Thomas numbers...
JM would shed a tear knowing that SoxNet had another tinkerer in their midst Lol..I admit I'm a proponent of tinkering, but a constant tinkering where everyone has a set tinkering role

Lets talk about the Sox
Going to move this to the off topic board

Need good reasons for optimism???
Sox will need to win about 90 to win the division IMO. KC and the Twins have pretty easy schedules the rest of the way, especially compared to the Sox. I'm very confident that if the Sox make the playoffs it will be because they earned their way in, by beating the good teams and the bad ones down the stretch...not because they backed their way in due to two other teams sucking down the stretch. Although I'd take the division anyway possible.

Honel starting for the Barons tonight
I think he may be up there for good unless Cotts comes back down after his next start.

Trivia Question...
I'd guess Camminiti but I doubt he ever did it in the AL.

Serious question
Rodriguez was never supposed to be used. I think the only reason he was there was because the Angels had an injury.

Steve Stone
Stone is a good analyst and would be an awesome pitching coach.

Cooperstown
Hall is really cool. YOu can spend 2 or 3 days roaming everything. I did it during a roadtrip so we had exactly one day to do it and we liked halled ass through the hall and was their from opening and closing. We were able to get things in, but it would of been much nicer to slowly go through it. As far as what to do in the city, its an incredibly small city and I don't remember any big city even near there. Hell, everything was booked when we got there at 1:30 AM that we just slept in the car that night.

Trivia Question...

This team is officially done!
Him, Konerko, Carlos Lee, Miguel Olivo, Joe Crede, Carl Everett. I could say that about all those position players as well as Jose, Sandy, Maggs, Graffy, and Harris. They are always giving it their all in my opinion.

ok... then what is the long term plans for rowand.... it seems to me there is alot of untapped potential there No way should the Sox give him up. He's a good centerfielder with a great arm and when his swing is on he hits the hell out of the ball. Hitting over .400 since his callup. Hell if it were up to me Thomas would be getting a lot less playing time and Everett would be DH'in. Who knows if it would work though. I really like what Rowand brings. Also, don't the Sox have a really good record in games that Rowand is in since he was recalled?

Konerko is a classic 5 hole hitter while I really am liking Carlos in the 2 hole. In the future I'd move Magglio in the 3 hole with Tejada in the 4 hole (if the Sox picked him up). The flaw is, once again the Sox are right handed dominated. But if they resigned Everett you could stick Everett in the 5 hole with Konerko in the 6 which wouldn't be a problem. Then you have Everett DH a lot and play in left and center on ocassions for Lee/Rowand/Jeremy Reed/Borchard. And the Frank Thomas we see now, is a very solid 5 hole hitter. Anyone see a possibility of moving Konerko to the cleanup spot with Maggs in the 3 hole and Thomas hitting 5th or having Konerko hit 3rd for the time being or even Carlos hitting 3rd, Everett 2nd and then Maggs, Thomas, Konerko.

Madden 2004
I also heard that in the training mode, you can like sort of gamble your points in those contests. After you do the first contest or whatever, you can do the next one on a harder difficulty and possibly double your points, or you can fail and lose all your points, and you can then do it again too. Sounds like it will be a blast. Question....what's the big difference from NCAA04? Because I know that in NCAA04, defense is easy. Mainly the defense is way harder in NFL. Thats because the gamestyle in college football is not typically a defensive style but more an offensive style. I'd say NCAA is more wide open while Madden is more run the ball, pass...mix things up. Either way both are good games and are different.

Thomas numbers...
Well thats his problem. ALthough I still don't know why the Sox can't let him play first once or twice a week with Konerko there the rest of the time. That play at first would only be minimal and it would give him time to freshen his mind and not think about hitting. Plus one of those days off for Konerko could be a day where he DH's and the other is a day where Daubach can play. Seems like a solid plan to me...thats why Manuel would never implement it.

"One" is..
I just saw that Adkins flat out had some really impressive stuff so I see a future in him. He's pitched really good in AAA and good enough to earn a shot with the club. Could he be worse then White or Koch?

as a manager.... i dont know what i would do with thomas....because he is a prima-donna there is no easy was to work him out of the line-up... but at times it pains me to see him in it.... the dude is kind of an enigma Like I've said all along, I'd rather have Thomas wearing another uniform. I love the guy (Him and Rockin Robin and McDowell were the first Sox I really started following) but it really his time to part ways. Thomas is a solid player, but not a star and having him in the 3 hole is acting like he's a star and paying him the 6 to 7.5 mill he's gonna get next year is ridiculous. Carlos Lee and to a lesser extent Paul Konerko should be up in the lineup. I am not saying KOnerko has been worth what the Sox paid him this year, but his attitude is awesome (Not saying Frank's isn't) but he didn't whine when on the bench like Frank does. So the guy didn't want to get set down, I wouldn't want to either. Keep Konerko, Lee, Rowand and add another bat that can play a position as well as DH and go with that to keep guys fresh. Use the DH the way it was meant to be used (By rotating in a set of 4 guys giving some guys a night off in the field every once in a while). Actually if the Sox were to spend 7 mill on Thomas, I think it would be downright nuts cause he's simply a DH. I'd rather take a risk in someone like Matsui (SS from Japan) or if possible Tejada cause they fill the vacancy at short and provide offense to the poitn the Sox can gamble at 2nd with Hummel/Harris/Graffy. Oh well enough about last year. I hope the Sox go out and kick ass the rest of the way and prove this Anaheim series was just a fluke part of the 2nd half.

Cotts to start Sunday
Heck, this season isn't enough to evaluate him. The kid has a season in AA and now people are ready to judge his career in one start or a few months. Reality check (This isn't pointed at anyone directly) but pitchers and players don't just come on the field from the minors and play like stars right out of the gate. Only a select few do so. Ya, Webb and Willis have done it this season, but overall most players take 2-3 years to develop and even some take more then that. I think Cotts will be a quick learner, but for anyone to of given up on him now is ridiculous. I'll be cheering for him in his next start and I hope he has much better sucess. GO GET EM NEAL

I will stick optimistic. This team was a dissapointment once again on the West Coast and once again when they play a team that is in a slump. I have to say their must be a lack of fire, etc. These guys seem to get lazy and then bam...they fall into a losing streak which is what happens. No matter how good a team is, when they don't play hard...they will lose against almost any major league baseball team more often then not (Cause everyone in this league is good). What I know is this team is going to have to win otherwise their will be some serious changes. One of which will definately be Manuel and I don't think any of us know who else would be gone. Maybe JR decides he saw enough out of this team to keep most of the pieces, maybe he doesn't. Who knows...thats in the future. What I do know is, is that this team has the pieces to do it and the only thing holding them back is them and the manager. In todays game don't know what you could blame the manager for, other then continuing to play Thomas who has been terrible once again.

Fire Art Kusnyer
Sox need to get their bullpen figured out. I will say this, Adkins has some freaking stellar stuff. We may have a Guillermo Mota on our hands in him. By that I mean a lightening arm whom the Sox would of had to do some work on but once it comes together we get a stud reliever or potentially a starter (Don't quite think he'll be anything more then a spot starter). Most Dodger fans were ticked when the Dodgers acquired Mota from the Expos for Matt Herges. Now they seem pretty content with the move. Hopefully we can be content with having Adkins.

The West Coast Jinx continues
Hudler was saying before the game today (Angels Broadcast) that he had never seen that play made before and was saying how awesome of a play it was by Kennedy. I think it was a heads up play, but Kennedy made a hell of a throw and somehow the SS was there.
