Hogs Roster on Warthogs.com
QUOTE(JimH @ Apr 3, 2006 -> 12:22 PM) Quickman is gonna make a scouting trip down there to see his buddy Wes Whisler. He's ranked pretty low on our top 25 list that should be finished by the end of the week. We've had a few bad picks as of late, but picks like Liotta and Ricky Brooks amongst others make up for it. Plus its nice that Brian Anderson may actually be the first 1st round pick we've had in forever that actually suceeds.

McCarthy in Sox' '07 plans
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 3, 2006 -> 11:38 AM) And I would agree. I'd 3rd that.

McCarthy in Sox' '07 plans
QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Apr 3, 2006 -> 11:34 AM) I'll take the innings argument, but he also only feasts off bad teams or low pressure situations. He almost always craps on himself in big games or against good teams. He's consistently good against bad teams, and he'll give us innings, but the other guys will do so as well. So what do you make of him always being one of our very best agains the Twins or the solid ERA he put up in the postseason?

McCarthy in Sox' '07 plans
QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Apr 3, 2006 -> 11:29 AM) I could care less about faces of the team. I like Buehrle and all as a person, but to me he's the weakest guy of the staff though no one will ever admit that. He isn't good against good hitting ballclubs and basically feasts off low pressure/bad team games. And KW is trying to make the World Series trophy the face of the team, not a player. Throws more innings, wins pretty much more games. Basically our most consistent starter.

Law Of Averages 3
QUOTE(The Critic @ Apr 2, 2006 -> 05:40 AM) I dunno. I never signed up at Blackhawkzone for whatever reason. I'm thinking about talkbhawks, but I just don't talk as "in-depth" about the Hawks as I used to. For example, I don't know s*** about their minor-leaguers or potential draft targets. So I don't know how much I'd add to the site. ....that doesn't stop me from posting here, though.... I guarantee one thing...you could add a lot more than I do. I just ask questions, I know nothing about the sport of hockey.

Soxtalk On the Air: April 3rd's Show
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 3, 2006 -> 10:19 AM) This was a good one. The time span of the show was perfect. And you nailed a lot of my opinions of the season starting; it's definitely good to end a lot of the doubts with the games counting for real. And let us know when that autobiography comes out. I just got to find someone whose willing to read it back to me

McCarthy in Sox' '07 plans
QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Apr 3, 2006 -> 09:01 AM) Is McCarthy throwing a screwball? During the game last night, there were 3-4 times where he threw an offspeed pitch (about 77 MPH on ESPN's gun) that had 2-seam break on them. Is this a variation of his change, or is he actually throwing a screwball? Thats his change. He also has a pretty good hook that he dropped in a few times.

McCarthy in Sox' '07 plans
If Vazquez can figure things out and pitch like he did in Montreal, than my preference is dealing Garcia. However we aren't going to do anything until this offseason, imo.

Thornton last night.
QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 3, 2006 -> 09:50 AM) According to statistics based on balls put in play, Politte was the luckiest pitcher in baseball last season. His fastball was down a couple of mph, and didn't seem to have a lot of zip. It's still early though, so hopefully his arm strength will build up. McCarthy looked great last night though, which was good to see. Also, Thornton's never going to have pinpoint control. If he can throw strikes, he'll be a useful reliever. The nice thing about Thornton is his arm. You can see why the Sox were willing to take a chance on him and Coop seems to have done a good job getting guys to throw strikes. His slider doesn't look great, but it looks solid enough to keep hitters off balance. McCarthy really looked good. He snapped a few nice curve's and as he develops I expect that to become a plus pitch along with his changeup and those two pitches will help make that fastball (mixed w/his good command) and good to very good pitch. Brandon's command wasn't at his finest, but he still looked sharp.

Films
QUOTE(TaylorStSox @ Apr 2, 2006 -> 03:01 PM) V For Vendetta was okay. I'd give it 2 stars. Portman was just absolutely horrible. I couldn't help but laugh at her accent. The film was well made. I just felt it was trite and cliched throughout. I was really looking forward to it too. I spent a couple days this week watching a trilogy from a Korean filmmaker named Chan-Wook Park. They're titled Sympathy For Mr. Vengeance, Oldboy, and Sympathy For Lady Vengeance. They're your typical Asian shock thriller type of movies, so they're not for everyone. Actually, if you're easily offended, I wouldn't even bother. Anyway, Oldboy was excellent. Everyone should check it out. If you're into Asian cinema like Battle Royale, Tetsuo, or Ichi The Killer I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Oldboy is easily the best of the bunch. Unfortunately, they're remaking it for an American audience. It's a f***ed up movie so I'm not sure how much they'll change. Oldboy I have a kind of weird taste in movies though. Right now, my top 10 (though it always changes) is... 1) Solaris (original) 2) Stalker 3) City of God 4) Man Bites Dog 5) Irreversible 6) Kids 7) Bladerunner 8) Star Wars 9) The Usual Suspects 10) The Royal Tenebaums (actually, anything Wes Anderson) Old Boy is a fantastic movie.

CORE OF THE CORE - 4/17 Update
QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Apr 3, 2006 -> 09:35 AM) I've already bought my ticket. What is included for the price, BTW? Besides the patio party. Food? And our seats? Anybody know where they are? The patio party includes food and drinks before the game and something like an hr into the game (IIRC).

Thornton last night.
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 3, 2006 -> 09:03 AM) In a big game situation, Thornton might be brought out like he was last night, but just to face Hafner. He K'd Hafner with a pretty good sequence(from what I could tell in my seat) but them came back out for the next inning. Im not sure how much that is going to happen. On a related note, Cliff did not look good at all last night. His velocity was way down and he got hit hard. Its something we brought up on the show today. By far the least impressive of everyone that played last night.

Rosenthal Notes
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Apr 3, 2006 -> 01:20 AM) This scout obviously paid no attention to Brian the last 2-3 weeks of spring training. Seriously...I was worried about him early on and since than I've felt a lot more comfortable about him.

TV?
ESPN is so lame. Instead of me getting the game on ESPN HD they have womens basketball final 4 on the main station and since I don't have ESPN HD 2 (and most cable providers don't have that) I'm stuck having to not get that game in High Def. Its pretty simple ESPN. Baseball >>>> ratings than womens basketball. SO why are you so stupid that you put the baseball game on ESPN 2 instead of your main station (especially since it hoses anyone that has cable and wants to watch the game in high def).

86% of Cailifornia without earthquake insurance
The problem with earthquake insurance is most of its a total scam. People figured that out the last few earthquakes. People used to have earthquake insurance and than when homes were destroyed it never paid out like expected and there were all these news stories out here about how bad it was and insurance companies started to incredibly rip people off. Its pretty pathetic too, considering homes probably should have that type of coverage.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 1, 2006 -> 09:31 PM) Ya, hopefully he can find a home. That f***in lady deserves to have her head chopped off, I f***in hate people like that. Nothing gets me more than when people treat pets like garbage. I so hope someone can adopt Scotty.
