  1. Shoot we have like 4 or 5 offices that are closed. While they are relaxing, I'm continuing yet another 12 hr work day.
  2. I thought we had won the game and than I saw Hinrich going nuts and realized he wasn't celebrating he was pissed at the foul being called.
  3. Taylor & Butch have hit some huge shots for the Badgers, both had some big ones against the Hawkeyes and those two guys are the reason why Tucker is so good because he can and will pass to those guys when he gets the doubles and they both are fully capable of knocking down the big shots.
  4. I will be there over the last weekend of spring training. I won't be in Tuscon for any games as I'll see the Sox play in the Phoenix area two times and than see two non sox games.
  5. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Feb 13, 2007 -> 01:31 PM) every team uses the same rhetoric. cliche' But Kansas is one of a handful of teams in the country that has the talent to back up such claim. UNC, Florida, UCLA, OSU are the 4 other teams that do. Wisconsin goes down to any of those teams when they play at there absolute best (even if Wiscy does). However, Wiscy does a nice job trying to prevent other teams from having that sort of game and they can grind teams out of there element (and they find a way to win and have some very good wins) which is why they are no doubt a title contender.
  6. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Feb 13, 2007 -> 12:29 PM) haha Self better than Roy...that must have WsoxShuf you were talking with. Jimbo hates Self with an ubridled passion.

QUOTE(longshot7 @ Feb 13, 2007 -> 10:05 AM) saw Letters from Iwo Jima over the weekend. Wow, just a terrific film. Loads better than Flags of our Fathers. Basically a small group of Japanese soldiers are given this suicide mission to defend this tiny island against a zillion Americans, and told that they'll receive no air support, navy support, or reinforcements. Watanabe and the other lead (an unknown) are amazing. It's a little depressing as you realize almost every single character you've met will die, but as the story unfolds, I found myself getting so tense as to when and how. And for the first time, I rooted against the Americans. Definitely Best Picture material. Speaking of which, I watched Flags of our Fathers last night for the first time. I had high expectations for it and ended up being a little dissapointed. Overall it was a solid flick, just didn't meet my expectations. I'll definitely want to check out the version from the Japanese perspective.
  8. What a joke. If you wanted to get rid of him you should have done it earlier when you could have retained Cam Cameron to be your head coach. That said I can see the logic of making the move now, they lost both coordinators so if they were going to make a coaching move now would be as good a time as ever since regardless of whether Marty is the head coach or someone else is your going to need to bring in almost an entire coaching staff (and the best way to do that is to bring in a head coach now and let him bring in his guys) since they screwed in the first place.
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Feb 12, 2007 -> 12:02 PM) I've been begging the Sox to sign Perez for a while now. He's fantastic against LHP, and he did very well in his brief time in the AL Central last year against the top lefties in the division. He'd be a great guy to have face the likes of Santana, C.C., etc. I just hope he can make the 25 man roster. Great signing! My question is where does he fit on the 25 man roster? He definitely gives us two good Right handed bats off the bench (him and Hall) but the guy can only play first base (IIRC) and we have Thome/Konerko who both can only play first or DH. My question is this, Would we not play Thome against real good lefties and instead go with Perez? I know for the most part I wouldn't simply because Thome is a better player and draws a ton of walks.
  10. I am unclear of where we would play him since we have a couple DH's/1st baseman but Perez is still a pretty darn good hitter against LHPing.
  11. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Feb 12, 2007 -> 10:41 AM) It doesnt matter, everyone knows that team is the worst Super Bowl team by far. I really cant even think of 1 good player on that team. Atleast the Broncos who got smoked by the Niners had Elway, and the Bills had a few HOF's when they got killed by the Boys. ALthough Denver did take 2 beatings if you count the Redksins too. The Chargers had a terrible super bowl team that one year they got in and took the biggest beating ever from the Niners. I'd like to say 94 but I may be wrong. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Feb 12, 2007 -> 11:32 AM) The Bears lost by 12 against a heavily-favored Colts team. Our QB was responsible for 4 turnovers by himself. Nobody can tell me that we couldn't have won that game. I hear people saying we had no chance from the beginning, but that's hot garbage. If our QB doesn't give the ball to the defense FOUR f***ing times, we probably win that game. EDIT: Sorry, he was responsible for 3 turnovers. We recovered the one fumble. But fumbling 2 snaps in one game is laughably terrible. That bulls***, in the beginning of the game the Bears had the opportunity to turn that game into a potential route. We had the early TD, a stupid ass coverage mistake and a couple horrific turnovers (The Rex & Gilmore fumbles were pathetic) while the Benson fumble I give the Colts credit for. Early in that game the Bears had a few chances to give themsleves a very good size lead and at that point we'd have been able to start controlling the situation and would have put Peyton into a much more pass happy offense which is exactly what I would have wanted. The Bears instead failed upon those opportunites (the early fumbles we had forced) by just making absolutely awful turnovers (Grossman & Gilmore's early on).
  12. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Feb 12, 2007 -> 11:42 AM) I think Widger did play third in that game. Wow. Ha. True, he could DH from time to time. In Oakland, after Crede was playing SS and got ejected we ended up going with Dye at SS and Widger at 3rd IIRC.
  13. QUOTE(StatManDu @ Feb 12, 2007 -> 09:29 AM) With today being the 26th anniversary of the White Sox acquisition of Marc Hill, I got to thinking: Is Toby Hall the typical backup catcher? I can see him getting more playing time than the typical reserve backstop. I love the guy and think he is a great player but AJ Pierzynski lagged defensively a year ago and may be starting to show some wear and tear from his extended action behind the plate over the last few years. On paper, this is the best catching tandem the Sox have had since ... LaValliere and Karkovice? Hill was a solid backup to Fisk but he came to the Sox with nowhere near the resume that Hall has or LaValliere had. I wouldn't be surprised if Hall got 250-300 at bats. I wouldn't blame Ozzie if he used Hall as a late-inning defensive replacement. It will be interesting to see how this all pans out. www.whitesoxalmanac.com Hall should get a good deal of playing time. AJ is still the starter and will handle the load but he clearly tired down the stretch last year. I think Hall will play against the vast majority of Left handed starters and will even come in late in games on ocassion (if we have big leads) to give Aj a bit of a rest. I also think people vastly underrate Hall's defensive abilities. He's got a pretty good arm behind the plate.
  14. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 12, 2007 -> 07:44 AM) I didnt think he looked bad at all. he looked head and shoulders better than BA IMO, and looked to improve in his at bats. IM not sure where "bad" came from. Sweeney may not have had amazing numbers in his short stint with the big club but he looked a boatload more confident and comfortable at the plate. My biggest problem with Anderson, offensively speaking, is how completely lost he still looks. His development may just be similar to Joe's, who prior to last year would look completely lost at times and early on in Joe's career he looked lost a whole lot. Ryan is much more of a guarantee at being a solid every day player than Anderson is and Sweeney also has the ability to be a star. Anderson does have one thing, he should always have a roster spot simply as a defensive replacement but he does have the ability to be an all star centerfielder (if he can figure out how to hit and yes the tools are there, but that by no means guarantees he'll be able to hit).
  15. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Feb 12, 2007 -> 07:48 AM) They were one of the worst Super Bowl teams in the history of the event. No other team has come out and been as embarrassing as this years Bears team since the '85 Patriots. It's been discussed that nearly all teams that made the AFC Playoffs would have been beaten the Bears; outside of Kansas City, I might agree. The Bears are who I thought they were. A team that was successful in the worst division in the league and also the worst conference in the league. Clearly the Jets were better than the Bears...afterall they did beat us in there home stadium right? Oh wait, wrong. For god sakes we out played the Pats in New England and could have and should have won that game. Albeit I give the Pats all the credit for finishing and pulling off the win but the Bear bashing is beyond ridiculous. We pretty much rolled through the season and people still whine.
  16. I take it they upped the number of games on WCIU?
  17. QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 11, 2007 -> 06:31 AM) My son made Life at 12 and Eagle at 16 almost 17. Lots of fun in-between. Philmont (returning this summer) One of my Scouts made Life at 12 and is wondering which is happening first, his 18th birthday or his Eagle Board of Review. BTW, I have a couple openings for camp staff here Aquatics Director and camp medic (First responder, EMT, nurse, etc.) I was bummed, when our troop went to Philmonth I wasn't able to go because I had a baseball tourney. I heard that was one of the best camping troops/experiences from my friends that were able to make it. That said I wasn't that big on what rank I made, I had tons and tons of badges but just didn't focus much on doing some of the minor details needed to advance rank so I lagged big time. To me it was about spending time with good friends, camping, and learning and while doing all that you were having a lot of fun. To this day my favorite merit badge was the shooting one.
  18. QUOTE(shipps @ Feb 11, 2007 -> 12:28 PM) I seen The Shins last night at the Congress.Absolutely stellar,I liked thier new album but these guys sound even better live, totally made my birthday. s***, I didn't realize it was your bday. Happy belated birthday Jeff
  19. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Feb 10, 2007 -> 09:51 PM) I love skim milk, always have I don't know what it is but the stuff is just so damn good. I can't stand 2%, it's like drinking cream. Disgusting. I just thought you'd like to know this. I am the exact same way. I can live with 1% but anything more than that is just ewww to me. Skim Milk with a little nesquick = the best.
  20. QUOTE(The Critic @ Feb 12, 2007 -> 08:54 AM) Just an "educated guess", but I believe SnR may be ovah. Hope I'm wrong, though, those were some wacky broadcasts. No more Macho Man
  21. I haven't seen any of the SNR guys around in a while but I'm sure as soon as they announce when they'll be doing shows you'll see something posted here.
  22. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Feb 10, 2007 -> 01:53 PM) Bastard. Are you serious...did you at least hit the backboard and is there any footage of this anywhere
  23. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Feb 10, 2007 -> 01:07 PM) Haha I cant believe some one is saying Iowa is better than Illinois. Its almost impossible to win at Indiana and the fact that Illinois stayed in the game shows that they are atleast the 4th best team in the Big 10. As for the Big 10 being down, that is some what perplexing. OSU and Wisconsin are both in the top 5, if one of them was in the 16 range and had loss to a team like Illinois etc that would put 4 Big 10 teams in the top 25. Just because the top of the Big 10 is better than most of the other leagues does not make the middle of the road teams bad. Barring something crazy Illinois is in the tournament. I believe Iowa plays at Illinois to end the season and Im gonna say Illinois wins that game. Considering we've played you guys as good as any team in the conference pretty much (on both basis) I think it is hard to say that Iowa is a bad team right now. Early in the season we had our struggles and we still lack a 3rd scorer but we aren't that bad of a squad. We won't make any noise even if we did by some shocking way make the tourney but I don't think Illinois is that much better than us and lets not forget Iowa didn't lose to Ill by that much (albeit it wasn't quite as close as the IU game).
