Guys if Maggs resigns, then I for one am going to be exstatic. He is quietly and slowly putting together a hall of fame caliber career. He's still got to produce for a number of years, but he's just entering his prime. He's good defensively, good offensively, and smart on the basepaths. Besides that, he is a great guy and is a face of this franchise. As one of the biggest proponents of prospects on the board, I also say, even with all our stud outfield prospects, you got to remember, some guys are going to fail, some guys may not live up to their hype, and some may be moved to fill other needs. Of course, if they come through, Reed can play center with Anderson in left. That is a great defensive outfield and plenty have people have always said Sweeney could move to first. Fine by me. Plus you still have Lee who could DH. Remember, by the time all these guys are ready, Frank Thomas contract will be up, Maggs will be up and we'll kind of know where Reed stands (He'll of had production). Heck, Reed may be a starter within a month (Just call it a hunch). Bottomline, you don't not resign Maggs because we have great outfield prospects. We got an All Star in Magglio, who is a class act and if he resigns...YEEESS!!!!

And he would of not been worth the money. Wasn't the option like 10 mill or something?

Anderson and Sweeney had back to back doubles in the game, although they loss. I also found it interesting that that was Munoz's first start in his entire life. Even when he was a kid he didn't start. Pretty sucessful debut. Baj also got in the game Kind of upsets me that Valido is getting stiffed by Gonzalez. I think its bs, cause Valido has a ton of tools to be a heck of a defensive shortstop. Plus I like Gray. I realize Gonzalez also has potential, but at this stage of the game Valido ranks higher in my book and I'm sure most scouts books, so I think Andy should be playing another position (How about moving him to pitcher finally; I say this is his last year the Sox use him as a shortstop).

I'm assuming their will be some extra days off early on so it wasn't necessarily a big deal. Most importantly I think they wanted to set the tone with Garland to tell him we expect you to carry yourself and step it up. He's now a #3 pitcher and thats going to put a lot more pressure on him. The Yanks announcers also said that Garland will be an ACE. I thought they sucked early on, but the more I listened to them the more I really liked them. They really called a good game.

I thought i was working. Went in for about two hours and they are like you cna go home. I get home at 1:30, flip on the Sox game and its the 2nd inning. Oh man, I enjoyed this short day

Wow, this guy showed some serious balls. I think a lot of people have questioned him in the past for the way he's pitched. This is only one game, but he was all over the place early on and Ozzie showed confidence in him and damn did he get in a groove. This has to feel awesome for him. So I'm gonna give major props to Garland on todays start.

Some guy I have never heard of. And I think Buehrle is pitching tomorrow. I originally thought he was going the final game.

Kris Honel Pulled Due to Injury By Jason Gage April 9, 2004 FutureSox.com Didn't want to make a new thread for this, since I'm a little late on actually writing the story. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Top prospect Kris Honel's season debut didn't go as expected. Honel pitched 4 innings and left after facing one batter in the fifth inning due to discomfort in his right throwing elbow. Honel is going to be evaluated by team doctors this morning. In his four innings of work, Honel gave up 3 runs on two hits. He struck out seven while walking three. Check back with FutureSox later in the day as we find out more about the status of Honel.

2004 Charlotte Knights Preview By Andrew Dunn April 9, 2004 FutureSox.com In 2004, the Charlotte Knights look to rebound from a disappointing 2003 season, when they finished with a 74-70 record and one game behind Durham in the International League South Division despite going 29-19 after the All-Star break. Manager Nick Capra returns for his third season in charge at Knights Stadium with Curt Halser as the pitching coach and hitting coach Gregg Ritchie. The 2004 Knights team will have a completely different look with only 11 players from the 2003 team returning. Among the players no longer with the Knights are Ross Gload, who is a part of the White Sox’s bench, Jon Adkins, who has won a bullpen spot with Chicago, and Arnie Munoz, who has returned to Birmingham to join their rotation. Some of the new names joining from other organizations include shortstop Kelly Dransfeldt from the Texas Rangers, pitcher Jason Grilli from the Florida Marlins and infielder Bobby Smith from the New York Yankees triple A affiliate, Columbus. Others have been elevated from Birmingham to Charlotte, and these names include pitcher Enemencio Pacheco, Scott Bikowski, and highly touted prospect Jeremy Reed. The Knights should go into this season as the favorites in the South Division due to the valuable experience and overall talent they will gain from their new players. The strength of the team should lie in the outfield. Jeremy Reed will play in a corner spot, and many expect him to hit around the .300 mark in another fine season. He should expect a call – up to the White Sox when they expand the rosters in September. Another outfielder, Joe Borchard, has a lot to prove. After for a couple of years of being the White Sox’s #1 prospect, Borchard had a disappointing season last year for the Knights, hitting only .253 in 114 games. However, Borchard looked extremely impressive in his limited AB’s at Tucson and could have won a bench spot if it wasn’t for his quadriceps injury. The other outfield position will most likely be rotated between Mario Valenzuela and Scott Bikowski. There will be a lot of experience in the infield this year for Charlotte. Behind the plate, first base and third base will be rotated between three players: Jamie Burke, Mike Rivera and Ryan Hankins. Burke and Rivera have played in the majors before, with Burke having an excellent chance at being called up to Chicago sometime during the season. This will be Hankins’ second season with the Knights and his versatility will come in handy. Kelly Dransfeldt will be the team’s starting shortstop, while the second base job will be rotated between Mike Bell and Bobby Smith. Charlotte also has a lot of pitching weapons to utilize this year. The starting rotation looks very capable at this level and should carry the Knights to a lot of victories. Jon Rauch will most likely be the #1 starter, and will be looking for a good season to help push his way back up to Chicago. He has pitched for Charlotte the last three seasons, obtaining a 15-12 record in 49 games. The other four spots in the rotation will most likely go to Josh Stewart, Felix Diaz, Enemencio Pacheco and Jason Grilli. Grilli and Stewart have had major league experience and will be trying to force their way back onto the White Sox’s roster. This will be Pacheco’s first season in Charlotte after an excellent 2003 season for the Birmingham Barons, posting a 12-2 record. Diaz pitched last season for the Knights, with a 5-7 record, although some see his long-term future in the bullpen. The bullpen will also be a major backbone to determine whether this season for the Knights is a successful one. Many who will pitch there have pitched in the major leagues before, including lefty David Sanders, who is one of three returning bullpen members from last season, and Jose Santiago. New additions to the pen are Mitch Wylie from Birmingham, Vic Darensbourg from the Florida Marlins and Courtney Duncan from the San Diego Padres (former Cub as well). Kelly Wunsch will also be a short part of the Knights bullpen, as he will complete a 15-day rehabilitation assignment with Charlotte. Overall the 2004 season should certainly be an exciting one for the Charlotte Knights. A lot of players have a great chance to be called up to the White Sox this season and most eyes will be on the outfield combination of Borchard and Reed. This year’s team is capable of finishing first in the International League South Division and perhaps going even further.

Just keep calling him Krede aboz

Chone would work too. He's a bench player there and would be a good fit as well. I like Amazega because he can play both short and 2nd, but Chone could fill in in CF, although I personally think he's awful out there. At least he was this spring especially. Still, I'd really like either one of them on the Southside.
-
That ball landed in fair territory. Off the bat, I sure thought it was a homer. I was surprised when it went foul.
-
Catcher has been added. I went with Burke, although you could make the argument he is too old or has had experience so he shouldn't qualify. It was a tough choice, cause I like Charles Lisk a lot.
-
OEO Magglio and its 4-1 White Sox
-
Amazega, a freaking stud middle infielder tahts a little older (like 26). I doubt they'd give him up, but he's not on their 25 man right now. Wunsch alone may not get him, but give up a midlevel guy (if that) and I think you could land him. And let me tell you, I'd feel a hell of a lot better about our situation with him then I would with Bellhorn.
-
I'll tell you one thing Jugg, if I ever make it as a Gm, your going to be one of my statistician.
-
Makes sense to me. Bellhorn can play all of the infield positions and has a little pop. Still, I'd think Wunsch has a little more value. And I think those that mentioned Wunsch going to the Angels have a legitamate idea cause they don't have a lefty in the pen.

I was originally told it was precautionary, but I think it could be worse. Its just a wait and see.

That is a sick sig Ozz
