QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 07:28 AM) Two things: - We're not going to get Wells for just one of our starting pitchers. - Wells is going to get a contract in the 8 year, 140 million dollar range...we can thank the Cubs for this ridiculous market. If all it took was one of our starters (hopefully one not signed for the next couple years) and Brian Anderson I would be all over that deal if: we could get him to agree to a 5 or 6 year deal at 15 million a year. I don't know if he would agree to that, but I think if you throw some options and extra incentives that make things worthwhile maybe. Than you can decide what to do with Dye knowing you can afford to just let him walk for draft picks or even trade him since Vernon would be one of our big bats all while playing/filling a much tougher position (CF) and doing it very very well. I'm sure the Dodgers would be all over a deal centered around Kemp or James Loney (maybe even Andre Ethier), Jonathan Broxton and another prospect. Or a deal centered on Billingsley and one of there outfield prospects and something else.

Williams working on extension for Buehrle/Garcia
Chisoxfn replied to Gene Honda Civic's topic in Pale Hose Talk
This is great news. We sign one of these guys and it may get some of you all that want to trade half of our rotation for prospects to maybe finally realize we aren't a small market team right now and are able to spend money and keep our horses together. Yes we should have young guys waiting, but why force them into things when we can let them slowly develop. Even if one signs an extension, Bmac will be in the rotation and on top of that this team may have the resources to still go out and sign someone else. Kenny doesn't care about next year, he knows with these guys under contract he can worry about shaking things up next year if he needs to (payroll wise). Thats why I don't understand all this concern over prospects, we have no reason to force the issue to trade guys (especially if we resign one of them). What star are we going to lose if 4 of our starters are signed and the 5th is Bmac. Our pen is young and Kenny trades our relievers before they become FA's anyway (which keeps them cheap) and aside from Dye, all of our bats are signed or at least under our control (although Crede may end up being gone via trade). -
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 08:54 AM) If we're giving up Buehrle, I want both Pelfrey and Milledge back. Thats what I said...in addition to getting one of Heilman/Humber. If that doesn't work than they can go walk.

QUOTE(iamshack @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 07:44 AM) I don't know if this has already been posted, my apologies if it has. It's a Scott Merkin article about a rumored Mark for Milledge deal. http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article...rtnered=rss_mlb One of the newest rumors making its way around the Swan and Dolphin Resort on Monday involved the movement of White Sox southpaw Mark Buehrle via trade to the Mets in return for outfielder Lastings Milledge. If we resign Freddy, I think we could make a move that allows the club to get Pelfrey and Milledge plus one of Humber/Heilman. Buehrle does have that much more value than Freddy/Javier if you ask me and we shouldn't ask for anything less. QUOTE(iamshack @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 07:55 AM) There is not a chance in hell Minyana would do that deal, but were he to, I would take it and run as fast as I could- even if we had already traded Freddy to another team. Remember what he gave up for Bartolo Colon? Now he actually has a team with the resources to trade for an ace and sign that ace to a long term contract (Buehrle or Garcia).

QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 4, 2006 -> 04:15 PM) Am I the only one who would love it if we signed Bonds? Considering some of the other ex-juicers that people want us to trade for, I don't see why so many are upset about his 'roid use. I know it won't happen though, but it's fun to even see it rumored. Are you kidding, that would be absolutely fantastic.

QUOTE(bmags @ Dec 4, 2006 -> 11:02 AM) figgens and mcpherson are they just throwin s*** out there now? Technically thats not that awful of a trade. I'd like to get them to give us an additional arm but I really am a big McPherson fan. So if we really think Joe's gone its not that bad of a deal. I also like Dallas a lot more than I like Fields.

Im a big fan of this move.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Dec 4, 2006 -> 09:53 AM) They can throw in Hamels, remove Rollins, remove Rowand, add Fabio Castro, and we'll remove Anderson. Garcia for Hamels + Fabio Castro = thumbs up. = PUKE if you ask me. I wouldn't be against the Rollins/Rowand for Garcia deal to be honest. Rollins gives the Sox a damn good leadoff hitter (also means we have Uribe as trade bait for a prospect or two or a reliever or whatever) while Rowand gives Ozzie a legit CFer. I've came to the realiziation that the club doens't like BA so I don't want to see Mack out there, that means I'm a fan of anything that gives us a legit CF and Rowand is that (he's over-rated by a lot of people but he's still decent). I'd prefer other trade scenarious though.

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Dec 3, 2006 -> 07:26 PM) See that's where you and I differ. I'd be thinking there won't be anybody out so this is a great chance to get all the best candy!

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Dec 3, 2006 -> 08:41 PM) Got a link? No, I just remember him saying he plans on fullfilling his contract. Obviously its not 100% but he's said that quite a few times. I know TMac has said something similar as well.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 3, 2006 -> 05:37 PM) The thing to think about may not be the per-year total. A month ago, I figured if ARod opted out of his deal, he might get something in the $14 mil range for 4-5 seasons. But then I saw what teams were shelling out for guys who don't have near the track record of ARod. ARod might be passing up $81 million over 3 years, but he might be passing that up in order to sign a deal worth $100-$120 million over 6-7 years, or even more than that. Especially if the market keeps going up. And he's consistently said he plans on retiring when that deal runs out. Whether he does or doesn't, I don't see him walking away from that deal.

QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ Dec 3, 2006 -> 05:48 PM) It is a broken system there really isn't a solution here. I think what should have happened was after Michigan lost to OSU they should put both USC and FLA ahead of Michigan. I believe the voters looked at the outrage over Nebraska (which didn't even win it's division much less conference) getting in that they did not want a repeat of 2001. The best thing that could happen for the committee is OSU win because if FLA wins all hell could break loose and for one don't want a good football season to be tainted so go OSU! Thats exactly what I want. Unless its my team, I route for the system to fail because consistent failures are what gives me my small hope that we'll eventually some sort of playoff system. -
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 3, 2006 -> 06:48 PM) Please stop. Dont compare an avg QB to a hall of famer. Griese had ONE good season and thats what you are basing this on? (and when I say good, I mean good, it doesn even touch Elway) Come on, take your head out of the clouds and dont compare the two ever again. Rex is the QB, he has more talent than Griese and is a team leader. Everyone needs to find another outlet for the b****ing about the NFC North Division Champion Chicago Bears. I agree. Rex has done a lot but that deep ball that the pick was thrown in floated up in the wind...end of story. It was a fine read, the only bad read was the one where the LB snuck behind the ref and than came out (Rex obviously didn't see him and that was his mistake). The play calling is terrible and our lack of talent at the WR position (I think we have some guys with talent, but they aren't NFL WR's right now at least not top notch ones) is coming into effect. I also think we've had absolutely zero production out of the TE because we've turned to an all or nothing offense thanks to the ridiculous ass play calling from Turner. I'd like to see a lot more quick developing routes when our QB is getting 3 guys in his face every time he snaps the ball (and that was the case throughout the game) and will be the case since teams are trying to force turnovers. But instead Turner continues to call plays that take a while to develop even though we are getting blitzed numerous times all game (and have been for a few games and will continue to do). Lets make some f***ing adjustments and start calling a more balanced game. Where are the crossing patterns that worked so well for most of the season, the posts patterns, the button hooks...where has all of that gone. More importantly where are plays where our RB blocks and than goes through the line to drift as a secondary option or just a plain and simple screen pass. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Dec 3, 2006 -> 06:59 PM) If Rex can play like those QB's we can definitely win it all. The things those QB's didn't do that Rex does is turn the ball over. All he has to do is protect the God damn ball and we are good to go. If he goes out there and has one of his 4 turnover spectaculars we are in trouble. No if we have an OC who continues to call for passing patterns where we have no options aside from heaving the ball 40 yards or going to some stupid little pass to Jones who is never open (not a designed screen play just a play where he is a secondary option in the flat thats poorly written up since he's the only receiver even in the area so we really haven't overloaded or anything) in a game with s*** passing conditions...than we'll be in trouble. Turner needs to get his head out of his ass and quickly.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 3, 2006 -> 02:40 PM) Bears win their division for the second year in a row. I, for one, think Ron Turner called a terrible game today, and it appeared the WR's were running lazy routes, not to mention the drops. Turner has been f***ing awful about the last 5 weeks. I also want to know where Benson was. Jones wasn't doing s*** against the stud Viking run defense while Benson was kicking ass. Benson is our best back and I've been saying that for a couple weeks. More Benson...less Rex (no not benched, but better play calling cause the s*** we are calling is absolutely awful) ...similar dose of Thomas Jones.

I meant to say one of you should send him that text message. I didn't send one cause I don't know his number. My typing just sucked as usual but I think it would be hillarious. I even though something stupid like Milledge for McCarthy would be hillarious cause he'd be ridiculously pissed. -
That is super cool. I love that type of stuff.

Cool story and welcome aboard Roland is an interesting man. He sometimes goes on talks that are a little too long but he's a very kind man that loves the game of baseball.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 2, 2006 -> 06:37 PM) GATORS FOR TITLE GAME QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Dec 2, 2006 -> 06:41 PM) Is Danielson doing enough to promote Florida right now? f*** him. I could care less if people vote for Florida, but listening to him campaign makes me want to puke. To act as if Michigan doesn't even deserve consideration is assinine. Let the SEC whining begin. This next week will be hell living down here, dealing with the whining if Michigan does go to the championship and with the Bama coaching search and a different rumor every hour of the day. Spurt in the winter meetings and it makes for one hell of a week -
More specifically we didn't want him at that price and now the Sox have the option of potentially bringing him back for less. No one was going to give up draft picks for him and Kenny wasn't about to be stuck with this guy (which is going to happen). I love draft picks, but this isn't the type of guy you offer arbitration to. A lot of the other relievers that didn't get arbitration offered to them were better than Riske too, so all those GM's must be horrificly stupid as well.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Dec 2, 2006 -> 05:44 PM) Urban Meyer calls his third timeout and then punts. Results in a touchdown. I still have no clue what Urban Meyer is doing on offense, he's running with Leak, and he's burned all his timeouts. But the timeout apparently froze Arkansas return man. What a genius strategy -

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Dec 2, 2006 -> 04:38 PM) I'm pretty convinced that should USC fail to come back, that Florida will jump Michigan and go to the championship game. I just think there will be too many people that will argue against a rematch and that will give Florida credit for their schedule, regardless of how they struggled at times. They got it done, and I think that will be enough. That said, I still think USC finds a way to win this game. Well now its looking good for Michigan fans. I still say if Florida wins they should be the team that plays OSU though. But Arkansas has all the momentum. What a f***ing idiot. Arkansas guy calls for a fair catch at like the 2 and fumbles it and we have a Florida TD...YESSSS!!!!!! What a dumbass, bahahaaaa. Oh and U....C.....L....A....UCLA...FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!!!! -
Working on Saturday's sucks ass. I logged 62 hr's of work this week. Thank god I get to enjoy the night tonight and than get to enjoy Sunday before having an 11 hr day on Monday (WOOOO). On the bright side the Bruins WON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Dec 2, 2006 -> 06:08 AM) I do enjoy it as well. I like the fact that they don't give you full information about what is going on and who everybody is. Except of course that frustrates me too. And how do you guys know it's not realistic?? There is nothing to compare it to. Is it difficult to believe? Sure. But then again, it is TV. True, I will admit you never know....a nuclear war isn't the farthest thing in the world from happening. I just hope it never does. Sucks we got to now wait till February to find out what happens. Are they doing something online in between?

QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Dec 2, 2006 -> 03:10 PM) I have a 60 priest on Zul'jin and had alot of fun getting there, but now the game feels repetitive. My new pastime is Xbox Live if anyone wants to play Gears of War. I'm gonna be bumming that in a week (was playing it next week) so count me in on that. The game is ridiculously fun (I also must admit the coop is badass too).
