2021 NFL Season Thread
Cutler on McAfee show a few days ago was hillarious. I miss Jay on the Bears - so sad they didn't put the right parts around him early in his career. Dude was just so physically talented. Also - if people haven't seen it - watch Kurt Warner dissect Fields preseason play. Its a really good watch...maybe not super entertaining as Warner is dry...but his QB analysis is fantastic (way better than all those random youtubers who circle stuff up and really don't know what they are talking about). Warner goes next level and in general - I think any Bear fan will come away pretty impressed...but as Warner points out, there is clearly work to do. Let the oline gel under Dalton - than shift to Fields in the middle of the year (unless they are somehow rolling).

I don’t have cbs sports so was on the Spanish broadcast. I thought it was the poor steaming quality - who knew it was actually the camera quality.

Yeah - Millsap was the better fit for sure. I think Vanderbilt from wolves wouldn’t be a horrible choice as a runner up. More upside but obviously more risk. I do think good shot Aldridge ends up on roster if he does play.

2020 Workout Thread
Just basic - push-ups and sit-ups. I hate lifting weights - so that should tell you I do not have a muscular build haha. That said - did six cardio workouts last week - 3 runs and 3 bike rides. This week I’ve ran three times so far and a bike ride, with one day off. Feeling good. First week I was running about 10 min miles on avg but with reverse splits (so slow as shit - to slow to somewhat slow). This week I have 10 miles of running in - dropped my avg mile down a full minute (so all runs this week we’re sub 9 minute miles). Yesterday was my fastest overall mile which I did on final mile - just under 8:30 and i finished it with a sub 8 minute half mile. Have continued to eat very well. Down 7 lbs in last 2 weeks.

Horrible looking performance so far vs. a lousy El Salvador team.

I had no issue with your comment -> more pointing out / reiterating the prosecution perspective. I agree with pretty much everything you have ever said on COVID.

COVID Thread Part Deux
Lets be clear in this example - person thought they had allergies...instead had COVID. Someone can say they still shoudln't have or whatever...but this wasn't someone who woke up, tested positive for COVID, or who was feeling terrible who walked into a school. The point is - masks matter, etc...but I'm not about to be ushering said teacher to prison....come on.

COVID Thread Part Deux
Unfortunately -> you are right, we made matters worse as a country, however, globally this would have always ended up this way...when you consider the more rural, less affluent countries, etc...you would always have variations like Delta that pop up and expose. But yes...the curve could have been reduced...the impacts smaller, etc...but I think the reality of wiping this off the face of the earth was always extremely difficult when you think more globally -> that said, it still amazes me how many people fight this. I should point out - I think all teachers should be vaccinated anyway - this is fully approved at this point - so rules should apply similar to measles and other items.

COVID Thread Part Deux
Big difference between your comment here and what was being implied. But yes - clearly we should have done more of that -> more people aware, more you can prevent. And as bad as Delta is -> things are still significantly better today than they were a year ago. All of these Delta spikes are with EVERYTHING open...yes people wear masks, etc, but we have all schools open, sporting events, etc. The way of life is much closer to normal today than it was a year ago. Is the risk the same as pre-covid....no not yet - but we are still trending in a good direction, despite this bump and if anything this bump combined with FDA approval seem to be getting a lot of people who previously weren't vaccinated...vaccinated...which is a massive plus. 14M got vaccinated in August for 1st time -> up 4M from July. If I assume that the population eligible for a vaccine is 300M (not sure how close that is - but I presume that is +/- 20M)...all of August vaccines would increase the partially vaccinated population by 5% in one month -> or entire US population rate would have increased by ~4% (assuming 365M pop). 2 or 3 more months of that + people getting boosters to strengthen immunity and it could put things in a pretty good spot heading into what normally would be a tough time with fall/winter coming. Or at least that is my optimstic hope..... Note: None of my analysis factors in that 4M individuals contracted COVID during August - which means for those that recovered, that is 4M more who at the very least have some level of increased immunity as well (not saying that is the way I'd want to get my immunity - but statistically it still counts as a partial immunity too).

For what - spend all that money on the exceptions. How is anyone going to prove that they were aware of the symptoms at the time, etc, especially since many are asymptomatic to begin with. Are you really going to fault someone who shows up in a store, doesn't know they are sick, doesn't wear a mask (because in that jurisidiction it is there right not to)....I mean come on now. That is getting to the point of extreme. Reality is - at some point we are going to have to live with this - likely after the rest of the population has access to a good and safe vaccine (i.e., children who are not yet eligible) and at that point -> boosters should get improved and we are going to have to deal with this.

COVID Thread Part Deux
On your medical profession - I tried to point out the fact that these same individuals were NOT worried about their kids a year ago and it wasn't until Delta that they stressed. I would actually have put myself in the same area - and my kids were back in person as soon as it was allowed for many reasons which are my own personal owns, but it was important that the school would follow recommended protocols, etc. If I am required to wear a mask as an unvaccinated individual (which my kids are -> I am vaccinated) in a store -> same should apply to a classroom. So no, I don't think in this regard schools should be allowed to be laissez fair, because It more detrimentally impacts the many vs. the few. Majority are comfortable and approve of masks in schools -> that view should not be tainted by the view of a minority when it comes to a matter of public health. This is coming from someone who is pretty open to go places, etc -> my risks, but also I will be lining up to get my kids vax whenever eligible.

What if I told you that this new variant, Delta, is far more susceptible to children and the numbers of the past year, to at least some extent benefited from children masking up in school and the fact that for most of that past year, there were material lockdowns and many kids not actually at in-person school. I don't know what the #'s would be if protocol wasn't followed...but i know my kids, who are too young to be vaxxed, have no problem wearing a mask and it isn't some major inconvenience. I have 2 good friends that are ER doctors - last year, they weren't very worried at all with their kids (under vax age) and COVID - the past 6 weeks - they have been hyper alert and concerned due to what they are seeing in young patients coming into and more broad data around how Delta impacts kids.

In Defense of Leury
This - so many people complain but the dude is such an asset off the bench. Just so versatile and he is solid - despite what most on here think. And I can’t blame him for getting too much play due to injuries and other factors.

Roster Moves Galore! TA to IL. Foster, Hamilton, Sheets, Romy up. Lamb DFA
Cut it out. I'll make that as clear as can be. Comments have been made that were not needed in a response back and than put an avatar up that is directed at said individual. NOT Allowed. And your posts were edited and back available - personal insult removed. If you want to post here - stick to the facts at hand. We ask others to do the same - when it doesn't happen - stuff gets hid until it is cleaned up....personal bickering is not needed. Mods also have had posts hidden and edited in recent months too - so this isn't a double standard - but i'm never going to claim perfection. Everyone here is a volunteer and this is a place people come to enjoy talking about the Sox or comiserating with other fans when things aren't going well. Leave the petty stuff at the door and enjoy the club and if you don't get along with someone - just stay away from them and vice versa.

Not sure how they are adding 2 wideouts...but obviously one is a special team player.

Trevathan, who I liked a lot as a player when he was healthy, but was a disasterous extension a year ago (vs. Kwit or the other guy whose name escapes me that left) - is evidently going to go on IR to start the season. Bears are signing Perriman, who isn't great, but did put up 500 yards or so receiving last year. He was cut by the Lions.

I get worried when Nagy says that because this is year 4 his offense is finally going to get quick - cause it's s complex. I mean - I get it, it's Coach speak, but if he seriously thinks that he is delusional. And if that is his offense by design, it will never work, no one is going to get 4 years until there offense "works" let alone the amount of roster turnover that exists. I still believe his biggest weakness is he out thinks himself and tries to make things more complex than they should be and it just ruins the playbook etc.

This - plus just watch Jones out there. He was very quick in his read and react. It will be interesting to see him go against 1st stringers and how much that changes, but his strengths from college certainly showed through in the NFL. Quite frankly - he's the most NFL ready QB of the group and it was very evident watching preseason. That said - starters and real game schemes could exploit some of his weaknesses, but he did not look like a rookie in the pocket, where as I would say Lawrence, Fields, and Lance all did for sure. I didnt' see much of Wilson but know he got rave reviews.

That matched what my eyes saw. I do presume they will work on getting him on practice squad.

Or I guess it is Adams and Newsome as the 5 and 6. Adams clearly earned his spot on the team, while Newsome missed most of camp - so I thought he might be a practice squad stash kind of player. I also didn't really notice much out of him in preseason, unless he made some plays in the 2nd half of the 3rd practice game (which I will admit - I did not watch that half).

Bears dropped Thomas Graham (6th round pick), Pierce (RB), Nall (RB), Johnson (K - rookie who looked pretty good), Ridley, and Johnson. I imagine we see a new wideout added given the moves Bears have made at wideout at this point (seems they are 1 light) and still expect DB and Oline as potential additions over next few days.

I am crossing my fingers Bears can find a vet olineman and maybe a vet corner via cut down day and ideally deal Nick Foles - but apparently he is preventing, really hurting his trade market.

2021 NFL Season Thread
I will say one thing - preseason doesn't mean anything, but there was nothing that happened in preseason which would lead me to believe that this is not a historically great QB crop coming into the league this year. Across every 1st round pick - you could see tons of flashes. I'd probably argue Wilson/Jones had the best preseason games, but we all know what Fields has shown and athletically - he has something else about him. I'd almost argue Lawrence (up until the 3rd game) was the most pedestrian. Long story short - should be a pretty interesting season - seeing the new kids develop, how Allen steps up after his monster year, can Brady maintain, Rodgers last hurrah, Mahomes looking for revenge....what happens with Watson, etc.
