  1. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 04:18 PM) Powe is an absolute stud, period. Ya, they were saying if he comes back next year, he could be up for player of the year.
  2. QUOTE(TLAK @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 04:00 PM) I'd like to add that Cintron, based on the numbers, is a much better middle infielder than either Ozuna or Mack. Mack can hang with him at 3B but Cintron is head and shoulders better in the middle. Ozuna can earn his keep with his legs and his bunting. While he can survive at just about every position, which lets you use him in a pinch role without burning two players, I don't think he would be first choice to sub a whole game at any position. I agree. I think on our bench in terms of players go...Cintron, Mack, Ozuna. Mack and Ozuna can also play the OF (Mack can even play CF) so all 3 provide versatility. With the bat I think Cintron is the best of the bunch.
  3. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 03:56 PM) No doubt, 13-0 run. The good news is the Bulls game is about to start
  4. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 03:53 PM) Baj is much more valuable than Ginter was. Noone's gonna rip on Cintron if he produces like he has in the past. If he sucks as much as Timo, well, yeah, then he'll be a goat. I don't really think so. I think both were pretty much not so valuable. We got Timo cause the Mets saved like 1 mill and we got Cintron cause the Dbacks saved like 1.6 mill. Neither Baj or Ginter would get you much at the time. Ginter would have been the more highly touted one though (higher draft pick, actually was hyped at one point during his career). Had one run of success with the Mets, but Cintron is a better player than Timo and I would agree that Baj is a better player than Ginter (but I don't know if he was more valuable in a trade sense).
  5. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 03:54 PM) Not so fast, 5 pt game. How quickly things change eh.

    10 grand

Not to mention the vast majority of the posts are quality (aside from that liberal crap)
  8. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 03:40 PM) I also love the playmakers they have on that team. As long as Bozeman is healthy when having him and Farmar out there, you got two tremendous creators. With a team that has this much talent, that's pretty scary. Good news for UCLA fans is that Bozeman is looking solid today. The route is on. 16 point lead now. They are just running away with this conference tourney.
  9. QUOTE(Felix @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 03:42 PM) Weren't they 6-10? Yea, its not far off, but in the NFL, two games is a lot. I watched quite a few Browns games (the Bar I go to is predominantly a Browns bar; probably 20-30 Browns fans there every Sunday) and they lost a ton of games that they could have and probably should have won. I wasn't watching the games too indepth, but I noticed they were one of those teams that could have picked up a few more wins than they did. Of course they beat the Bears in a game we should have won. But the Bears played conservative.
  10. QUOTE(bmags @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 02:13 PM) that Cintron will replace Timo as the whipping boy. Both were traded for in spring training for flailing AAA pitchers. By all accounts Cintron is more talented*, but i think he will be it. More like Cintwrong, amiright? *impossible not to be true. I think your way wrong. Cintron has such a pretty swing. In fact if Iguchi hickups in his 2nd year, I have zero problem with Cintron stepping in as a starter. He's been drilling the ball in the WBC too. Hit a HR for Puerto Rico (Bernie Williams also hit a big time bomb; looks to be in tremendous shape). But I was watching the Puerto Rico/Mets game about a week ago and saw Cintron hitting. The boy can hit. I don't know what kind of a fielder he is and I realize he doesn't have a great OBP, but I wouldn't be too concerned about his bat. Its a pretty swing.
  11. QUOTE(Felix @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 03:37 PM) The Browns might hover around the .500 mark next year.. The Browns weren't really that far off from being .500 this year. They are going in the right direction.
  12. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 03:37 PM) -Ravens land DE Trevor Pryce -Giants sitting good for LB Will Witherspoon, Miami is also in the picture -Brees to NO is heating up Saban is supposed to be going to meet with Brees to try and land him. Read this on a Bears site I frequent.
  13. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 03:36 PM) UCLA has absolutely everything to make a run. They're number 3 on my big board right now. With Hollins playing well now, they got a 7 footer who can play down low, they're one of the best defensive teams in the nation, and their guard play is absolutely fantastic. I love this UCLA team. Plus while the Pac 10 is down, they typically get strong play in the tourney. Washington is another team on the rise, but not near as loaded as the Bruins. Arizona just isn't clicking this year though. I love what Howland has done and UCLA has some stellar recruits coming in. They will be a dynasty in basketball once again thanks to Howland. Plus I love West Coast schools and its great that the best college basketball school ever is on the west coast (thats right UCLA; thank you John R. Wooden). I'm actually thinking UCLA has an outside shot at the final 4. They are a really talented team whose deep thanks to all the guys that were inserted into more important roles earlier in the year when the starters were dropping like flies.
  14. You know whose really playing great right now..UCLA. I realize they are beating up on the down pac 10 conference but they are playing strong defensively and the team has grown a lot and responded well to all the injuries. Plus Ben Howland is a very good head coach. The only thing is they'll need to get Bozeman back healthy. I'm putting them down as an elite 8 team.
  15. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 03:31 PM) LOL you were the first one to use the word "whitty".... It was part of my plan to make Boz say Whitty. Thats my story and I'm sticking to it.
  16. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 03:30 PM) There might be, but i'm not sure what "whitty" means I think he's calling the Hawkeyes a team full of unathletic whitey's. Its alright though...the Hair Club for Brunner is gonna get on him.
  17. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 03:28 PM) There's no such thing as a whitty Hawkeye fan. But there is such thing as a Hawkeye fan with the power of banning Unlike this siamese Sparty/IU fan
  18. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 03:26 PM) Here's a good post from Peegs pretty much summing up my thoughts on Almighty Thad, winner of multiple national titles and countless conference championships: I found it bizarre how many three's they just jacked up when they have the Big 10 player of the year inside ready to foul out Marco. I think I made the comparison. IU and OSU are very similar teams talent wise and skill wise. Each team has some really good outside shooters who feed off the big men inside (Dials and Kill). Dials has been the more effective player, but at the same time IU had some injuries and of course they failed to live up to there potential as well.
  19. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 03:24 PM) How 'bout we just split the difference and call him Haluska's b****. I love having a whitty Hawkeye fan on this site. Thanks cheat
  20. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 01:50 PM) Yeah, but Tyson's "normal nights" include altering shots left and right like a tremendously poor man's Bill Russell at the age of 23. Put a legitimate SG and a legitmate C on this team, and you'll see just how far we'll go in the long term with Tyson wreaking havoc on the offensive glass/playing legendary defense in the paint. Let's separate championship teams from pretenders: It's all about points in the paint. We may have a guy who could turn out to be THE MOST EFFECTIVE PLAYER IN THE NBA in terms of limiting Opponents FG% down low. Pair him up with a scoring C and then we'll see what's up. And yet, you continue to b**** and moan about the 2001 trade. I'm gonna have to take a s*** on those short term thoughts. Brand might have the work ethic, but he ain't got the rare quickness, height, length, wingspan, or leaping ability to have that type of effect on the defensive end. I use my eyes. No paper arguments here. Don't worry, I won't mention specifics from the "Brand is a better defender than Chandler" argument that took place on here a while back. Brand is a scoring assassin down low, and while I'd love to have him, I'll take Tyson's defensive upside and get my scoring punch elsewhere (C, SF, SG, bench). Brand is special, but he's not that special. He's listed at 6'8, but he's barely 6'7. He damn near defines "Undersized PF". Tyson is a true 7'1 with the makings of a legendary shot-altering force. And yes, being a Tyson supporter is pretty f***ing sweet right about now, ain't it? He's beginning to tap into his potential. Always remember that we're talking about a 23 year old. Brand is still a beast defensively providing really good shot blocking presence. I realized what Krause was trying to do, but there is no way I can ever say that trade will be good for us. Brand >>>> Chandler and will be in the future as well. I like Chandler, but If given the choice I'd reverse that trade.
  21. QUOTE(SuperSteve @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 03:17 PM) 4.6 40.... he's a WR. (another place has him at a 4.5 40). I think Haluska on the high side is at 4.4 (IIRC). It doesn't always show cause he's not the greatest dribble though. Trenton is a beast of an athlete though. By the way, good seeing ya around these parts again Steve
  22. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 02:57 PM) Brown busy still... Browns | Jurevicius agrees to a four-year deal Sat, 11 Mar 2006 14:49:29 -0800 Adam Schefter, of the NFL Network, reports free agent WR Joe Jurevicius (Seahawks) has agreed to a four-year deal worth about $10 million with the Cleveland Browns. Another solid WR gone. Ie a WR with experience, good hands, and the ability to run good routes.
  23. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 01:54 PM) Washington. If its true and they've traded for Brandon Lloyd, that would take them out of the picture. Pitt appears to be willing to match any contract (as long as it isn't ridiculous). I sure as hell hope someone not named Chicago offers up a ridiculous contract cause I don't want him. Now if it were an affordable contract I'd shut up, but he's gonna get way overpaid. Just ask Lions fans how great of a deal Az Hakim was. Hakim was a better player than Randle El too and just like El was a mediocre WR.
