QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 09:02 PM) IT'S SPRING f***ING TRAINING!!! Defensively, Anderson is far more ready. He's far more capable of being very good in CF. Offensively, I don't think I'd say Anderson is more ready.

Well I'm calling it quits for the night in terms of work. But the page is back up with most stories. Still have to restore the main center story and the feed to Cheat's blog. That'll all be done by tomorrow.
-
Its back up. Just restoring the stories. Alex, if you see this, can you redo the download section in the next couple of days? Gracias
-
Its more some random server thing thats bothering me. Not any upgrade per say. It actually has to do with getting FutureSox switched to a new server, but its caused some down time on ST's main page.
-
I'm in a grumpy ass mood as to why the front page isn't up for a day. Luckily my typo cheered me up

Working on some stuff so I've pulled it down. Jas

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 01:08 AM) Please show me where all the Ben Gordon jock riders are.... you, hammer, qwerty, chisxfan.... majority of people do nothing but rip on him endlessly here.... its crazy how little props Gordon gets here compared to other places... and yes you gave him a little credit but you basicly pinned the loss all on him too and if it wasnt for him we wouldnt even of been in the situation to begin with. When a guy has a great game overall but messes up once I usually look the other way because without him it wouldnt of even been a game in the first place... I'm very fair with Gordon. I don't think he'll ever be anything more than a scorer. Problem is he's a scorer who doesn't a tweener which means he's best suited as a 6 man scoring machine (ala Bobby Jackson in the Kings hayday's). Gordon is not the answer at the 2 spot, therefor he should be packaged. Why should it be Gordon. Deng has a great future at the SF spot. Hinrich probably should have made the Olympic tryout roster over Ridnour and he's one of the better PG's in the league both offensively and defensively. Chandler is one of the few guys we have that is tall and while he can't score he can defend and get offensive and defensive boards. Plus his contract is an issue for a team that would want to acquire him. Ben Gordon comes up because he's pretty much s*** out of luck. If the Bulls want to go anywhere we need a legit 2 guard (Gordon can't do that nor can he play the point) and we need a legit low post scorer (obviously Gordon can't do that). Therefor, Gordon is the odd man out. I've given Gordon a lot of credit, but at the same time I'm not shy to rip the s*** out of him. If he's not scoring and shooting at a high % he's worthless cause he has no other assets. Its just like when Chandler was getting zero minutes and doing nothing defensively or on the glass I was ripping the crap out of him. However if he's a defensive force and a force on the boards thats just fine. Especially since he's our last option. I'd also go out on a limb and say the reason you see Gordon get less credit is because we aren't the normal fan. Sure a flashy move is nice, but we all tend to look at the overall ability of a player and not just the sexy aspect of a player (ie whether they can score). There is a lot more to the game of basketball than scoring.

She's average. Amazing snowboarder though. Obviously she doesn't look super hot when she finishes up a run, at the same time magazine shots are gonna make her look better.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 03:47 PM) I'm not so sure of that. KW seems to have some serious man-love for Anderson. And who replaces Anderson in CF if Sweeney replaces him? The Sox don't seem to want Podsednik playing CF. But I agree that Anderson will probably stuggle. He takes some wicked cuts at a lot of bad pitches. I think both Owens and Sweeney will be getting hard looks in 07. One may not be here or both could, but they will be getting looks. Sweeney has played some CF, not that he's amazing out there, but Sweeney is a very good athlete. I think Anderson has all the tools defensively and offensively, but its a matter of his swing working. Vladdy somehow gets his ugly as hell swing to work so maybe BA can too. Sweeney on the other hand...just such a sweet swing. Its one of those swings that will translate to a very high average. I've long said I think he'll develop power later on in his career as he learns to drive the inside pitch. I honestly think he could come up and play this year and hit in the .270 range. He'd have to make some adjustments and would struggle at times, but his swing is too good not to (if his wrist is healthy).
-
QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 03:26 PM) Agreed, repeat AA and then go to AAA for the 2007 season. BY 07 he should be in the majors. All he needs is a healthy year in the minors. He has too good of a swing not to succeed. He's been on the fast track already and I'd go more along the lines of a month or two in Bham, rest of the year in Charlotte. Sweeney may be replacing Anderson and not Dye in the immediate future. I actually think Sweeney could come in and hit better than Brian at the major league level right now. Anderson has a lot left to prove cause I have my doubts as to how his swing (which is ugly as hell) will work at the major league level.

Bears interested in Ramsey

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 04:37 PM) Don't forget Ramsey was a 1st round pick himself, and under Spurrier he was starting to throw the ball nicely and was beginning to put up some fairly good numbers. Then Joe Gibbs came in, and basically killed all the momentum he has because he wasn't "his guy". The Skins should stick to their guns IMHO. Besides Culpepper and Brees, unless you go to the draft, there's not a lot of alternatives on the QB market. If I was a team like the Lions, Bills etc. I'd take a long look at Ramsey for a 3rd. I reiterate, just because he was a 1st rd pick doesn't mean they will get value for him. Everyone knows they will either trade him or release him, especially considering the cap problems the Skins are having. Plus Ramsey hasn't done anything under Gibbs and the guy took the beating of his life under Spurrier. -
Ben was one of the main reasons this team got to that point, but at the same time there is no doubt in my mind that he should be dealt with someone else or one of our picks and someone else for a big time shooting guard or low post player. Yet another night where the Bulls played great while losing. By far I think they are one of the better teams in the east, they just fail to finish. Noc has been playing amazing as of late.

White Sox Acquire Infielder Alex Cintron

QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 05:14 PM) Everyone but one person has had good things to say about it. Even the Baj supporters think it's a good move, and the radio reports state Cintron will be a utility outfielder, and Mackowiak will be in the outfield. I think its worth noting that R&W never said it was a bad trade. He simply said it wasn't a steal. He said it was a good trade, but the Dbacks made it more because of cash considerations. Doesnt' take away the fact that it was a good move. I think he said that the move favored the Sox, just not in the fashion in which some posters called it a steal. I tend to agree because a steal would be the type of deal involving a player who is expected to have a huge impact on the club. For example...when we acquired Bartolo Colon...that was a steal. We got ourselves a super star for Osuna and some mediocre prospects (I think Rocky Biddle was a part of that trade as well). -

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 05:10 PM) And if you go back and read the thread, he never once brought up or mentioned a Red Sox player first, and repeatedly tried to steer the conversation back to this particular deal. I got to see his fandom, Alex Gonzalez, and Manny Ramirez all mentioned off of the top of my head by other people who weren't RnW. Stick up for the White Sox all you want, but what the kid thought of Alex Gonzalez meant nothing to what he thought of the deal. It would be like me following around RockRaines and mentioning Charles Macon and Maurice Clarett as failed OSU Buckeyes everytime he posted about the White Sox. One has nothing to do with the other, and doing so would ruin just about every thread it got posted in. This thread was about the Baj/Cintron deal, and that is exactly what RnW posted about. He didn't like the deal why most everyone did, and instantly someone had to mention the Red Sox, then we got 8 pages of crap with an occasional nugget of good conversation mixed in. Maybe the problems between everyone got resolved at the end, but the point I am making bore mentioning in my opinion as an admin. Just because the kid is a Red Sox fan, doesn't mean every single thread he posts in where he disagrees with somone, they have to mention the Red Sox to validate their arguement. It makes for terrible threads. Maybe now RnW can post without someone mentioning the Red Sox, or WhiteSoxJosh can post without someone mentioning Kyle Orton. Great post. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 05:02 PM) I'll ask this....this thread has absolutely nothing to do with his Red Sox. We're all talking about the trade, and everyone is saying how much they like the trade because either a) Cintron is a very solid utility player or B) the great Baj is gone. Then, redandwhite comes into the thread, and basically rips it to shreds saying how he makes too much money, has a low OPS, how the Marlins would have traded for him, etc. It's funny, but I never thought I would be accused to causing trouble by sticking up for the White Sox. As much as their was whiny b****ing going on between myself, redandwhite, and rock, we still managed to discuss in details various aspects of this trade, etc. Considering that Jason was in the middle of this discussion talking about the trade, I thought things were resolved at the end. I disagreed with some of the arguing that was going on, but at the same time some good baseball discussion came about from Red and White, you, rock, and others. I just wish people didn't attack R&W and bring up the BoSox even when it isn't discussed. I think there is a lot of really great info and debate in this thread and while you guys argued Red Sox for a bit, I thought that while you guys obviously disagree and maybe even dislike each other, you still for the most part hammered it out with different facts. -

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 04:19 PM) I think in the right situation Ramsey can very much succeed in the NFL. And I think they'll end up gettin a 3rd rounder for him. Remember the Travis Henry situation? They held out for a long time, and eventually the Titans ended up giving the Bills a 3rd rounder. If the Skins can afford to hang onto Ramsey with their current cap situation, they may very well try and go down the same route here. I think a 4th or 5th will get a deal done for Ramsey. He's a solid QB and I wouldn't have a problem in that. I think he's better than any of hte QB's you would draft in that round. However, if Daunte is released I would make a full pressed effort to sign him or at least consider doing so. The guy had 38 td's in one season and would instantly become the best QB to ever play for the Bears. -
What channel is the Italy game on? On a sidenote, that 8th inning was a joke. Two major league hitters went swinging at garbage in between a pair of walks. Utley hammered that, what a nice catch. Still, USA better rebound against South Africa.

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 03:11 PM) Well, there's no way with how you've turned out that you were going around decieving people with made up trade ideas, making up false personalities, and being an all around pain in the ass. Please tell me I'm right. Ha. But 3/4th's of the posts on here are made by one of my personalities. Safely I can say I do my best to report what I know and aside from bad grammar, I'm pretty accurate. -
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Feb 21, 2005 -> 07:19 PM) Fact or Fiction: A White Sox starting pitcher will win 20 games this season. Fact....I think Buehrle will be a 20 game winner with Garcia coming right behind him and getting quite close Fact or Fiction: Willie Harris will be on the White Sox opening day roster. Fact....Regardless of Iguchi's potential, he's still unproven and because of that the Sox are going to keep Willie as a backup plan. I also am a firm believer that if dealt, Willie will have a good major league career. Fact or Fiction: Orlando "El Duque" Hernandez will toss more than 140 innings this season. Fiction. No chance in hell. Fact or Fiction: Shingo Takatsu will record more than 30 saves this season. Fact. This team has a good bullpen and he's gonna get plenty of save opportunities. He's got a nasty changeup to go with his fastball and since he doesn't depend on his velocity I tend to think he's one of those guys that can be sucessful even as he continues to get older. Fact or Fiction: Scott Podsednik will set a career high in both batting average and OBP this season. Fiction...I think he will have a good season, but he's not going to put up the rookie numbers in hitting. Fact or Fiction: Frank Thomas will play in more than 120 games this season. Fiction...unless we are adding playoff games into the mix. Fact or Fiction: Carl Everett will get more than 350 at-bats this season. Fact. Most definately. Carl is going to be a bigtime contributor and you'll see him have a very good season in a type of 10th man role. Fact or Fiction: A White Sox starter other than Mark Buehrle or Freddy Garcia will throw a complete game shutout this season. Fact. Jon Garland will as will Contreras. El Duque will not throw a complete game and the Sox would be nuts if they let him considering how fragile he is. And finally....Fact or Fiction: The White Sox will win the American League Central in 2005. Fact...they have the bullpen and lineup to do it, assuming the rotation stays healthy and Contreras and Garland can improve and pitch close to there potential, this team has staying power. Aside from my Shingo line, I was pretty on the money.

QUOTE(Felix @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 03:08 PM) I've read this twice today, but I still don't believe it. Is there anything to back up your claim? Only my eyes. I don't have any 40 times, but Harris was faster than Pods and I know I've heard a few people close to the org mention that Pablo is now the fastest player on the team.

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 02:52 PM) There's a quote from Ozzie Guillen back in his Marlin days stating that he thought Gonzalez was the best defensive shortstop he'd ever seen play the game. I don't agree with him, hell I don't agree with Ozzie on a lot of things, but take it for what its worth. Oh, your talking about that Alex Gonzalez. I'll shut up. I don't pay attention to the Red Sox and I was thinking of the one from the Cubs, who last I knew was on the Drays. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 02:46 PM) It's not cheap, but it's not overly expensive. There's a lot of other crappier players making more money than that. I was unhappy that Timo was making a million last year, but that's just part of the baseball landscape. Cintron isn't great AT ALL, but he's much more valuable than Willie Harris was. I think this post is right. Cintron isn't cheap, but I think he could start on at least a few teams. He also isn't overly expensive. Since people are making this comparison for some reason, I take Citron over Gonzalez. Gonzalez reminds me of Clayton in that he catches what is hit to him, but doesn't have impressive range. I don't think Citron has great range either though. Neither are what I'd call upper echelon defensive shortstop's. In fact mediocre is a term best used for either of them. Just my 2 cents. But as a bench player Citron is pretty solid. I like his offensive capabilities. Plus I was watching him a couple days ago and he was hitting the ball hard against the Mets (I think he was on Puerto Rico).
