  1. QUOTE(OilCan @ Mar 14, 2006 -> 09:45 PM) Boone Logan, your table is ready. Its amazing. He makes one change to his arm angle and has a shot of going from pretty much rookie ball (where he wasn't anything special) to the majors. I think that says just how bad our pen situation really is (at least the back of the pen).
  2. The Bullpen Quandry Revisited By Joseph Slowik One of the major concerns on this White Sox squad entering Spring Training was the state of the bullpen. After the team jettisoned Luis Vizcaino and Damaso Marte, depth became an issue for a team with expectations of a World Series repeat. Now the situation is even worse with the return of Dustin Hermanson’s back pain, which places his potential contributions to the club this season in serious doubt.MORE
  3. Team USA was at my school (Fullerton) taking practice. Most of the area was blocked off, but they hit some bombs. Watched for maybe 10 minutes and than as I left campus on my way to my car (which is next to the baseball fields), Derrek Lee drove past in his Escalade. On Monday the Japanese Team was practicing and Ichiro was chilling out on the walk way. Its kind of cool. Makes me a little more into this WBC thing. USA better step it up on Thursday.
  4. QUOTE(SnB @ Mar 14, 2006 -> 08:20 PM) so i definitely completely forgot about this. I just listened to your first show, keep it up kids. PS: i still want a webcam for jason. When I make a prediction in the 2nd show, I make reference to being one of Soxtalk's Magic 8 Balls
  5. We'll have a really good idea in about 2 weeks, but its going to be tough to tell, especially with the Sox signing quite a few veterans for Charlotte (in order to make them more competitive). You should see Ray Liotta, Broadway and eventually Tyler Lumsden (our 3 best starting pitching prospects) there for a considerable part of the season. Liotta will definately start in AA while Broadway and Lummy will probably get some time in WS. In Lummy's case he's going to have to show he's healthy, if he is he has as much upside as any pitcher in our org (not that it says a lot). Valido and Schnurstein will also be there and I think Barons fans will like both of them.
  6. Actually I big10talk was on my mind for a while (I always start with leagues/teams I like, makes it more fun for me). I like college sports and I have some ideas in my mind. The next release of sites will probably occur around May, but that all depends on how the new sites do.
  7. QUOTE(Felix @ Mar 14, 2006 -> 03:53 AM) I don't really see how Joe Borchard is not hot, but Ross Gload is hot. Borchard is hitting .227/.292/.545 with 2 HR and 5 RBI, while Gload is hitting .250/.318/.500 with 1 HR and 4 RBI. Not much of a difference there.. Nice article nonetheless. This was wrtitten on Sunday and at that point Gload was hitting .333 IIRC and Borch was in the .100. It just goes to show you how quickly stats change.
  8. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 10:41 PM) You're a Southern Cal kid, how good is UCLA? Very Good. I'm really thinking of having them in the final 4. Everyone here (aside from rowand) slams the west coast schools, but they'll be the ones impressed when they see UCLA go deep into the tourney. I know I wouldn't want to play them. They are peaking at just the right time and have quite a few different options and have improved there depth thanks to mid-season injuries that forced other guys to step up there roles.
  9. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 09:13 PM) I got SDSU taking down the Zags. I don't think Xavier has enough weapons without those two guys. The Aztecs are pretty good. Either way I have IU or SDSU going down to Gonzaga.
  10. According to my bracket: Aggies over Cuse NC State over Cal Bama over Marquette Michigan State over NC (in the 2nd rd) Washington over Ill (in the 2nd rd) Seton Hall over Witchita State Nevada over BC (in the 2nd rd) Wisc Mil over Oklahoma Northern Iowa over Gtown Some of these picks may change.
  11. Right now my final 4: Texas Memphis (Thinking real hard about UCLA being there though) Uconn Nova Texas vs Uconn in the finals Uconn winning it all If its not Texas in the final 4, my pick is Iowa being there and not Duke.
  12. QUOTE(rangercal @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 09:08 PM) f*** espn. This is so stupid. Instead we have to watch linda kohn and her big f***ing horse teeth. Its totally lame. They should have just continued coverage or made this game at 7:30 (pacific time) and than there wouldn't have been any layover. Afterall if they have a doubleheader in basketball usually one game overlaps another by a little bit. MLB should do something about this. Maybe they can create there own channel (like the NFL and NBA have) and broadcast the US games live there next year.
  13. QUOTE(WCSox @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 08:51 PM) He's the Iowa hater
  14. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 07:23 AM) A&M and Kent are the 12's to watch......A&M is talented and playing very well, and the Golden Flashes (who you will remember as the team that destroyed your bracket going to the elite 8 in 2002 with Antonio Gates) are a veteran team with the offensive firepower to score 60 points plus on Pittsburgh, and lord knows that's the kind of game Pittsburgh isn't a fan of. Utah State and Montana will both get blown out IMO. Utah State is better than you think. They are a very solid mid-major.
  15. DJ White will not be the best big man in the big 10 next year. Gregory Oden.
  16. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 08:38 PM) Why not just start showing it in the 3rd inning, after the other game? I don't see whats so bad about that. Then show it in it's entirety later. They are showing some live look ins on SC though. Vernon Wells just K'd with the bases loaded. With that said, anyone know if Comcast Users get Deportes? I know where I am Cox users are getting a free month of Deportes so we can watch the games. May be the same with comcast. In fact it probably is.
  17. Cuba and Korea are the two teams that impress me the least. Mexico is pretty close. The rest of the bracket is pretty solid.
  18. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 08:25 PM) DEPORTES.... It will be tape delayed on ESPN2 at 11PM your time... 1AM here.... I think. Why is ESPN lame enough to make the USA game on tape delayed. I'd watch it on deportes but I think there homerun call gets old. Especially when there isn't any decent programming on right now anyway.
  19. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 06:46 PM) Bold prediction that will make everyone nuts, myself included: Cintron will be the sox starting SS by the end of the season. I actually think he'll be the starting 2nd baseman when the season ends. I'm really high on this guy. And I may be high for saying this.
  20. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 07:57 PM) His glove is below average... D'Backs fans wanted rid of him, and they've seen plenty of Royce the Choice™ down there. Its funny though, from watching the baseball classic you'd think he was pretty solid defensively. I know that hasn't been the case, but the WBC games have been about the most I've seen of Cintron and count me as impressed (albeit in it a limited sample size). Very nice swing and if he fields like he has in the tourney, thats just a plus. He doesn't have much range though for a SS, which is why I think he gets knocked defensively.
  21. What channel is this game on? I just got done watching the Puerto Rico game.
  22. QUOTE(iWiN4PreP @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 04:31 PM) Not a bad radio edition. Obviously their wasnt much to talk about on it, but the radio people did Very well. This can only get better . thanks. I don't think I stopped laughing much of the 2nd half. During the break we were cracking quite a few jokes and I caught a case of the laughs. We still have some more adjustments to make, but personally I thought this one was a bit better than the first. As always we are open to any comments or critisism's. They'll only help make us better.
  23. Definately a different opinion from mine, but its nice to have two sides. Everything I write on the main page goes with my belief that Borch is the better fit. OH, FourofaKind was the person that wrote it. He's going to be doing a weekly Who's Hot, Who's Not during the season. The stats are actually a day old because I'm really busy with school and didn't get a chance to update them. That said the way Borch is hitting this spring, he's really digging himself into a hole.
  24. Who's Hot or Not: Spring Training Edition By Tyler James Soxtalk.com It is now time for the debut of the weekly Who’s Hot? Who’s Not?. This week is a special Spring Training Edition. Here is a list of players hot and cold as Spring Training starts separating the boys from the men...MORE
  25. QUOTE(hi8is @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 02:48 PM) whats the deal with podcasts compared to the other format? streaming vs. downloadable? When we get podcasts up, you will be able to autodownload them into your itunes. With the mp3 format right now its only streaming. So ya what you said
