They'll be up for a long time and we'll always be adding stuff to them. New lines in a sense. Maybe we'll have a Soxtalk fashion show I'll call up Tyra Banks and Heidi Klum

Everything looks cool. I'm sure as time goes by we'll have more of a line and variety. We can always add more stuff as things prolong. I think we have a few ideas too that we'll roll out.

Just mail it to me and you'll get my signature. But I recommend framing it aftwerwards

Take Cotts out of the deal and I'd bet the Sox would do it.

Hey, don't know if you ever got my message, but sorry I couldn't catch that concert way back when I was out there. We left the game and were straight on the road back to Chicago. We got in around 6 am but seeing the Hogs play a few games was awesome. I think you'll enjoy the new players the team gets. I'm not sure if Anderson or any of the others will make the jump, but I guarantee that Todd Deininger will impress ya. From the looks of it, I think he will shoot up into the top 10 status next year this time.

I'll say he's one of the better pitching coaches in the majors. I'd rate him as top 5 probably. I think the Sox are very very lucky to have him.

I crapped my pants when I saw IU tie it up then I jumped for joy when I thought Iowa hit the shot with time remaining. At least they won in Overtime. Big win for the Hawkeyes who better hope they can at least get into the NIT.

Nice Mike...I remember like a week or two ago your computer was about to blow up, lol. Maybe you should just lay next to it, let it blow up and get yourself a nice tan And you are now marketing manager of FutureSox

SoxTalk Rolling Mock Draft (pick #6)
Chisoxfn replied to Gene Honda Civic's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
The Lions pull a shocker and draft Kevin Jones. They now have a stud receiver (Rogers) a qb they hope will turn into a stud (Harrington) and a quick running back. -
Thats a lot of money for a guy before he becomes a free agent. If anyone deserves it, it would be him though. But if I were the Cardinals I'd go long term, unless they believe two years from now the free agent market will be even weaker and they could pay him less somehow.

I would do Ishii for Konerko. Ishii is a very solid 3rd pitcher and I think Coop would make him a little better. He gets himself in trouble, but he k's a heck of a lot of batters. Come to think of it, there are some similarities between Ishii's numbers and Cotts minor league numbers in the terms that walks were really his biggest concern. Ishii or Perez, only difference is Perez is a little younger and probably has more upside, but Ishii has shown a pretty good ERA and seems durable although he throws a ton of pitches and kind of has trouble getting deep into games. I think if you get Ishii and Thurston then its a good deal (For Konerko). Or Perez and Thurston. And Baggs, I Think your going off a year ago's stats cause I don't think Thurston did that good this past year in AAA. Last year he was annoited the Dodgers starter and struggled in spring training (Grudz demanded to be traded when he wasn't going to be given a shot at 2nd base; hence the Hundley deal that helped the Cubs so much). Thurston is very fast, could be Willie Harris Jr (Not quite as quick) but he's supposed to be very solid. Would be a great backup plan and the guy is supposed to be a darn good hitter. For whatever its worth the Dodgers have kind of fallen out of love with him (last year they were raving about him) and people believe he will be dealt as a "throw in". And Edwin Jackson is probably one of the 10 best pitching prospects in all of baseball as well as Miller. Hanrahan is also very very good. If by the start of spring training we have Perez or Ishii as our 4th starter, Garland as our 3rd (only reason I'd do this is to break up the lefties Buehrle and Perez/Ishii) and then Jackson/Miller as our 5th I'd be very happy. I know the Sox would probably be tempted to give Scho the gig, but I also see no harm in having him as a long relief lefty and a back up plan. Scho did do solid out of the pen and has some good stuff. And if this cost the Sox Thomas or Konerko then I'd be perfectly content at the end of the day. I know the Sox offense will be more then capable of fielding a winning team whether they have Thomas or Konerko (sign Travis Lee as the replacement, or Randall Simon; Neither are as good, but they are quality left handed bats; I prefer Lee cause he can also play OF and has a better eye). Knowing that the Sox would have strong 5 man rotation (All of their pitchers, I guess other then Elo have the ability to get much better, even Buehrle has that ability but I don't really know how Elo could do better, I'll be pumped if he puts up what he did last year and I have confidence that he can). And Baggs, Jackson is fantastic. Miller is a hard throwing lefty for those unfamiliar while Jackson is a hard throwing righty who looked very sharp late last season. I still think it would be difficult to get something like this for Thomas or Konerko, but maybe the Dodgers really are desperate and if they get Maddux it could happen. I'd guess the Sox would have to give the Dodgers someone like Rauch or a position player, hell, whatever they want, I'd give them Borchard to finalize the deal .

I don't know who I'd compare him to. I can't think of any lefties out there that throw similar to him. Mulder has more velocity, and Glavine is Glavine and he has some pretty damn good control. But I do really believe Cotts could turn into one of those guys, but thats still a few steps down the road. But as his control imrpoves (All I had to do was see the futures game and I knew Cotts could pitch; the way he moved the ball up in the zone, down in the zone, all over the zone was beautiful. The hitters were off balanced and he was looking smooth). The curveball and changeup have continued to get better and while the Sox rushed the cutter on him, he got to work on it some more in the fall league and in the long run I think it will be an asset to him. Also, great post Rex, I think you pretty much summed it up exactly. JM definately didn't help him out. And no, that first game wasn't pretty (I remember being all pumped because he was going to make his debut in Anaheim and I was gonna be at the game thinking I'd see the first start of one of the next Sox aces, but everyone always has to remind themselves, when a prospect makes the jump to the majors, their is an adjustment period and depending on how raw a player is, their is also a definate learning curve...heck, I'd say all playesr have a learning curve, the question is how much they have already).
-
Remember, even without good control, Cotts did pretty good against Texas if I recall and Texas has had one of the more potent offenses in the majors the past few years. I don't believe he is ready, but I Think their is definately a reason to be excited about Neal Cotts.
-
But the Dodgers probably wouldn't do the deal unless they had Maddux in check. Now if its Thomas for Perez and a top prospect, then I think thats possible even if they don't get Maddux, but if its Konerko for Perez I don't know if it would be done without Maddux.
-
No, but I'd do it if they would accept Wright or Rauch, hell I'd give them Wright and Rauch (I for one don't think Rauch is a major league pitcher at least not a very good one).

Man, the one time I saw the get up kids, they freaking stunk. Luckily Weezer and Ozma kicked some serious ass so the 6 bucks was well worth the price of admission. I heard that Get Up Kids has changed styles though, since I saw them. Back when I saw them they were trying to be similar to Ozma and Weezer.

Actually, I got to say, thinking about it, I don't know if taking a shot on Griffey is worth it. But I could see some interesting type of deal going down. It will be inetersting if Williams can pry Perez and a top prospect for Konerko or Thomas. I throw Konerko out there because the trib had his name mentioned today.
-
So we trade Koch, Konerko and Thomas and get Casey, Odalis Perez, Reitsma, Ken Griffey and a prospect in return. Sign me up.
-
Remember how great Maddux was in his first 4 starts.
-
Well 11.5 K's per nine innings pitched in the minors and he flashed good strikeout ability in a short stint in the majors. Control is definately an issue, but the guy flat out gets hitters to miss the bat. He may need another half year to year in the minors, but he's the real deal.

Your sigs are freaking badass Cheat

Well their would probably be a 3-5 dollar profit on the goods, but all items would not go towards buying me a porsche but go towards financing FutureSox road trips to provide better coverage (Of course they'll be fun as hell too ) And in regards to Soxtalk they would go towards server costs and putting us on better and better servers as the site grows. I doubt we'd ever sell 1000 goods, but who knows.

I'm guessing we can use Sox's as long as they aren't like the White Sox sock. I already kind of came up with what I'm thinking for FutureSox's tshirts. I'm thinking of something with a FutureSox logo (In some cool writing across the front) and in the back the saying and then somehow infiltrate the top 10 prospects names around the site or something like that. Not sure if thats legal though. Having the players names on the back.
