  1. I agree...I am a Garland supporter. He's turned the corner and is getting more an more consistent although he still has a bit to go before he's a dominant pitcher and who knows if that will happen. I like Garland though and I think he will be a very solid pitcher. I just don't want to see the Sox start the season with him as the #3 pitcher.
  2. Personally I think either offer would be more then fair. I'd tend to go with the Perez, Mota, Miller deal because it helps the Sox more "NOW". But for those that aren't familiar with Guiterez the guy is a hell of a prospect, although I don't know if he can play CF in the big leagues. He was one of the Dodgers in the future game last year and really impressed me. If you remember, he had a base hit off of Cotts where he kept battling and finally ripped one opposite field for a basehit. If Williams got this and Williamson for Maggs and Rauch/Wright I'd be a happy camper. Like I've felt numerous times, the Sox need pitching. They still have Lee, Thomas and Konerko. They are right handed dominant, yes, but all three are still very productive players...so don't even go out comparing this years Sox to last years Dodgers (not that the Sox would have that pitching after this deal...but they'd be in much better shape) only having to add a right handed starter and possibly deal Koch. Still that rotation would be: Elo Buerhle Perez Garland FA/Cotts/Wright or Rauch/Diaz/Miller Pen Williamson Mota Marte Koch (Or if they do the deal for the lefty prospect) Wunsch Youngster Youngster or Dan Wright To me thats better then getting Nomar. I realize that Nomar is better then Jose and this will sicken me to say this, but he isn't 9 mill a year better not when you also consider what else the Sox are getting. I'd still prefer to then ship Jose for Carlos Guillen if at all possible. Anyway I don't want Nomar staying in Chicago...it just seems the best way they can win is if they can pull one of these deals with the Dodgers. If they do it for Maggs, then thats fine too...they can still make the deal with the BoSox for Williamson.
  3. Unless he's healthy, he's a bum. Ismael Valdes is also going to sign with the Padres.
  4. Scott Boras is going to be going back and forth between all teams and act like a 3rd person negotiator...kind of like an arbitrator and he can get the deal finalized.
  5. Think of it this way...the Sox could be the Expos or Devil Rays...then what would we be thinking.
  6. Merry Xmas Bev. Good to hear that your safe and best of luck to ya
  7. You got to cut PA a little slack....your right...we don't. Lets look at the bright side, all the other great ESPNers are here, we just have to put up with a little PA By the way...I'll give him my nomination for White Sox Analyst next year...since he wants to run away with the Awards
  8. Nice work 2k....u know me, I'm slow at finding these things out

    Soxtalk Server

Well just over 300,000 hits yesterday for a new soxtalk record So far this month the site is just over 2.7 million hits
  10. Armas, Garcia, Washburn would all be nice pickups and then compliment one of those guys with Moss or Johnson...that would be my plan at least. I'd rather get two from the first pool...but uncle Jerry ain't going to go into his pockets.
  11. Both would be solid pickups, especially when compared to what the Sox got. I am a Damian Moss fan.
  12. Who the hell knows...and RotoWorld says we give up Cotts. If its Maggs for Nomar and Williamson...its another story.
  13. Especially when Cotts, Rauch and Wright are looking like they will be the 4th and 5th starters at least as of now. You could also mention Scho.
  14. Josh, I agree KW wants Williamson, but you don't give them Cotts for Williamson. I wouldn't make that deal, let alone do it when the Sox are giving then Magglio who in my opinion is more valuable then Nomar. Mix that with the fact that the BoSox really want Magglio.
  15. He's gonna make 3 mil and the Sox are gonna give them Cotts. Why not just spend the 3 mill...you could of gotten a pretty damn good reliever at that price via FA.
  16. I tend to agree. Here's my question: Would people do maggs for Nomar straight up? Cause thats basically how this deal seems to work. Its Maggs for Nomar and Cotts for Williamson. I think the Sox are arguably getting hosed on both. If nomar was more proven on the road and signed long term I'd say hell ya, but he's not.
  17. Cause the year before Perez was one of the best lefties in baseball. Even if you take his road stats. And I fully believe Perez will revert to that form next year. I like Perez...just not for Magglio.
  18. I like Munoz a whole lot. I still don't see how the Red Sox could get a prospect out of the Sox in this deal. Screw that...just say no.
  19. Unfortunately right now I see hte Sox as finishing between 3rd and 4th. And ask anyone, I'm about as optimistic as it gets....usually.
  20. Ya...or just use Rauch to land Williamson and forget about Nomah.
  21. Thats why the Twins were geniuses for getting Carlos Silva for Milton. Milton was useless, he didn't do anything for the Twins last year. The Twins GM is doing a hell of a job, considering the billionaire is telling him to cut all that payroll. He has added Nathan, Silva and others, kept Stewart and just needs to find a starter or two.
  22. Welcome aboard and I wish SoxNet was still up...but like I say, there could be something in the works eventually...but not until the stuff that caused Soxnet to be closed is cleared up.
  23. If they give up Cotts and Wright they are fools, cause those guys would be who the Sox would have to count on as the 4th and 5th considering they aren't going to add anymore starters after this deal, unless they somehow decide they want to add payroll.
