Further continuing their weirdness tonight, Hawk goes to break and says: "And we'll be back...GO BULLS!" That was out of left field.

Way to go Crazy Carl! I was just about to state how badly the middle of the order was killing us.

Could we be taking a worse approach at the plate right now? Everybody's trying to hook the ball around the left field pole. If we want to win this game, we have to start taking it to the opposite field.

The House of Cards Dilemma
Funny, a stranger would come to this board and have no clue this was a fan site for a 15-4 team. So goes the fandom of a team that hasn't won anything in 88 years, where pessimism reigns supreme.

Canadian singer forgets "Banner"
Yah, that was pretty ugly. I had to kick myself for laughing at the poor girl. Although, it helps to look back at something like this and remind yourself that "hey, at least my day wasn't that bad."

The House of Cards Dilemma
QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 05:44 PM) Really, what I think this season is going to come down to is how we play Minnesota (as it usually does every year). We play them 13 times in August and September. If we don't at least break even, I don't like our chances. Just realized the improbability of us breaking even in 13 games.

The House of Cards Dilemma
If you ask me, schedule-wise, May, June, July and September don't look much harder than the month we're in now. If we are talking about strength of competition, I'd only consider New York, Boston and Anaheim in a class clearly above us, and Minnesota about even. With the exception of August, I don't see the schedule getting significantly harder. Possibly July, because we play Boston and Oakland, but we also get a whole bunch of games against Tampa Bay, Cleveland, and KC. And September might be the easiest of all. Now, I'm sure we won't be winning at the rate we are right now. I just don't buy the "easy schedule" arguement as the reason for our great start, mostly because I see most teams as being fairly equal.

The House of Cards Dilemma
I'd say your a "glass is half empty" kind of guy. Of course, you're entitled to your opinion, and you may eventually be right. But it appears that you tried pretty hard to put a negative spin on this. Why so gloomy?

Hawkins gave up the game tying homer and the game winning triple.

Cubs
Watching Dusty's press conference. Doesn't it seem like he really can't wait till his contract is up at the end of the year?

Cubs
They seriously put too much stock in the significance of getting rid of Sosa. Yes, he was a pain in the ass, and they had to get rid of him. But they seemed to think that getting rid of Sosa would solve all their problems. If you ask me, Hendry blew this offseason big time.

Do you have a problem?
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 07:50 PM) I'll remember that if or when the team slumps......and most teams will slump. All I know is that when we have that slump, I'll have a tough time believing that it will have anything to do with something that Ozzie says.

I <3 Scott Podsednik
QUOTE(ISF @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 07:10 PM) Yes, the groin had a great game last night. He became the first Sox player to steal 3 bases in a game since..... Willie Harris. I am not dissing him.....yet. I am just very wary of basing an impression on a couple weeks in April. I remember Kenny Lofton getting us all excited too. Then he disappeared. Thing is though, our expectations aren't that high with Podsednik. All he has to do is hit around .270 to have an enormous impact on this team. If he could steal 70 bases while batting .240, it's totally reasonable to see him duplicate that, especially if he bats 30 points higher. I don't think he's gonna be the .300 hitter he is right now, but from what I've seen, his new approach tells me that he's not gonna hit .240 either. Yes, it is still early and he could go straight in the tank, but there is good reason to be excited about SPod. And the difference between Pods and Willie? Pitchers aren't scared when Willie is on the basepaths. And why would they be? The guy has failed to show that he can do it consistantly. Pods has shown that he is almost impossible to throw out. And you really can't say enough about the impact that a premier base stealer has on the game when he's on the basepaths.
