  1. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ May 24, 2005 -> 04:15 AM) Lose a game in a dogs*** fashion like this, where we look like a bunch of f***ing pussies and yes.........things get funny around here. It happens. Even to the best of them.
  2. QUOTE(fathom @ May 24, 2005 -> 04:14 AM) Better in a game like tonight than one in which one pitch by him could decide the game. Like it or not, we only have two guys who we can count on in the pen right now (Cliff and Hermanson). Both of those guys are likely to have a rough patch also soon, so we need to find some relievers we can have faith in. With the exception of a few outings, Marte has been pretty reliable this year.
  3. Lose a couple games and this place gets funny.
  4. Sorry if this joke was used already, but... ...are we facing Johan Santana?
  5. QUOTE(Steff @ May 23, 2005 -> 09:07 PM) Our Timelok trucks make it within the 12 hour drive "on" restricted by the DOT.. it's doable. I'm not doubting you. It would make my trips there a whole lot more tolerable if I could cut them by 3 or 4 hours. I wish there was a way to bypass Nebraska all together. It lasts an eternity and it smells like cow s***. I'm not kidding, the whole friggin state smells like cow s***. They might as well just merge Iowa and Nebraska anyway. I've yet to tell the difference. (apologies in advance to all you Iowa and Nebraska lovers out there)
  6. I've been going to Colorado my whole life and we've never made it under 15 hours, and thats driving straight through. As for places to go, may I suggest the Falling Rock Tap House. Right down the street from Coors Field. Great assortment of beers.
  7. My brother (the infamous Thomsonmi) and I will be there. If you've never been to Coors Field, its a hell of a place. Its even got a Microbrewery!
  8. Frankly, I enjoy Ozzie's rants. Not exactly the most professional way to go about things, but we didn't exactly hire Ozzie for his professionalism now did we? I just chalk it up as Ozzie being Ozzie.
  9. Brace yourselves fellas. Just read on whitesox.com that Crazy Carl will be roaming right field tomorrow. Ugh.
  10. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ May 20, 2005 -> 09:41 PM) How'd Borowski do today? I get a feeling he will play a big part later in the series. Pitched a 1-2-3 inning I believe.
  11. I must say, based on what I've seen from both teams this year and today, I think we play the national league game much better than the Cubs. Then again, what do you expect from a team managed by Dusty Baker.
  12. A very unheralded, but great pickup by KW. His role thus far has been more important than I thought it would be and he has often risen to the occasion. Glad he's aboard.
  13. Right or wrong, there has to be something else to write about other than our attendance. I wish that I was in Mariotti's world, where the only thing to be worried about at the moment is how many people are showing up to the games.
  14. I work at the Herald and personally like them both. But as far as writing ability goes, I think Rozner is very talented and I usually agree with him. The only thing that bothers me about him is that he seems to write about the same topics over and over again. I'd say that he does roughly 30 articles on Ron Santo, 20 on the Arlington Million, 15 on Cubs PR guy McDonough, and 10 on the Ben Christionson story a year. Plus he's a Cub fan. But I tend to enjoy his writing. Imrem on the other hand, offers little insight on anything. I personally believe that just about any one of you can write a better column than him. They are just totally bland. Plus, he doesn't wash his hands after he uses the mens room.
  15. QUOTE(Al Lopez's Ghost @ May 14, 2005 -> 06:42 PM) I agree about the Herald, both in their day to day coverage and their feature columnists. Rozner - Great, Imrem - Bad
  16. This was an interesting read. Basically, an outsiders look on the Sox existance.
  17. In the original view, it appeared as if AJ shoved him. But when they showed the side view, it looked like just your standard tag. The guy just lost his balance. Even if he did tag him a little harder then he had to, it still was nothing for the O's to make a fuss over.
  18. Thank god. Especially this year. At least in the past, you'd get the insight of Steve Stone. But from what I've heard of Kasper and Brenley, they are just awful.
  19. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ May 13, 2005 -> 05:14 AM) kinda hard to keep him off if he does that I say put him in the Hall of Fame if he could pull that off.
  20. If Jon Garland continues to pitch like this the whole year... ...he'll be 35 - 0.
  21. ...when you sit at work, ignore deadlines and let work pile up on your desk on a busy day...simply because you spent the entire afternoon watching the gamecast. Which reminds me, I've got a s***load of work to do tomorrow. Damn day games! No wonder Cub fans are all out of work.
