball team got to go to a white sox game and walk on the field...this was in like 87 or 88 i think, ever since then i've been a sox fan...i'm not from the south side though, i'm from the west side and all my friends are cubs fans. i have to admit though, i did like those 89 cubs, i was a big fan of ryne sandberg, damon berryhill (because my first name is damon) and jerome walton. since then i've amended my ways fully
  11. i know that the scoreless innings streak is 59 by orel hershiser (sp?) but i dunno about for relievers...
  12. you know, the last time a sox pitcher threw a no-no was alvarez in 91...tonight would be a cool night for that to happen...
  13. i highly doubt that we'll see RJ going to new york...out of everyone in baseball i think colangelo hates steinbrenner the most. (part of the reason schil went to the redsox)
  14. ugh, at first i thought those were cubs uni's
  15. i dunno it's tough both ways...i just moved back from boston so i have experienced both...it really sucks not being able to watch many games, i remember if there was a sox game on espn or wgn i'd go out of my way to rearrange my schedule to watch it...plus there's everyone assuming, from chicago=cubs fan...but at the same time, nearly all my friends and family here are cubs fans. all in all though, i'd say being able to go to games makes it all worth it - plus in doing that you see how many sox fans there actually are in this city, it's not like everyone makes it out to be, that there are only 150 who watch the sox.
  16. i just got home from the game and man, i could not have picked a better game to go to...beautiful day, great baseball all round on the white sox part...i'm in a really good mood
  17. i'm going...i lucked into probably the best seats i'm ever going to have at a ballgame, section 126 row 4 please please pleeeeease don't rain.

    Moneyball

i read moneyball and i thought it was excellent, although it is a little over the top on promoting billy beane as a genius...Never Die Easy is also an excellent book. I actually enjoy reading Bill James' Baseball Abstracts, i have a couple from the mid 80s, i guess i just get off on all that statistical garbage.
  19. shingo, he has the experience and track record and has already shown he can tear up ML hitters

    Koch Quotes

let's make him the 5th starter
  21. you know, we're not the only ones who can't stand the drunks...the small contingent of true, die-hard cubs fans is pretty resentful of the majority of the patrons of their park too...i think there was a letter in the tribune from a cubs fan today b****ing about how all most people do is go to wrigley to drink and don't give a damn about the game.
  22. we're winning games without him right now
  23. MVP is the only baseball game i've played, and it's pretty good, but there are some serious gameplay issues i have with the game: It takes three hours for all but the fastest baserunners to get to first. It takes another three hours for a fielder to apply a tag after catching the ball. 75% of the time infielders have to stop and right themselves before throwing the ball...waaaay too many infield hits occur in this game. Even on the easier levels, the computer makes nearly every single diving catch perfectly. Or maybe i'm just bad at the game...
