QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Feb 10, 2007 -> 12:42 PM) Tell you what go through this site RPI and tell me how many major conference teams have been left out of the tourney that had over 20 wins and were over .500 in conference. 4 teams are probably all the Big 10 gets, unless some teams get real hot. Had Iowa won today and regardless of the record they probably have the better overall resume plus the better conference record. Lucky for you guys we pissed it away with a f***ing inability to rebound anything. Wisconsin had a zillion second chance points and again was able to shut down Haluska and Smith (you do it once and I am skeptical, twice and I tip my hat). f***, I don't know why but of all the games this year the Wisconsin ones piss me off the most cause we very well could have one those games (well that and the piss poor blown games against one of the other Iowa schools and ASU). I will say this, Iowa right now is a borderline tourney team (if not a lock) but the problem is they were so terrible early on in the year that they probably aren't good enough to over come that hole (a win today would have been HUUUGE and now they'll have to have a couple big road wins and pretty much win out the big ten for them to have a chance). -

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Feb 9, 2007 -> 09:55 PM) I would like Iowa State to beat Texas tomorrow. I would like Iowa to beat Wisconsin tomorrow. -
QUOTE(BigEdWalsh @ Feb 9, 2007 -> 11:05 PM) I'll sound like a total nut for saying this but on at least 3 different occasions I've seen UFO's. Go ahead and laugh. The first time was in 1967. I was with my mom somewhere near Crystal Lake driving east. Out on the horizon I saw this light looking much like a distant airplane. All of a sudden, it just zoomed straight south and was gone in an instant. My mom says, "Did you see that?!". So, she saw it too. The second time, about 15 years ago, I was with my wife driving very late at night just outside Lake Geneva, WI . Exactly like the other incident we both saw it and both exclaimed, "Did you see that?!". Then, approximately 6 or 7 years ago, I had a security job in Lake Geneva where I sat in a patrol car and watched a parking lot from midnight until six in the morning. I spent a lot of time star gazing and I saw some peculiar things. One night in particular, I saw not that far away, a light that seemed to be a helicopter. It was only maybe 100 yards away. I unrolled the car window and didn't hear a sound. After a few seconds the "thing" went shooting overhead and disappeared. It never made a sound. When I tell people about this stuff, which isn't very often, people think I'm nuts or making this up. Oh well, who cares? I know what I saw. Just for the record too. I grew up in a very old huge house in Elmhurst. I heard things often and was with a few friends once on the front porch when we all saw this guy who kinda looked like a bum. He was just walking through the yard and suddenly he wasn't there. It was like he walked behind a tree and vanished. It was real weird. And again, I wasn't the only one who witnessed this. We (my family) would often hear footsteps on the front porch but no one would be there when you opened the door. My dad said he saw people on the front porch on several occasions dressed in like early 1900's clothing. That house was totally creepy and very definately haunted. So, yeah, I believe in ghosts too. I won't call you crazy and the stories were neat. Love hearing this type of stuff.

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Feb 9, 2007 -> 11:02 AM) On a couple of boards I hit there are quite a few conversations going on about UFO sightings, and this is being triggered by what seems to be a rash of sightings over the past year. I just kind of figured, what the heck, why not let the fine folks of Soxtalk jump on board with the stuff also. So...anybody here believe...have you seen one...or do you believe it to being a bunch of "hooey". If you don't believe, how do you explain the massive amount of sightings of late? I completely believe in UFO's. I may not think we are about to be invaded but I believe in life on other planets. Now whether that would be creatures like us or mere microscopic organisms I don't know, but the solar system is huge with numerous galaxies and I'd have to believe you have life somewhere along the lines. Maybe there are places that are far more high tech than us, maybe there are places far lower high tech but I am very confident there are microrganisms somewhere else in the world at the very least and I wouldn't be shocked if there were civilizations on other planets. I also believe in ghosts. Have I ever seen a UFO, probably not, although when I was camping one time my friends and I saw something that could have been a UFO. We were in Catalina island for boy scout camp and were doing some star gazing when we noticed something moving (as if it were a plane) very high above us. It was moving very slow across the sky, the light than stopped (it was very far away so it was a light bigger than a star, but nothing to where I could tell you what this actually was) and than it shot across the sky another direction, stopped, than shot across the sky again and stopped and than launched completely past our field of vision (and the speeds we are talking about are amazing speeds, nothing humans are capable of). Again, I have no proof that it was an actual ufo but I have never seen anything move like that in my life.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Feb 9, 2007 -> 03:34 PM) I'm waiting until Jas blames Carroll's dirtyness on Iowa State. No, but I will blame you and Northsider for ISU's dirtyness

She's South African and absolutely beautiful but wow talk about some dumb comments. I don't think anyone, whether democrat or republican (that is sane) would compare our freedoms here to the ones in Cuba.

My ears are starting to perk up to Romney. I like what he's been saying.

QUOTE(chimpy2121 @ Feb 9, 2007 -> 06:49 AM) USC is in trouble again. Now they are checking out if Bush called McKnight. In his recruiting call, Mcknight said that Bush and Carroll were on the phone with him and thats what convinced him. Carrol is now denying it happened. USC is so dirty under Pete and now maybe finally things will come crushing down on them.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Feb 8, 2007 -> 09:04 PM) Odd, I was nominated for 5 categories and only won 1 of them. There's only one reasonable explanation for this . . . you're all f***ing idiots. The stats show you lost, but luckily I'm a scout and still consider you a top notch posting talent

QUOTE(SnB @ Feb 8, 2007 -> 06:43 PM) I think michael was the most unlikeable ever in tonight's episode. Michael's character is one of the few on tv that can flat piss me off. He was such an ass and thats why I love it...Carrel plays the part to a T. But Dwight, yet again some more classic Dwight and Jim moments.

Hope you all have a good one, especially one of the funniest posters on Soxtalk...Ribbie.

QUOTE(Felix @ Feb 8, 2007 -> 09:43 PM) Because then, if you aren't a big name or from a big name school, you won't get any big prospects. By approaching everyone, you are spreading more seeds (figuratively of course ), and the more seeds you spread, the more trees you are likely to have. You can approach everyone, its not like guys commit after one day. Its just after a guy commits you should respect it. Obviously there are guys that waver on there commitment and that is there right but I don't think you should have guys whispering in there ear (at least collegiate coaches) telling them to dump the commit and join your program.
-
QUOTE(Felix @ Feb 8, 2007 -> 09:24 PM) From what I understand, Tim Brewster has been doing the same, but I have no problem with it. He's in a situation where to get the top prospects, he needs to recruit them to no end, regardless of how they stand. Brewster is in a bit different of a situation though but still I just am not a fan of it and I realize some programs do it but why not do it like Ferentz does where you don't actively go after him, however, if the player approaches you than you consider it fair game. Ferentz has also been known to tell his guys to make sure they are ready to committ. But Kirk is real classy and of course I'm biased (that said you already saw me slam the coach of my other team).

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Feb 8, 2007 -> 07:21 PM) I'm an ND fan, but wow is Weis ever talking out of both sides of his mouth/wants to have his cake and eat it too when it comes to recruiting. He's gonna get torched for this, and rightly so. I'm a huge ND fan too but Weis is a f***ing prick when it comes to recruiting. The guy knows no limits when it comes to going after guys that have already comitted. He went as far as saying telling guys that had recruited to Iowa that..."commitment is just a word" (making it sound like nothing at all). Real freaking brilliant. Its the problem with pro coaches that go to college (and Carrol is 10 times worse than Weis when it comes to going after guys that have signed with other schools) they haven't been around the recruiting and as such they just don't give a s*** and have no respect. It freaking sucks. Luckily aside from Smith (who had a dream of playing at ND but wasn't originally recruited by them) none of my Hawkeyes bought into the crap Weis was spewing. And Smith will probably regret the whole ND thing, ND gets a lot of play on TV (and they are one of my 2 favorite programs) but they haven't had near the success as Iowa has the past few years at getting guys to succeed in the NFL (Greenway was hurt but 1st round pick, Abdul Hodge did great for the Packers, Steinbach, Gallery a high pick albeit has not lived up to his hype, Bob Sanders, Dallas Clark and we have a few DT's and DE's in the league as well. I can't think of ND having many pro guys with success as of late. Albeit I think that will change with the offensive set but on the defensive side of the Ball that has yet to be proven.

I'm still surprised they would let the one other leave for the other island. Wouldn't he know the other's secrets and be able to give all of the people on the island a good idea of who the others are? I mean Juliette didn't have to let him go and he sure as heck wasn't part of the deal Jack brokered. Just seems a little odd considering how protective the others are of there background (as to what exactly they are doing on the island).

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Feb 8, 2007 -> 03:11 PM) No, you were defeated at AH earlier. Unless you are guaranteeing a BTT game. I'm just a tard. I'm thinking more so of the fact that its a good chance that we will play you guys the last game of big ten season and than in the first game of the BTT tourney. -

QUOTE(Jimbo @ Feb 8, 2007 -> 01:00 PM) Kansas is just as young too...Paulus is crap and McRoberts is overrated. Suffer Rat Face Let me add that UCLA is insanely young..no seniors and very few juniors on there squad. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Feb 8, 2007 -> 01:11 PM) Duke has had better recruting classes than Kansas...There is no way of ever defending Duke. Coach K picked the wrong players and they suck together. The only decent talent is Scheyer. I can't really say that Duke sucks. They are still a top 20 team in this country and somehow they have a top 5 RPI (than again Arizona is in the top 10 based on RPI and frankly I don't think they are that good of a team). Still I'd be the first to admit Duke has some talent, I just don't expect them to win the tourney this year nor do I consider them one of the handful of very very good teams in this league. They are still good though (better than my Hawkeyes, lol). QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Feb 8, 2007 -> 01:34 PM) Its wierd thinking about a 1-2 seed for Wisconsin. The difference in the quality of opponents is astounding compared to where they generally are put (between 5-8). (And looking at that bracket I dont know how Illinois didnt get in. Barring some major loss id say they are about 80% chance of making it right now.) I think the big 10 only gets 4 teams in with Michigan State and Illinois battling for the last spot and Iowa being a sleeper (still have two games left with Illinois) if they can nearly win out there last few big 10 games (not counting the Wisconsin game, although a win against Wisconsin would do wonders for there RPI and for the team confidence). And yes damn it I'm giving Iowa a small shot. -

I'm guessing the medication Juliette made has a little something to do with the kid. Last night was yet another fantastic episode, but than again I haven't gotten tired of the show at all and it looks like it is going to be a doozie of a 2nd half of season 3. 2 more seasons left after this and than we'll know a whole lot. By far still the best show on TV in this genre (Jericho is 2nd) and than of course you have the action action based 24.

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Feb 7, 2007 -> 08:41 PM) Losing Nick Young is really going to hurt though, he's my favorite non-UNC player in the nation. Amazingly under-rated by the public before this year. Ya that guy is a stud for the Trojans. I still can't believe how no one is talking about USC. They have some top notch wins and have been in pretty much all game all season while playing in one of the top conferences in the land. -

Great game going on over here on the left coast with UCLA and USC battling it out for tops in the Pac 10. USC is going to be a dominate basketball school with OJ Mayo joining an already talented squad next year. I can't believe it took this long for Tim Floyd to get another gig considering how good of a job he did with the Cyclones. By the way, the Duke game was a real good one and UNC got the win. And dan, you should be happy Sheyer had a career day (26 points) but Duke ended up losing so it was like the best of both worlds (kind of like hot ice). -

QUOTE(Felix @ Feb 7, 2007 -> 07:30 PM) meh.. Haluska refused to miss anything tonight... spoiled Spencer Tollackson's best game basically. Oh well.. at least we've got the Floyd of Rosedale You won't have that Floyd for long though Awesome win by the Hawkeyes tonight. Great to get a road win and now we got a real big challenge going up against the Badgers in there house. Hopefully Tucker won't be as ridiculous and that Tyler Smith will actually show up this time around
