Who the hell is this?
They don't have the link www.soxnet.net but they can basically call it what they want cause SoxNet is not trademarked or anything like that. But that has nothing to do with us. Were hoping to be able to publish again soon, but who knows.

Its official.....
You and me both, winodj.....oh, to have a "phenom" immediately live up to expectations, and not pull a Ruffcorn.. Remember, this "Phenom" was injured off and on for quite a while out of the gate. Buehrle was more of a "Phenom" then Beckett Yeah, but Jas, Buehrle was more of an afterthought as a draftee, whereas Beckett was a 1st Round guy that most expected to be all that, and he delivered. Its been a while since we've had a Top Draft Pick come up to Chicago and deliver like that. True that, didn't think of it that way. I'd have to say Frank Thomas or Rockin Robin were the last guys to do something like that in the Sox organization.

Sox Depression
If Thomas isn't here next year, I won't shed a tear. If Colon isn't and the Sox don't add a stud arm, then I will cry.

A name we haven't heard
Kelly would be a great hire. When he retired from the Twins two years ago, I thought all along he'd be a good replacement for Manuel.

Since I see a lot of people writing him off. This is just a formalidity, every player has to do this, otherwise they would lose all/any leverage because they would be stuck going back to their team at a bargain basement price.

Interesting idea
Only way I see it happening is by including Maggs and a prospect in the deal and you get Soriano, and Johnson and I would take the two of them. They would both be cheap for quite a while and would give the Sox some talent at two positions they could use it. Thomas can then stick around if he wants to, since most likely he will and the Sox can really keep their salary at a much better level. Like I said for them to take Konerko their has to be something worth while to them and I wouldn't mind giving them a prospect or something along those lines. Soriano wouldn't leadoff for the Sox. He would be the 2 hole hitter and the Sox would ask someone like Harris to leadoff or they could find a shortstop to make their leadoff hitter. My lineup Trade/FA - ss Soriano Carlos Lee - LF Big Hurt - DH Nick Johnson - 1st Joe Crede - 3rd Find an outfielder; there will be plenty out there thats decent; this is who will play right Harris/Rowand/Reed C - Olivo The lineup isn't the greatest out there, but with a solid leadoff hitter, Soriano, Lee, Hurt, Johnson, Crede and a solid outfielder pick up it would be pretty damn good and very young. Thomas would be the only one pulling in major bucks at least for the time being. Then the Sox can spend money on the pen and bringing Colon back. I'd really LOVE this deal.

Interesting idea
Reports are the Yanks are ticked off at Soriano because he is completely in a fog when he's out on the field. Not saying its a good thing to have a player thats in the fog playing for us, but I won't deny his numbers and if he's doing that lost, just think what would happen if someone would straighten him out.

Sportscenter
He also said Russ Ortiz to the Sox last winter was a done deal. Don't believe anything he says. It was a done deal until the Braves stept up and made a ridiculously high offer for him.

Interesting idea
I'm thinking a Soriano/Johnson for Konerko/Magglio type deal could be rather intriguing for the Yanks and Sox. I think the Sox would likely have to add a prospect (Maybe Jon Rauch or someone like Aaron Miles; nothing great), but I think it would be a very good deal for both teams.

Board time
Ok, I'll work on that tomorrow. I found out I dno't have access to that stuf right now so I need Mark or Alex to bump me back up with it.

Colon
Because pitching wins more games then hitting.

Shit
Crawford and Curry are the best of the bunch. And Heinrich is good.

Colon
You also have to consider all the injuries that plagued the Angels this year. I still think they're a potential playoff team even WITHOUT signing guys like Tejada, Stewart, and Colon. CWSOX45 I gotta disagree. Their rotation is awful. They are paying Appier 12 mill next year, Sele 8 mill, Erstad 8 mill, Salmon 8 mill, and Glaus 8 mill. Those guys are all pretty much bums. No one in that group deserves more then 4 mill for what they do. Appier and Sele deserve nothing. Thats 44 mill worth of basically crap. You could equal their production with about 8 mill. Didn't Appier's contract get picked up by the Royals? I could have sworn they released him. I think the Angels have a mediocre rotation at best, Washburn's always been pretty solid and I think Lackey and Ortiz had bad years. Scot Shields looked pretty good as a starter when I saw him as well. I think the Angels are a couple of pieces away from returning to October. CWSOX45 Shields did great out of the gate, but started to really struggle. He's a good reliever, but I don't think he's gonna start for them. As far as Appier, he cleared waivers so the Royals only had to pay him the minimum salary, the Angels pay the rest of his salary. Ortiz and Lackey are fine. Alright 3 and 4, good 4 and 5. Washburn is a fine 2. THey lack an ace. Insert Colon and all of a sudden they are in a spot. Add a veteran and they are in a really good spot. Thats what the Angels need to do, especially with their bullpen. It wouldn't take much, but they are busy thinking they need to screw with their offense, which is just fine. Only thing it really lacks is a good leadoff hitter. They could address that by moving Erstad, but they are afraid that would hurt their fan base. Stoneman is a moron though, so they'll screw up.

Middle infield???
For whoever it was that mentioned Miles. My own personal opinion is that he will never ever be a starting second baseman, at least not for a winning team. The Sox need a leadoff hitter and Miles doesn't fit that bill. He'd be lucky to hit .260 at the major league level and beyond that he won't reach base. He'd probably have a .300 OBP, which absolutely sucks. As far as Alomar goes, he's only a bit better. With the Sox his OBP was pathetic for a leadoff hitter. Harris is just as capable and is a good defensive second baseman in his own right. I'd rather go cheap at 2nd and spend the money on someone like matsui/Cabrerra and then have Lofton or someone leadoff.

Colon
They have a guy that absolutely loves baseball and he's said he's gonna lose money and do what it takes. He is projecting their payroll at 90 mill this year. They will go at Tejada but they drastically need pitching and Colon is an obvious need. One of Colon/Ponson/Pettite will be in Anaheim next year. Of course Anaheim is stuck paying a bunch of crappy playesr big bucks kind of like the Sox with Frank/Paulie and KOch. Let me say Frank is crappy cause he's a selfish ass.

Colon
Exactly, get pitching and a bullpen and use the rest to get you some speed guys and such and when the come up for huge contracts use your scouting to find new guys.
-
Free agency begins?
Free Agency doesn't start till December I Think or something like that. I know the teams have a while to negotiate soley with their players or at least I think they do.
-
Colon
If Bartolo doesn't sign with the Sox, then he will be in Anaheim, Mark my words on that
-
Colon
Remember, no one should blame KW for being stuck with Thomas. If only JR let KW run him out of town. I don't care what anyone says but the Sox are stuck now with huge contracts with two freaking DH's and that pisses me off.
-
Colon
That would be sweet, if they could move Konerko. There are quite a few guys I like on the Marlins of course I'm sure most of baseball does now, which will make it difficult.

Middle infield???
Eckstein is supposed to be moving to 2nd. I saw Kennedy interviewed a few days ago and he basically said he was gonna be leaving. Hinted at some goodbyes and such.

Grady Little Anyone?
I know Gaston wants to bring Molitor with him. Grady Little wouldn't be too bad either. He did a good job in Boston. Made a mistake in the end, but you can't necessarily blame him for sticking with his guy. McKeon would of took crap had Beckett given up runs, but instead he looks great. I look and see how the clubhouse was with Little and I know a lot of it has to do with the players, but Little had to be part of it.
