Can Paulino Reynoso = Damaso Marte?
Reynoso has an arm the Sox brass loves. I know he's one of those guys Wilder is really high on. He also throws a decent slider, but command is a big issue. Definately has some upside, but he's going to have to consistently throw strikes before he reaches it.

The Bulls site may be open by tonight. I'm working hard to get the smilies in and get a couple other skins available.

NFL Off-Season Rumor Mill
QUOTE(T R U @ Mar 12, 2006 -> 05:51 PM) That is going to be tough to match for Seattle, that is a monster contract.. Especially with it being front-loaded. I read a few different places that this deal will make it near impossible for the Seahawks to match. Although if the Seahawks were going to go out of the way to bring a guy back, Hutch would be that guy. This offer is very similar to the one the Bears offered Tait and how it was frontloaded so that KC couldn't match.

I am Finally back..
I just want to first off say welcome back. Secondly I want to say that TRU stepped up. He was originally banned for coming back on this site and creating a name while he was suspended. Since being banned he has not tried to come back around and try to sneak back onto the site. Instead he patiently waited, every once in a while contacting me and asking if there was any way he could eventually get back on. Just this past day I got a PM from another member and than talked to TRU about the whole situation. The key was that instead of going around, TRU and another member took the initiative to contact us and try to go about getting back on the site the proper way. TRU was a good poster on this site, who maybe had some flaws, but he also knows sports and has a passion for the Sox and sports in general. With that, I want people to understand that he was let back in for following the rules of his banning and we respected that and are willing to grant him another opportunity. Welcome back

OFFICIAL Bracket Rant Thread!!
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Mar 12, 2006 -> 05:28 PM) Please don't tell me you think they deserved a 2 seed over Illinois or UNC? He's implying your lucky Tenn is the 2 seed in that bracket. Sure you may have been seeded low, but Tenn is the worse 2 seed and would probably be the worse 3 seed. That means your bracket is a lot easier thanks to that.

Catch-All Anything Thread
QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Mar 12, 2006 -> 05:21 PM) Did I just see T R U on the active member list? My computer must not be working. He's going to be making a post shortly, but he has been unbanned. I'll be explaining it in his post. I know we had a whole issue with jabroni coming back so he's going to make a post and than I'll respond saying he was allowed back into the site and why. That way everything is out in the open.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 12, 2006 -> 04:55 PM) That's what I'm hoping, I actually love the WVU draw, I didn't want to face a team with an inside presence down low cause that could give us fits. We guard so f***in well on the perimeter, I'm just absolutely thrilled with that matchup. It would definitely be fun as hell to watch us go against each other, like cheat and I already said...wow, that game would be unbelievably low scoring. Even scarier is that I happen to think after the 2nd round game, whoever comes out of this area (be it Iowa, SIU, NWS, or West Virginia) we meet up with the 2nd best team in the country (not by polls) in my mind. I think Uconn and Texas are the two best teams out there, with Nova a slight 3rd. Memphis is insanely talented but those 3 teams I mentioned are the 3 best in my mind.

BMac role change?
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 12, 2006 -> 04:37 PM) That's why it's good it's happening in Spring Training and not in a crucial part of an important regular season game. My point is, I think it's more likely as Jason said that we'd trade for a guy who could fill in that role if Hermy got injured, instead of changing B-Mac into a setup man. Technically speaking I said by seasons end Bmac will be our main setup guy along with Cotts. I firmly believe that too. Bmac is going to play a big role for this team.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 12, 2006 -> 04:35 PM) NW State is a pretty damn good team too, don't get me wrong..I think you guys will win but NW state can definitely play. I sure hope so. I know Heads is praying to any god that will listen for Iowa to come crashing down. We are strong defensively, so if we can get going and play well in a neutral area (we should have been almost at home in Minny) than we should be alright.

BMac role change?
On the Soxtalk Podcast I said that for this team to succeed and for the pen to be better than expected, everyone will have to stay healthy, but most importantly Bmac will have to assert himself in as the setup man along with Cotts. I think he's capable, but Politte wasn't as strong in the 2nd half and Hermy has to prove to me he's healthy. If Hermy's healthy he won't be as good as he was last season, but he'll be solid. This team is still one arm short to open spring and it will need another arm around the deadline.

OFFICIAL Bracket Rant Thread!!
Despite the low seed, Ill is in one of the easier brackets. Only thing is they have the best team in the country as the #1 (despite there loss to Cuse).

1 game at a time, but I'm shocked we didn't play ourselves into the Minny regional. But all that matters right now is Northwestern State.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 12, 2006 -> 03:39 PM) #1 Villanova #16 Monmouth/Hampton play in winner #8 Arizona #9 Wisconsin #5 Nevada (huh? Nevada AND Washington 5's?) #12 Montana #4 Boston College #13 Pacific #2 Ohio State (no surprise) #15 Davidson #7 Georgetown #10 Northern Iowa #3 Florida #14 South Alabama #6 Oklahoma #11 UW-Milwaukee More upset potential in this thread...#11, #13, #10 that 8 vs. 9 matchup is great. Interesting.......to me, this region seems pretty meh. Iowa should have been the 3 in this bracket, but I agree this is a much more normal bracket. I also think its the easiest one cause all the brackets screw jobs left some pretty good teams seeded too low, imo.

OFFICIAL Bracket Rant Thread!!
QUOTE(SnB @ Mar 12, 2006 -> 04:15 PM) I'm going to go on a record and say I have an awful record in this year's tourney. Usually i finish top 5 every pool, but this year, I have no clue what the f*** is going to happen in way too many scenarios. Oh yeah, to stay on topic ILLINOIS AS A 4 SEED IS BULLs***. But we are the masters at predicton. We should call ourselves: Soxtalk's Magic Eight Balls.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 12, 2006 -> 04:21 PM) I'm with you 100 percent here. Got to find a way to get past uconn but a real weak 2, a real weak 5 imo, unc is solid but I believe Illinois is better, I know msu is going to be everyone's sleeper but until they defend I don't think they do much. I think our draw is a lot harder. Hopefully we'll be matching up with each other. Two defensive teams going at it. West Virginia is a tough team.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 12, 2006 -> 03:31 PM) #1 UConn #16 Albany #8 Kentucky #9 UAB #5 Washington (WOW!!!) #12 Utah State #4 Illinois (WTF?!?!) #13 Air Force #2 Tennessee (WTF??!!?) #15 Winthrop #7 Wichita State (Valley) #10 Seton Hall (hmm......) #3 North Carolina #14 Murray State #6 Michigan State #11 George Mason (hmmm ok.....) That bracket is f***ED UP!!!!! Illinois got f***ed, I'm suprised at some teams that made it. There are teams in this bracket that don't belong, this bracket is TOUGH AS HELL overall, the seeding is bad. Terrible job committee. Illini are going nowhere . I actually think you guys got a decent draw. Seedings are off, but I think your matchups are solid.

Kansas is too low in this bracket. UCLA got a lot of love.

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Mar 12, 2006 -> 03:16 PM) I can't be GW dropped that much. But I'm mad that Iowa is in the bracket, plus I could see them losing to West Virginia in the 2nd round. Iowa got jacked. This is a strong ass portion. West Virginia, a quick Northwestern State Team; Saluki's are under-rated. Of course NC State on the other part as a 10 is a joke. They are better than that. Texas is in my mind the best #2 out there (sorry I'd much rather be playing OSU than Texas). Iowa's really going to have to step up, they got a tough ass draw.

Official Big Ten Tourney Thread
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 12, 2006 -> 02:39 PM) That was win #10 against teams ranked in the top 25 at the time of the game. 10-3. Despite having 8 losses, this team has beaten more good schools than pretty much anyone in the country. I got real high expectations and am starting to see elite 8 possibilities and even an outside shot at the final 4. Man am I setting myself up for a big crash, but they play such strong team defensive, make free throws, and have some good leaders. Plus they've had tremendous coaching all season.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 12, 2006 -> 02:16 PM) When Alex Thompson is burying a huge 3, it just may be your day. GO HAWKS!!!!!!! Ya. Alfords been raving about how Thompson has been playing in practices, but on game day he tends to be a more passive player. That was awesome when he hit that three and the whole team was out there on the court celebrating. Great win for the Hawkeyes, but the important stuff starts later this week.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Mar 12, 2006 -> 02:35 PM) Jas, I really dont think you should waste your time. If you want to kind of complete the circle by adding in the Hawks, thats one thing, but I really dont know if there will be that much of an interest. If you do go down that route, I will be all the help I can be... Ya..thats farther down the road, especially considering the fact I don't even follow hockey much. That said maybe the Hawks will get the #1 pick and dumb luck there way into taking the right guy and turn things around. Ehh, maybe wishful thinking, lol. Hell an Illini and Notre Dame board may be more wise. But next on the list is the Bulls site (probably opening when I get back from ST in 10 days cause I got midterms and reports this week). Than there will be a good break as those two sites grow and the Sox season starts.
