  1. QUOTE(longshot7 @ May 29, 2007 -> 05:44 PM) been out of town - what were the moves the Sox made following Ozuna's injury & Sisco's demotion? Dewon Day and Andy Gonzalez.
  2. I'll put it this way. Arm: Anderson > Rowand > Erstad Range Anderson > Rowand/Erstad (even) Routes Erstad > Rowand > Anders Anderson was by far the most talented and because of it the best, but Erstad takes super routes and gets the best reads of the bunch. Rowand was just flat out solid at everything (although I know most will knock his arm because its not as accurate as it should be and fact of the matter in 05 his arm was piss poor).
  3. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 29, 2007 -> 05:36 PM) In terms of defense, he's our 3rd best defensive CF in the last 3 years. Now I know that's a high standard, but 3rd best out of 3 years does not equal superb. What, when Rowand was one of the 3-4 best in the game 2 seasons ago. Brian Anderson was one of the 3-4 best in the game last season. Ya, that would mean superb. In fact I think Erstad has been as good as those two were (or at least very close).
  4. QUOTE(aboz56 @ May 29, 2007 -> 05:35 PM) Your man crush on Erstad continues... Of course. I appreciate the way he plays the game. I also understand you can't have 9 superstars in your lineup and Erstad is the type of role playing starter that flat out helps you win.
  5. QUOTE(fathom @ May 29, 2007 -> 05:30 PM) Haha....nice read by Erstad after Hawk is praising him. What a joke. One bad read...big whoops. It sucked and it could have bit the Sox but the guy has played superb in center.
  6. Well done Paulie. He let the ball get deep on him and drove it, 1-0 Sox.
  7. QUOTE(briguy27 @ May 29, 2007 -> 04:11 PM) another one is how about the signing of colon. colon pitched 1 season for us, and all the expectations we had of winning the world series and such, he went 13-12 or somethin around there, and we missed the playoffs The Sox gave up El Duque, Rocky Biddle and Antonio Osuna. How in god sakes is that a bad trade. Colon was fantastic for the Sox, especially down the stretch for a brutally under-achieving team. The guy than got a huge contract from the Angels, won a cy young and obviously missed most of last season.
  8. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ May 29, 2007 -> 04:43 PM) Noberto Martin back in the day. More recently I liked Jeff Abbott and Greg Norton. Paco was the motherf***ing man. I also liked Lyle Mouton, Greg Norton, Julio Franco.
  9. QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 29, 2007 -> 03:12 PM) Oh, you better tell me. That was nearly 2 hours of gold. Ya, it was.
  10. Haha...boy did I f*** up this week's podcast. Heads/Dan, you don't even want to know what happened.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ May 23, 2007 -> 10:28 AM) "Lazy Eye" by Silversun Pick Ups. Go on their myspace for a listen. I know nothing else about this band except that this song is Pumpkin-esque. I thought IT was the new Billy Corgan experience. Silversun is pretty good
  12. QUOTE(shipps @ May 28, 2007 -> 07:32 PM) Per Yahoo sports Bulls GM Paxon inquires about Seattle's Nick Collison and of course the dreaded Gasol talk again. If they could get Collison I'd be all over him. I think he's vastly under-valued. The main question is what would that deal cost (if they would be interested in some of our role players I'd be all for it, but again I don't see what sense that would make from Seattle's perspective). I find it funny that people think Noah isn't an athlete. Thats singlehandedly the one reason why anyone would even consider him a top 10 pick (and it is why he would have went #1 overall last year). The guy projects to be a fantastic defensive player and the question is obviously whether you could get him to do anything at all offensively (a big if). But for people to question his athletism is inaccurate, imo, and in the end if the scoring big are gone I at least want the Bulls to find another athlete up front.
  13. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ May 28, 2007 -> 09:13 PM) but I really begin to question why they havent tried him in CF yet. We got Erstad, Sweeney, and Brian Anderson that project there. He's just at SS because the Sox have no one in AAA right now who can play short (we really don't have one in the entire minor league system). However, I figure being at short could help him a bit but I'm with Bear it can't be pretty with him playing short.
  14. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ May 28, 2007 -> 06:33 PM) And to think that Hawk was GM of the Sox at one point... It is a scary thought.
  15. Ya, I doubt he's going to play in the majors. However, he's a decent fielder and either way I could give a hoot because I don't think Andy Gonzalez is a major leaguer either. It is kind of sad that this team doesn't have any type of position players it can call up that are even close to major league ready (well Fields may finally be there, but he doesn't have an open position at the moment) and BA and Sweeney are close (but again you have to wonder about BA just because of how many holes he has in his swing and well Sweeney already showed he wasn't quite ready (not good enough with the inside pitch yet).
  16. People are vastly under-estimating the Sox farm system. It lacks the high level prospect but its got an assload of good to mid-level prospects and has a few guys down in the lower levels with the potential to develop into top 50 prospects (in all of baseball). It happens though because there was a point where the Sox system was vastly over-rated and now its shifted the opposite way. The one problem is a serious lack of any sort of middle infield and catching prospects. We are decent in the outfield and solid at 3rd/1st but that is about it. We also have a supreme lack of those high ceiling guys (but like I said there are finally a couple of them starting to sprout up but it is still far too early to see whether they truly turn into high ceiling guys and than at that point we'll have to wonder if they reach there ceiling).
  17. I don't see how people can slam Masset. He has some nice secondary stuff and as a starter he has an above average fastball that sustains its velocity and life late into games.
  18. What the Sox need is at least one solid veteran reliever (someone that can teach this young arms a thing or two) that isn't named Cooper (because he can only do so much). We need an outfielder and we need a reliever.
  19. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ May 28, 2007 -> 11:37 AM) Actually he was more successful against lefties in the minors than righties. I would rather him face lefties since righties will see his slider for slightly longer and have a better chance of laying off it.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 26, 2007 -> 11:05 AM) It's pretty debatable if he ever threw that hard and he certainly doesn't now. I know he never threw that hard. I saw him throw multiple times when he was at his best and he was 88-90.
  21. QUOTE(fathom @ May 27, 2007 -> 07:09 PM) I'd take him in a second for a deal around Gordon, Tyrus, and the 9 pick. IF that was all it took, count me in. But I think you'd have to find a way for salaries (albeit you could probably sign Gordon to a fat contract and that would help even out the salaries). He cheated on his wife. I'm not saying I'd cheat, but that is all he did. The rest was bunch of bulls***. And well, fact is if you are going to hate on athletes for cheating than your going to probably hate almost every athlete out there.
  22. I just want to say that I hope someone puts Mike Vick in a cage and lets those dogs go to town on him. What a sick f***...I hope he gets jail time, gets suspended by the NFL and has the entire world turn on "Mike Vick". I dislike him more than any other player in the NFL now.
  23. I'm stoked to see Day up here. He's got major league stuff, but I'm not sure if he has major league command yet.
  24. s***...I can't believe Fullerton is a 2 seed. We've had some serious injuries and have just collapsed the past month or so. But lets make things interesting Titans!!!!
  25. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ May 26, 2007 -> 09:49 AM) Saw it late last night. Maybe because it was later, and I had worked ALL day, but there was just way too much going on for me to care. Just sub plot after sub plot after sub plot, and it was just a little too much for a going summer action movie. Maybe I should give it another chance when I am well rested, but maybe not... I saw it last night...and my thought is similar to yours. Of course I also fell asleep for about 30 minutes of the movie because it was so f'in boring (way worse than the first two, which I really enjoyed). But again, I was freaking exhausted going into it and the movie ended at like 2 AM. Thank god I didn't pay to see this thing.
