QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 09:08 AM) So, back on the thread's original subject... In case no one noticed last night... Cleveland lost, so... WE ARE ALONE IN FIRST FOR THE FIRST TIME THIS YEAR!!!! We really should have included money on our sig bet.

Well, the whole damn album has leaked (the real album). I'm sure if you were so inclined to download it, you'd know where to find it. I ain't gonna risk posting links on here. I for one will wait (for now at least). From what I hear, it has met its high expectations.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 17, 2006 -> 09:18 PM) There's nothing to complain about, so some people have nothing to say. Guess this means another day of slip-n-slide and hair cut talk.

This time last year, I would have never guessed that Jose would become one of the nastiest pitchers in baseball. But I'm pretty sure I'm not alone. He's just got his s*** figured out.

That opening was so dopey, it was actually funny. Highlight of my day. Now, "don't ever f***ing do it again."

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 17, 2006 -> 09:56 AM) That has to be my favorite episode... Darryl, Darryl...

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 16, 2006 -> 11:57 PM) I remember all the Tool were videos were done in claymation and there were no group photos in any of the CDs that I saw either. I saw APC and the singer performed in this dark circle for their entire set. I thought maybe he had a thing about not showing his face. Well, in their videos, you are correct. They still don't show themselves in their videos. For the most part, they've been religious (for lack of a better word) about letting the music speak for itself. You'll never see them make any promotional appearences, and they rarely grant interviews. Thats why Maynard's MTV interview was pretty strange. If you are interested, you can see or read the interview here. In regards to my favorite Tool album, I'd have to go with Lateralus. My favorite songs are on Ænima, but Lateralus, as a whole, was such a perfectly orchestrated album. Yes, it was a tad more radio-friendly, but it still displayed how crazy good they are. You really can't go wrong with either of them though.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 16, 2006 -> 11:29 PM) See, I disagree because basically now we're saying there is a risk in anything he does, and like I said I would bet there is more risk in some of his daily routines then there is doing this. What if he goes shopping and has a watermelon fall on his foot?? Anyways, I think both of us will agree this is a dumb argument, we're arguing over a giant slip n slide basically . I'll just let it go, no need to keep arguing. Works for me. Although, I could go all night on this topic. There should really be a seperate forum on this site for arguing the virtues of the slip-n-slide. Mods, I hope you are reading this.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 16, 2006 -> 11:20 PM) Once again I see your point and that's a good point because a player has had a freak thing happen to him recently for this club but riding a dirt bike is much more dangerous then a slip n slide. But the principle is the same. No matter how harmless a slip n slide is, the possibilty of hurting yourself is there. And like the Aaron situation, if he hurts himself, it'll be doing something other than what he is paid to do. I enjoy watching it. I think its refreshing to see a player have as much fun playing this game as Mark does. But I can't blame Kenny one bit for his stance on this. I can think of about 8 million reasons that he shouldn't be doing it, not to mention his importance to the team. The risk is small, but still...

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 16, 2006 -> 10:46 PM) is the singer finally showing his face?? Saw him do an MTV interview with Kurt Loeder a couple years ago while he was doing the rounds for the latest APC album, so yes, I guess he is. BTW, I really enjoy APC. A lot of Tool fans hate them, I suspect mostly because they wanted them to sound like Tool. And if you are expecting Tool, you will be disappointed. But that aside, they are pretty talented, and with the exception of Emotive (their anti-war album) their music is pretty solid. Thirteenth Step was phenomenal. And as long as we have a nice little Tool thread going here, what is your favorite Tool record to date?

A.J. was just on the Final Word on Fox and basically said that Buehrle wasn't fined, but KW told him that he will be if he does it again. Sounds fair. The Buehrle slide is fun and all, but why risk it.

QUOTE(hi8is @ Apr 16, 2006 -> 05:32 PM) lets get it on =P hahaha we're both the biggest tool fans on this board =D f*** it Works for me! May 2nd can't come soon enough.

Hello fellow Tool-heads. Most of the s*** you'll find is fake. You just gotta know where to look. Anyways, you didn't get it from me. Vicarious Trust me, its legit. If you got a moral hang up on leaked music, wait till Tuesday when they release it to radio stations. Personally, its everything I expected it to be...f***ing amazing! Enjoy. I beg to differ Hi8is.

Game Thread - 04/13 Garland vs. Verlander
KevHead0881 replied to BigSqwert's topic in 2006 Season in Review
QUOTE(jphat007 @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 12:56 PM) I watched him on Saturday and he was pretty awesome. Just a rookie type outing. He has the stuff, now he'll look to find that consistency, like most rooks. Yah, I've only seen him today, so I'm not exactly credible here. He's definitely got the stuff to be an all-star pitcher in the future. -

He's got good stuff, but I think Velander has been a bit over-advertised. His fastball looks pretty straight, and he appears to have trouble locating it. He's got an excellent future, but what I saw today, not all that impressive. -
It wasn't until this thread that I realized that people think Farmer and Singleton suck. For whatever reason, the first 5 "Farmer/Singleton suck" threads didn't register.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 09:22 PM) Huddy/Smoltz Mulder/Carpenter Pettite/Oswalt (I could buy this) Zito/Harden Those all I can buy. I can even buy Zambrono/Prior just because Zambrono is so dominate. But If I subscribe to that same philosphy Johan/ANYONE as well as Contreras/Buehrle would be on that list. Beckett/Schill #1, what the hell did they do last year and Glavine/Pedro well I just don't think Glavine is that good anymore, however Pedro is still pretty freaking great. Johnson/Mussina is a joke, just about as big as Beckett/Schill. I think Colon/Lackey could round out the list for sure (Colon is pretty damn good). I could maybe buy a Halladay/Burnett if both were healthy, cause each have a lot of potential and well Halladay has been one of the better pitchers over the past few years. I think Halladay/Burnett may be the biggest joke of 'em all. Halladay is a Cy Young type pitcher, but what the hell has Burnett ever done to merit any praise? Even when he ain't hurt, the guy is a career sub-.500 pitcher, and he pitched on some pretty decent Marlins teams. He's basically the slightly less injured version of Kerry Wood. If he was on the Sox, he'd be the number 7 starter. At least in my book. McCarthy hasn't proved much, but at least he can stay healthy. And the other 5, I don't think its much question.

QUOTE(Whitewashed in '05 @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 03:13 PM) BA dropped a pop up? Read the ball wrong. The ball was dropping in front of him and he dove and the ball bounced right out of his glove.

QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 02:52 PM) There's only so much Coop can do if Colonel Sanders is on the other side of Jenks. "I say he dead."
-
Nice game! Jenks was a little shaky, but I actually thought that with the exception of one pitch, he looked alright. Unfortunately, that one pitch made the game a little scary. to Mr. Thome, Jose, Pauly, etc. Just finished watching Thome's post game interview. Gave the Comcast guy a pat on the back after the interview. I know its been said many times before, but he sure is one classy guy.

Regular lineup today, per Scott Riefert's blog... Pods, LF Iguchi, 2B Thome, DH Konerko, 1B Dye, RF AJ, C Crede, 3B Uribe, SS Anderson, CF Contreras pitching.

Funny stuff from Jayson Stark's blog on ESPN.com...

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 08:03 PM) Give Pods a few more weeks to figure it out before you dismiss him as a utility player. Any guy who hits a walk off World Series winner deserves more than a week into the season before people are calling him out like he's been called out around here. Some people really are a tough crowd around here. No kidding. The guy barely had a spring training. Yes, he's playing like s***. But it'll have to take a lot more than a week of suckage to make me turn on an everyday player. Its frustrating right now, but more than likely, you're gonna see other players have stretches like this. Its a long season. It happens. I recall how people were printing Jermaine Dye's ticket out of town after he sucked ass for at least a month at the beginning of last year. And we all know how his season turned out. Could Pods's poor start be a sign of things to come? Sure. But lets play it out before we start lining up his replacements. One week does not make the ballplayer. This can be said for players playing well right now too.

Sox vs. Indians: 4/4 Game Thread

QUOTE(Timoperezrulez @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 11:16 AM) Why is Freddy starting game 2 of the season at home? Everybody knows how dominant he is on the road. I would have liked to see Garland pitch this game 2. Maybe cause its a day game? -

QUOTE(SoxPhan7 @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 11:01 AM) I understand ozzie wants more lefties in the lineup, but BA looked great the other night and i think Mackowiak is much more valuable coming off the bench (he can play pretty much any position). I know it is early to start b****ing about ozzie's lineups, and i know we will see stuff like this all season, but I really want to see BA get as many at bats as possible. I want to see Anderson play as much as possible too, but its a long season. He'll get his at bats. Mackowiak and Cintron are solid enough to demand some starting time. And early in the season, you're gonna see a lot of this. We want our everyday guys fresh for the stretch run. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that Pods doesn't play tomorrow.
