QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 01:54 PM) Cyrus Tate will be a really good player for Iowa, other than that I don't know a lot about those guys in that class except I think the dude with the long name is Canadian. Sweet, thanks for the input. I hope you guys are right. -

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 01:45 PM) I like what I see so far. Not watching National Championship-calibur basketball, but we are seeing two teams going at it pretty hard on both ends. IU is being pretty agressive on offense even when Killingsworth is not in there. That has been a problem in the past. Been some good shouting going on too. Terrence Dials is a beast though. But when you think about it, IU and OSU are similar teams with that inside out game. Dials for OSU and Kill for IU. IU has some good outside shooters as does OSU. -
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 01:25 PM) Washington is close to landing Lloyd which would hopefully take them out of the ARE sweepstakes. Also...ARE is visiting Chicago tomorrow, Archuleta on Monday. Damn, Lloyd is another guy superior to Randle El.

OSU opens up 8-0 and IU comes storming back based on a nice substitution by Davis. -

QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 01:13 PM) Iowa has 3 players signed and another committed for next year. They have Justin Johnson, a 6'6" JuCo SG, Cyrus Tate, a 6'8" JuCo PF, Jamie Vanderbeken, a 6'10" freshmen, and Malik Perry, a 6'5" SG (freshmen). All of them are 3 stars on Rivals, and neither of the freshmen are ranked in their top 150. Thats not too bad of a class correct? Ie they aren't getting any stars, but quite a few solid palyers. Plus this is a team that could use some Juco help. -

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 12:51 PM) Fixed. Hey, you probably know more than I do about this, but how has Alford been doing with recruiting this year? Do we have any decent ones coming in. My guess is all the speculation with Alford/IU is hurting him, but at the same time our strong play and almost the rebirth of fanship has to be helping (it seems like the crowds started to get really good late this year). I know little about college recruiting, usually I just know what I watch from a year to year basis. By the way, do you think Alford has improved a lot this year? Or am I just crazy, cause he really has gotten the best out of these guys and I love how this team plays defense. I've long been a believer if you can consistently play defense you'll have a shot to win any game. -

Well Iowa moves to the finals for the 3rd time in Alford's tenure. I'm sorry, if I were an IU fan all I'd have to do is watch at how Alford's coached the Hawkeyes this year. I'd be all over hiring him. The guy lives IU basketball and would be a huge improvement at in state recruiting. Give him the pipeline IU can have access to and he'd do some really good things. Horner Haluska Hansen Brunner Henderson Everyone of these guys has consistently gotten better and thats a sign of a good coach. Even Tony Freeman has consistently improved throughout his freshman season. God I hope Iowa can somehow keep Alford. He's shown me he's gotten past his mistakes (ie Pierce). Its just tough to recruit at Iowa, especially with ISU whipping us in recruiting. -

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 12:44 PM) I was referring more to the game that's up next, not tomorrow's game. I doubt tomorrow's game would really affect seeding that much anyway. I realize that. I just have to say I think Iowa, Ill, and OSU are capable of beating almost any team in the country. I don't think we could handle Nova or Uconn. Texas gave us some trouble early in the year, but at the same time we were in that game for a large chunk of it. God I'm getting my hopes up for a horrid collapse. -

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 12:42 PM) That's why it's over, you guys (at least based on what games I've seen) are good at the line late in games. 3 pos. game with 22 seconds left, now it's for sure over. We are a good shooting free throw team. But there were a couple games recently that we held onto, but gave the other team life based on poor free throw shooting. Horner had been in a mini slump at the line. -

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 12:40 PM) OSU should have better legs than MSU had, that's for sure. If Iowa gets in the finals I could care less. A win would be cool, but I just want them entering the real tourney healthy. And if we meet OSU in the tourney, I know the Hawks are capable of beating them. We took them out once this year (although we beat everyone at home). -

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 12:39 PM) Congrats to Iowa, however I will take whoever wins game 2 to take the trophy tomorrow, and I think it might just be Indiana. It ain't over yet. We got to make our free throws. -

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 12:37 PM) This game and the fact that both teams are tired is just another reason why there shouldn't be a conference tournament. How much better would the big ten be if everyone played the extra 4 games and had a balanced schedule? I know, i know, it's all about money. I agree. Although I just think they should do the conference tourney a day or two earlier. -

These announcers are ridiculous. They just said Trannon could stay with Haluska. Haluska is a freaking sprinter. He isn't the greatest dribble and Trannon is a great athlete (I think he's also a TE on MSU's football team) but in a speed race he has no shot with Haluska. Ager just hit a huge 3 to cut it back to 5. -

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 12:34 PM) MSU is tired. They HAVE to be. IF they squeak this one out today, they'll lose tomorrow. Meant to say I won't say they aren't tired. My bad. But I agree, its hard as heck for them to win out considering they had the extra game. They still have a golden shot in today's game. Iowa has let a few get away from them that they should have won earlier in the year. -

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 12:32 PM) Brutal, Brunner travels and a foul is called on MSU. Iowa up 6, MSU ball, 1:47 left. He got hacked and than walked. He had the board and got drilled and it knocked him off balance. -

QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 12:30 PM) Actually its more really crappy basketball than defense. Both teams are extremely tired and are very short on every shot. I've only watched the 2nd half, but all I've seen is tremendous defense. I won't say teams are tired, but MSU is not getting open shots. At the same time they are playing pretty good defense too. Right now it would be the lowest % MSU would have shot in the last 10 years. -

QUOTE(THEWOOD @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 11:49 AM) Anyone watching this game? Its soo boring. DEFENSE Close game with a few minutes left. I sure hope the Hawks can hang on, but man are they playing some D. -
QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 10:39 AM) Its unfortunate if Angelo ends up overpaying him, but the guy fills a few glaring holes that the bears have in a #2(even though you think he is no better than a #3, on the Bears he instantly is better than anyone except Muhammed) WR and punt/kick returner. And then the whole "Im from Chicago" thing isnt helping either. I hope Angelo doesnt overpay, but it looks very possible at this point. What makes people assume he'll be the kick returner. He's never been much of a KR in the pro's. So were paying millions to bring in a PR when Drummond is available and he's a better KR and PR than Randle El. And for teh amount Randle El gets you could probably bring in Drummond, Givens (a superior WR), and part of Archuletta's contract.
-
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 10:08 AM) He can expect it, but if he gets it some GM is smoking crack. He's gonna get way more than he's worth. He's a mediocre 3rd receiver (AT BEST) who can return punts (NOT KICKS). Why in god sakes should a team pay him all this money. Givens is superior and will get far less money. People are really over-rating Randle El.
-
This guy is expecting Reggie Wayne money. The Bears signing him would be a HUGE mistake.

This would be an outstanding pickup. -
As far as workouts and practices. I think the stadium opens up 2 hr's before (maybe its 1hr 30 minutes). However if you get there early you can go over to the minor league parks (you'll see a bunch of parks) and you can almost stand next to the minor leaguers as they do drills, bp or whatever they are scheduled to do. In terms of directions, IIRC its off of Kino Expressway or Parkway. But you'll see signs on the freeway and when you see the signs just realize Kino Sports Complex is where they will play.

QUOTE(RME JICO @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 05:19 AM) Except for the one that has struck out 7 batters in 6 innings. Other than the last outing he has been pretty decent. If he can rebound from the bad outing and throw a couple of decent innings, he will probably win the job. In reality, how many innings is the 2nd Lefty going to see in the regular season? maybe 40? Last year Cotts pitched 60 and Marte pitched 45. Marte had an ERA of 3.77, WHIP of 1.72, K Ratio of 1.6. Lopez should be able to do at least that good. What makes you guys think Lopez can even approach an ERA in the 3's. This guy has been HORRID in the majors (over a long course of action). See the stats I just posted. You don't suck that bad over a course of 3 years by accident.
