Sox sign ex-Tigers player to minor league deal:
Charlotte must have another move coming, maybe Wunsch is about to be dealt, because Nicholson replaced Rivera who was claimed when the Sox tried to remove him from the 40 man roster.

Oakland A's Claim Michael Rivera
Oakland A's Claim Michael Rivera By Jason Gage April 23, 2004 FutureSox.com The Oakland A's claimed Michael Rivera on waivers on Friday. Rivera joined the Sox in June of 2003, after they claimed him from the Padres. With the Knights, he hit .310 with 12 HR, and 52 RBI. Rivera, 27, was designated for assignment by the A's. Rivera was made available when the Sox dropped him from the 40 man roster. With Rivera leaving Charlotte, the Knights called up infielder Tommy Nicholson from Winston Salem. Ryan Hankins will likely replace Rivera at first base.

Happy Birthday Jason!
It was a blast. Had a ton to drink all day. Actually, feel pretty good today considering. Didn't go to school though, woke up and was like screw this and went back to sleep. Drank lots of water to make sure I didn't have a hangover when I woke up...and it worked perfectly

Andy Gonzalez Promoted to Winston Salem
Andy Gonzalez Promoted to Winston Salem By Jason Gage April 23, 2004 FutureSox.com Shortstop prospect Andy Gonzalez was promoted to Winston Salem earlier today to replace Tommy Nicholson's roster spot. Nicholson was promoted to Charlotte earlier in the day. Gonzalez was once the best shortstop prospect in the organization, but has lost that status by with the emergence of Robert Valido. Gonzalez was having a strong season in Kannapolis batting .271 with 1 HR, and 3 RBI. Nicholson played 19 games with the Knights and hit .140. Nicholson was hitting .176 for the Warthogs. The Skinny: Gonzalez will likely be the starting shortstop in Winston Salem. His arrival will probably push current starter, Pedro Lopez, back to his normal position second base. This move will also make Robert Valido the full time shortstop in Kannapolis. Valido has been platooning with Gonzalez at shortstop and second base. Antoin Gray will become the starting second baseman.

Scott Schoeneweis: You sir, are good:
He threw a change on I think Sheffield and got sheffield way out in front of it. By the way, thanks wite...and you defended me Still, I'm not going to say I was right, at least not yet. Scho has pitched good, but 3 starts don't make a season or a career. He has good stuff though and the fact that he's pitching inside a lot is huge. He also is doing a really good job of throwing his slider in-in on righties and its really tying them up. He's still having some control issues, but he's mixing speeds pretty well, although I'd still like to see more sliders. I think the pitch your referring to cheat (the 85-88) was at times his slider and at other times his cutter. He used both quite consistently.

Gload
I'm probably one of Gload's biggest fans. I love his short, quick swing and the fact that he can spray the ball to all parts of the field and has power to all parts of the field. However, before we talk about him replacing Konerko or Thomas, lets just give him consistent at bats off the bench (While Frank is hurt is a start), but slide him in left on occassion, let him pinch hit, let him play against tough righties for Konerko at times. Then if he's still really raking the ball (I think its a possibility) the Sox can decide this offseason whether he can handle the job. Defensively the guy is smooth on first. He's also a very good baserunner and has good speed for a second baseman. I'm pulling bigtime for Gloadie.

Barry Rozner article in the Daily Herald
As much of a name Veeck is, would it be a good hire? He's going to definately be agressive and energetic and I think thats what you need from a president. You want that type of confidence stewing from your employees. Actually I think this article is pretty dead on. The Sox organization gives you kind of a cold feeling. They are starting to change it, but the attitude just isn't that firey, lets have fun and play baseball. Ozzie has it, KW is about as firey as it gets (I really like KW's attitude), but then you have the rest of it and it just doesn't respond that way. Still, I'd rather take the Cubs guy then Veeck.

Politte.....
So far its looking good. He's been pitching the heck out of the ball. I think the big reason they are doing it is because they want Munoz to harness his other pitches and if he's in the pen he's going to be curve ball reliant and the other pitches won't develop as much. I still think his future is in the pen, but the Sox are wanting him to develop other stuff, so he can be a more dominant reliever.

Game Thread-Wed 4/21 vs Yanks
Maggs hasn't been able to pick up Vazquez. He's basically up their guessing.

Plus I like his strike call

Game Thread-Wed 4/21 vs Yanks
Sox have done alright, but the past two innings Vazquez has been butter. He's at 92 pitches according to the Yanks announcers, who I'm going to annoit the best announcers in baseball, and Gordon is up in the pen. They are saying their has been talk that Vazquez would go on 3 days rest against Pedro this Sunday. If you ask me thats so damn stupid, why put that much pressure on your pitcher early in the season. Plus its been pretty proven statistically that pitchers on 3 days rest don't fair all that well.

Damn, I wish we had Vazquez...he is a freaking stud.

Harris singles it past Arod...then Uribe doubles in Harris and Maggs hits a 2 run shot to give them the lead. Thats whats going to happen.

Report - Valentin placed on DL
If I recall the Sox had some open slots on the roster that weren't filled, could be wrong though.

He pitched well. Arod made a good swing on an outside pitch, hell Arod didn't even know where he hit the ball. Didn't see Posada's homer, but he's a good hitter. I was zoned out and only saw it go over the fence. Come on Miguel
