  1. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 03:31 PM) LOL you were the first one to use the word "whitty".... It was part of my plan to make Boz say Whitty. Thats my story and I'm sticking to it.
  2. Welcome aboard.
  3. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 03:30 PM) There might be, but i'm not sure what "whitty" means I think he's calling the Hawkeyes a team full of unathletic whitey's. Its alright though...the Hair Club for Brunner is gonna get on him.
  4. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 03:28 PM) There's no such thing as a whitty Hawkeye fan. But there is such thing as a Hawkeye fan with the power of banning Unlike this siamese Sparty/IU fan
  5. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 03:26 PM) Here's a good post from Peegs pretty much summing up my thoughts on Almighty Thad, winner of multiple national titles and countless conference championships: I found it bizarre how many three's they just jacked up when they have the Big 10 player of the year inside ready to foul out Marco. I think I made the comparison. IU and OSU are very similar teams talent wise and skill wise. Each team has some really good outside shooters who feed off the big men inside (Dials and Kill). Dials has been the more effective player, but at the same time IU had some injuries and of course they failed to live up to there potential as well.
  6. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 03:24 PM) How 'bout we just split the difference and call him Haluska's b****. I love having a whitty Hawkeye fan on this site. Thanks cheat
  7. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 01:50 PM) Yeah, but Tyson's "normal nights" include altering shots left and right like a tremendously poor man's Bill Russell at the age of 23. Put a legitimate SG and a legitmate C on this team, and you'll see just how far we'll go in the long term with Tyson wreaking havoc on the offensive glass/playing legendary defense in the paint. Let's separate championship teams from pretenders: It's all about points in the paint. We may have a guy who could turn out to be THE MOST EFFECTIVE PLAYER IN THE NBA in terms of limiting Opponents FG% down low. Pair him up with a scoring C and then we'll see what's up. And yet, you continue to b**** and moan about the 2001 trade. I'm gonna have to take a s*** on those short term thoughts. Brand might have the work ethic, but he ain't got the rare quickness, height, length, wingspan, or leaping ability to have that type of effect on the defensive end. I use my eyes. No paper arguments here. Don't worry, I won't mention specifics from the "Brand is a better defender than Chandler" argument that took place on here a while back. Brand is a scoring assassin down low, and while I'd love to have him, I'll take Tyson's defensive upside and get my scoring punch elsewhere (C, SF, SG, bench). Brand is special, but he's not that special. He's listed at 6'8, but he's barely 6'7. He damn near defines "Undersized PF". Tyson is a true 7'1 with the makings of a legendary shot-altering force. And yes, being a Tyson supporter is pretty f***ing sweet right about now, ain't it? He's beginning to tap into his potential. Always remember that we're talking about a 23 year old. Brand is still a beast defensively providing really good shot blocking presence. I realized what Krause was trying to do, but there is no way I can ever say that trade will be good for us. Brand >>>> Chandler and will be in the future as well. I like Chandler, but If given the choice I'd reverse that trade.
  8. QUOTE(SuperSteve @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 03:17 PM) 4.6 40.... he's a WR. (another place has him at a 4.5 40). I think Haluska on the high side is at 4.4 (IIRC). It doesn't always show cause he's not the greatest dribble though. Trenton is a beast of an athlete though. By the way, good seeing ya around these parts again Steve
  9. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 02:57 PM) Brown busy still... Browns | Jurevicius agrees to a four-year deal Sat, 11 Mar 2006 14:49:29 -0800 Adam Schefter, of the NFL Network, reports free agent WR Joe Jurevicius (Seahawks) has agreed to a four-year deal worth about $10 million with the Cleveland Browns. Another solid WR gone. Ie a WR with experience, good hands, and the ability to run good routes.
  10. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 01:54 PM) Washington. If its true and they've traded for Brandon Lloyd, that would take them out of the picture. Pitt appears to be willing to match any contract (as long as it isn't ridiculous). I sure as hell hope someone not named Chicago offers up a ridiculous contract cause I don't want him. Now if it were an affordable contract I'd shut up, but he's gonna get way overpaid. Just ask Lions fans how great of a deal Az Hakim was. Hakim was a better player than Randle El too and just like El was a mediocre WR.
  11. Wow 2 easy shots missed and OSU wins.
  12. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 01:54 PM) Cyrus Tate will be a really good player for Iowa, other than that I don't know a lot about those guys in that class except I think the dude with the long name is Canadian. Sweet, thanks for the input. I hope you guys are right.
  13. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 01:45 PM) I like what I see so far. Not watching National Championship-calibur basketball, but we are seeing two teams going at it pretty hard on both ends. IU is being pretty agressive on offense even when Killingsworth is not in there. That has been a problem in the past. Been some good shouting going on too. Terrence Dials is a beast though. But when you think about it, IU and OSU are similar teams with that inside out game. Dials for OSU and Kill for IU. IU has some good outside shooters as does OSU.
  14. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 01:25 PM) Washington is close to landing Lloyd which would hopefully take them out of the ARE sweepstakes. Also...ARE is visiting Chicago tomorrow, Archuleta on Monday. Damn, Lloyd is another guy superior to Randle El.
  15. OSU opens up 8-0 and IU comes storming back based on a nice substitution by Davis.
  16. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 01:13 PM) Iowa has 3 players signed and another committed for next year. They have Justin Johnson, a 6'6" JuCo SG, Cyrus Tate, a 6'8" JuCo PF, Jamie Vanderbeken, a 6'10" freshmen, and Malik Perry, a 6'5" SG (freshmen). All of them are 3 stars on Rivals, and neither of the freshmen are ranked in their top 150. Thats not too bad of a class correct? Ie they aren't getting any stars, but quite a few solid palyers. Plus this is a team that could use some Juco help.
  17. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 12:51 PM) Fixed. Hey, you probably know more than I do about this, but how has Alford been doing with recruiting this year? Do we have any decent ones coming in. My guess is all the speculation with Alford/IU is hurting him, but at the same time our strong play and almost the rebirth of fanship has to be helping (it seems like the crowds started to get really good late this year). I know little about college recruiting, usually I just know what I watch from a year to year basis. By the way, do you think Alford has improved a lot this year? Or am I just crazy, cause he really has gotten the best out of these guys and I love how this team plays defense. I've long been a believer if you can consistently play defense you'll have a shot to win any game.
  18. Well Iowa moves to the finals for the 3rd time in Alford's tenure. I'm sorry, if I were an IU fan all I'd have to do is watch at how Alford's coached the Hawkeyes this year. I'd be all over hiring him. The guy lives IU basketball and would be a huge improvement at in state recruiting. Give him the pipeline IU can have access to and he'd do some really good things. Horner Haluska Hansen Brunner Henderson Everyone of these guys has consistently gotten better and thats a sign of a good coach. Even Tony Freeman has consistently improved throughout his freshman season. God I hope Iowa can somehow keep Alford. He's shown me he's gotten past his mistakes (ie Pierce). Its just tough to recruit at Iowa, especially with ISU whipping us in recruiting.
  19. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 12:44 PM) I was referring more to the game that's up next, not tomorrow's game. I doubt tomorrow's game would really affect seeding that much anyway. I realize that. I just have to say I think Iowa, Ill, and OSU are capable of beating almost any team in the country. I don't think we could handle Nova or Uconn. Texas gave us some trouble early in the year, but at the same time we were in that game for a large chunk of it. God I'm getting my hopes up for a horrid collapse.
  20. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 12:42 PM) That's why it's over, you guys (at least based on what games I've seen) are good at the line late in games. 3 pos. game with 22 seconds left, now it's for sure over. We are a good shooting free throw team. But there were a couple games recently that we held onto, but gave the other team life based on poor free throw shooting. Horner had been in a mini slump at the line.
  21. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 12:40 PM) OSU should have better legs than MSU had, that's for sure. If Iowa gets in the finals I could care less. A win would be cool, but I just want them entering the real tourney healthy. And if we meet OSU in the tourney, I know the Hawks are capable of beating them. We took them out once this year (although we beat everyone at home).
  22. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 12:39 PM) Congrats to Iowa, however I will take whoever wins game 2 to take the trophy tomorrow, and I think it might just be Indiana. It ain't over yet. We got to make our free throws.
  23. Ager hits another bomb from long range. He's now 5-10 from there.
  24. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 12:37 PM) This game and the fact that both teams are tired is just another reason why there shouldn't be a conference tournament. How much better would the big ten be if everyone played the extra 4 games and had a balanced schedule? I know, i know, it's all about money. I agree. Although I just think they should do the conference tourney a day or two earlier.
  25. These announcers are ridiculous. They just said Trannon could stay with Haluska. Haluska is a freaking sprinter. He isn't the greatest dribble and Trannon is a great athlete (I think he's also a TE on MSU's football team) but in a speed race he has no shot with Haluska. Ager just hit a huge 3 to cut it back to 5.
