  1. Appier makes a ton of money. To sign him the Sox will have to let him pass through waivers and then sign him at the minimum. He is signed this year and next year at like 8 mill per season so no way do the Sox want to touch that. No one will pick him up and then a team can get him at the minimum (If I understand things correctly). I am not a big Appier fan, but as a fifth starter it isn't a horrible option. Add Appier as the 5th and acquire a good right handed reliever (Danny Graves, Lightenberg, etc).
  2. Valentine has really struggled in AAA. I think the key to the deal for the Reds is that Harrang can enter their rotation. I think it was a good deal from the Reds perspective. A's may of given up too much, but neither Valentine nor Harrang fit in their plans.
  3. Usually a hitter won't take any hacks in a simulated game but he will stand in the batters box. And they do situations and all that type of stuff. Its a great question though.
  4. I'll pass on Felix the cat. Was never a fan of his when he was with the Cubs. I think the Sox have the lefties in the pen now (With Sanders and Munoz in AAA as the next in line) and now they should add a good righty reliever or another starter. I'd still prefer a really good reliever because I think having an awesome pen would be HUGE, especially in the playoffs, but thats a big "if" since the Sox aren't even in first nor have they clinched anything.

    Kobe Bryant

    Steff beat me to it
  6. Thanks for the info Skipper. I'm a pretty big Angel fan (Not as big as the Sox) and I've watched Schoey since he came up. I always was a big fan of him and Wasbhurn as they developed at the big league level and I too thought he got a raw deal. Last year he definately should of been sent to the pen, but this year I haven't heard him whine other then saying he thinks he can start. I don't blame him considering Appier and Sele have been horrid this year and people like Mickey Callaway have a few starts with the Angels. I hope he doesn't whine, etc when he's with the Sox, but I do think he's a good pitcher. I also was a big fan of Glover but he really dissapointed me. When he made it with the Sox a few years ago he had awesome stuff. Each year since then the stuff has just got more bland.

    The wrong girl...

Leykis is a douche bag. He's been in trouble with the law before for beating his wife. How about you get your facts straight before you slander somebody? The charges were dropped, and the thing never even went to trial. Tom and his then wife were both drunk, and they got into a shouting match. She called the police, and you know what happens when a wife does that -- the guys gets arrested EVERY-FRIGGIN-TIME. Do your research before spouting off on things that you obviously know nothing about. haha ok he's not a douche bag, you're right. he only said the rape victim's name on the air with no reservations. here's your goddamn research. http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/leykis1.html Leykis is a deuche. Not only did he say the name and all that other crap but he was basically ripping her on the radio show. A buddy of mine was listening to it when I was in the car with him and I swear if I was that girl I'd kick Tom's ass. If people can rip Kobe (who may very well be innocent), why can't they rip on the "victim" (who may very well be full of s***)? Seems that they are equal. I'm sure Tom will apologize to the girl if she is telling the truth. Will those who are ripping Kobe apologize to him if he is proven to be not guilty? Highly unlikely. But Kobe is in the public eye already, so it's OK to rip him a new asshole left and right, right? I think people should just shut up about the entire damn thing when it comes to laying accusations on one or the other until the damn case is settled. There is so many conflicting reports thats its freaking ridiculous. Instead of making judgements people should just wait. And I don't find it proper to rip on a girl who could of been raped and beaten or whatever else. If she ends up making this crap up then I'd have my rant of how stupid she is and how she wanted fame, fortune, etc. I also haven't ripped Kobe. The only thing I've said is I'd be dissapointed if he did it cause he seemed to have his head on straight and it just seems like a rare trait out of most NBA players and other sport stars. I have said that Kobe was a fool for cheating on his wife (He admitted to that). Everyone is entitled to their opinions though. Its just if I were raped and it actually happened and all I heard was s*** on the radio of people calling me a whore, etc then I'd be really f***ing pissed. Just like I'd be pissed if I were Kobe and people were calling me a rapist if I knew I never did it.
  9. You do an excellent job bashing it CK. Now any constructive solutions to the problem of heterosexual hatred of homosexuals that would alleviate the necessity for the creation of such a high school? Well I think younger generations are now kind of growing up in it. Homosexuals are now portrayed on tv (Don't know if thats good or bad cause I don't know if it tells gays to be stereotypical and they have to live there way or not; I guess it depends on that individual person). Either way its becoming more accepted. This is something thats excited for a long long time, but has never really been mainstream until now so it is going to take time to be accepted. People aren't used to it. Most of the generations lived their hole lives thinking everyone they knew was straight. Hell, they didn't even think about it to be honest. So of course somethings and reactions are gonna be more rash then others cause they don't know about it. It would almost be like being put to sleep for a thousand years to wake up and see that humans no longer have interourse with themselves but with Aliens. (Maybe this is a bad example), but the thing is you'd be shocked. I think for a while you'd be like what the hell is this. But if you have kids and stuff and they grow up AROUND it, then I'd assume they would get used to it. I also think this school is bad if it means all gays are just going to go there. Don't isolate yourself cause if you feel you have to do that then your going to feel you have to do that for your whole life and I don't see what that solves. It just continues the same problem that is occuring now (Although I Think its really overhyped; I think now more people then not just don't care about your sexual allegiance, well depending on the state and area). Now if its just for gays that are really getting picked on and mentally are out of whack then it is a good alternative. Still, I Think the best thing in life is to be in a diverse enviornment and deal with sucesses, failures, other groups, people, etc. Kids spend most of their lives at school and if they are in that undiverse place all their life then they form their own clicks and when they go out to the real world they are shocked and won't know how to deal with things, etc.

  11. I thikn Ponson is a very good pitcher and would be an awesome addition, because the Sox could sign him and keep him here long term.
  12. he is overworked and needed a place to pitch. i think it is a shoo in that munoz is going to make it, it is a question of time. You make a great point about him getting overworked. he pitched a good 100 innings between Birmingham's season....Postseason and winter ball. They were actually talking about making him a starter this year...... Me thinks his arm is a little to weak to do so. Gotta like his Zito-esque curve though.... closer next year???? Remember...he just turned 21.
  13. Don't know anything about the Boston guy other then he was a first round pick and has put up solid numbers thus far. I'm assuming he has a high upside but I didnt' really look into the deal.
  14. I still think I was about the only person who supported Jimenez. Then again thats kind of how I am...afterall I have supported KW as well as Royce the Choice.
  15. I must of missed out on everything...hell I'm still lost. Vince is a good guy in my opinion, but everyone is entitled to their personal opinion. I know Vince and I are nuts enough to the point that we've supported Royce.
  16. Most DMB fans are definately the same dempographic as me, but I like pretty much all types of music. I just think Dave Matthews plays a pretty good guitar. It doesn't get pushed down my throat though, if it did I wouldn't listen to it.
  17. Seems like bs to me, but the radio made it sound like it was close to happening. Man they'd be giving up a lot for a guy that is having one good year. Its why Suppan scares the hell out of me, cause its gonna take a good to very good prospect to get him. IF they are gonna give up Drew send him to the M's for Freddy Garcia and then deal a prospect or two for Suppan and the Cards could solidfy their staff with Suppan and Freddy.
  18. IF he didn't he wouldn't have the job, imo. I enjoy hearing what he says. Usually he says things from a rational perspective and I do think he knows what he's talking about.
  19. maybe people are looking for a ray of light in getting taken to the clearance by billy beane. btw jas how can you say that kw is going to be a great gm??????????? are you drunk Because he's willing to make a team better and isn't afraid what the media will think. Look at everyone he's given up and Biddle, Kip and Foulke are about the only ones I can think that are producing at a good level elsewhere. While thats happened Sox have had Marte, Colon, Elo (He admitted it was luck, although Gammons said KW told him when he signed Elo that he could be a sleeper), Alomar, Everett, and I'm sure I'm forgetting quite a few cause I'm tired. I didn't mention prospects he's received or prospects he's given up cause until they reach the majors and produce they are just prospects.
  20. I respect Gammons. I know many don't, but I think on the most part their is validity to what he hears. Of course not everything he hears is going to happen, but he throws out the possibile moves and is in very good touch with the gm's around the league. I hadn't even though of Boone until someone posted something about it. In regards to Crede I kind of think KW considers him near untouchable mainly because his value is at a lower point considering his numbers this season. I think KW has a special group of prospects that he doesn't want to give up and the rest he uses to build and get guys he likes that can help the team and then each year he counts on Fontaine to have real good drafts (I trust Fontaine for this) to replentish the farm system.
  21. I think its mainly because Cotts and Reed are closer to the majors. Honel is still the #1 prospect in my book. I kind of call the three of them 1A, B, and C with Borchard behind them.
  22. Marlins would get JD Drew Cards would get Suppan Pirates would get prospects from the Marlins. Seems like a whole lot to give up though, especially for Suppan. Heard it on the radio so take it for what its worth.
  23. He made some comments how if he says its too much then you know its true cause he's not afraid to make moves.
  24. Honel and Cotts will be studs as long as Reed. They are the top 3 in my book right now.
