  1. Pinned this post Yas. Now that its up on WSC, I'll get it up on FutureSox.
  2. I'd take Colon because we have a very very strong crop of outfielders. Plus I think you can sign guys like Gonzalez, EVerett, etc to very affordable contracts and get not near the production of Maggs, but quality production. However, I'm not saying I'd go that way. I'd try to get some other less important contracts off the books, for example, paying any first baseman that isn't the best in the game or one of the 3 best 8 million a year. First base is a position that you can easily find production and therefor when you have a limited budget, I don't believe it is wise to spend so much money their. 14 mill for a stud RF thats just in the beginning of his prime...ya, I'd do it, as long as they made the necessary shifts. Of course the Sox would also have to step up their payroll a bit.
  3. I'm gonna take the 5th for the time being, but I think Young will prove me and Mn right
  4. Ya, the gun yesterday was pretty bad. I didn't know what to think. I know late last season when Adkins was up he was throwing about 96.
  5. Well Politte throws some gas and Marte was throwing gas yesterday. Adkins throws hard too. The pen has some hard throwers. No one that throws 100, but not many teams do.
  6. I got a feeling they will be calling a press conference tomorrow or Tuesday to announce the signing of their superstar. It will coincide with the longest home stand which starts off with the almighty Yankees. Not only is it great PR, but its a great way to boost attendance. Plus the sides are so close that you'd think it could get done very quickly.
  7. He is, but I think they want to let Gonzalez still get shortstop time in because defensively he's pretty damn good. He has an amazing arm and solid range. Valido is good and projects to be pretty good (He makes his fair share of errors now though) but I just think they want to get both of them playing time their. Personally I want to see more Antoin Gray and Valido.
  8. I caught that line. That ball wasn't hit hard at all. It was well short on a day that the wind is blowing out bigtime. Chip is awful..and its even worse since he's sick today.
  9. Gonzalez had a nice game. Haigwood a rough one, but I'm just glad he's pitching again. Rauch was rolling with 4 shutout innings and then hit his funk in the 5th and 6th. Borchard is struggling.
  10. All I know is every time I look a different team is leading.
  11. I'll say they bring up Wunsch, although they probably won't add another pitcher. I still don't see the big deal in this. Frank will be fine and if he has to miss a few games fine, I got full confidence in Gload.
  12. Give Billy Beane 12 mill at the deadline and look out. Then again, I think I'd say the same for Kenny if he had that.
  13. The problem is, no one was going to take Konerko or anyone else the Sox have for that matter and not make us take salary on in return. While I was fine with the Perez for Konerko rumors and thought that Perez would be awesome this year (so far looking right, but its 3 starts, so I don't relaly care) but I also like Konerko and have no problem keeping him, even though he's about 3 mill a year overpaid.
  14. Well Kenny's approach last season was buy then, although he wasn't willing to add payroll. If you are willing to add the payroll, you don't have to give up much anything prospect wise.
  15. I'm awful, but this summer I'm going to start playing again.
  16. I thought the same thing yesterday. Its like they are setting the Sox up for attendance failure or at least helping. Have the long homestand later in the year with warm weather.
  17. That was freaking hillarious. I love DJ's quotes
  18. Don't ask me what the heck the guys name was, but they said Osborne isn't going to start since he pitched 3 innings yesterday. The person pitching will make his major league debut.
  19. Hey, I like DJ. He's no Whimpy, but I like him anyway. He can say some funny stuff. Just think, we could of had Joe Carter instead :puke
  20. Only sport I do thats expensive is snowboarding. So when it comes to me, I'd rather go to the mountains then go paintballing. s***, water wars were the best though. We'd go crazy on my block when I was a kid. We had allies and s***, and built forts...it was CRAZY.
  21. YES. I think what I'd like to see is Olivo in the 2 hole, but yes, Reed is going to be a sweet 2 hole hitter. He's so Erstad like to me...but hopefully healthier.
  22. Ya, when teams can pick up salary you can get guys. However, I don't think Roy is going anywhere. And if he is, I don't even want to think of what it will cost whatever team. He has a pretty affordable contract if I recall. I wouldn't want Randy Johnson, I really believe he is done and his contract is awful.
  23. This probably isn't the thread but during the break I turned the Cubs game on and Jimenez is up and he's got like a .450 OBP. I love his swing.
  24. Going opposite field is pretty easy for good hitters. The key is for them to recognize the pitch coming and to know what to do with it. Its just human nature that they can greedy because they have the ability to belt the hell out of the ball. Overall I think Sox hitters have done a good job of it this year. Konerko when right does as good a job as anyone at it and Carlos and Maggs are usually pretty good at it. Frank is pretty much a pull hitter these days and Willie is a pull hitter, but when he's hitting the ball he goes more up the middle and even towards short and 3rd. And Olivo is solid at it. If Olivo hits .270 this year with some pop and RBI's it would be awesoem and a huge improvement. I already think that harris can finish the season with a .340 plus OBP...yep you heard it here first.
