This is the time to get the absolute s*** knocked out of you. Then maybe, just maybe it will lead to an absolute blowup of this team or at the very least a new manager.

Thank goodness I got baseball tonight on. I don't want to watch this crap.

I'm starting to think JR just doesn't want to pay Backmans airfare. Maybe if we call him up and say we'll pay for it, then we could have him as the manager.

I think we need a new one that says Heartless Bastards and has a Sox logo in the middle of it. And if any of the Sox hit a homer and one of you guys catch it, I say throw the damn ball back. Maybe then they'll realize that homers don't mean crap if your only swinging for the fences. Show me some singles, doubles, opposite hits, bunts, sac flies, and good baserunning and I could give a damn if they ever hit homers. Did I mention good pitching. Sox should acquire Ponson and give up whatever hitter or hitters the Dodgers want to get Odalis Perez and then move Colon.

My thoughts.
Oh, they can be ousted to say the lease. All I need is a call from Jerry to tell me I'm the GM and I can promise immediate changes. I'll be going in with a mission to blow this s*** up, and get ready for next year. Heck, I still think after blowing this team up, and getting a new manager, they could still win the central.

Im' sick of hearing. The guy just pitched great against us. Yet the SOB hasn't pitched a great game the entire season. He hangs a bunch of pitches but they do crap, and then they go out and say it was a well pitch game. Today was a joke in the first inning against Maroth. All the Sox were trying to pull outside fastballs/changeups that were out of the zone (Alomar did have a solid at bat; liked the bunt attempt). I do like Everett and actually Konerko though.

The best part of firing him is their is a shot the next guy can put some life into this team. We know Jerry can't, so what the hell is the point of keeping him. If this team is still playing like crap and the Sox don't blow this thing up, firing the managers, trading a lot of the players, then I'm gonna be pissed. Damn It I need to vent. I'm gonna have to buy me a punching bag, if I'm gonna keep watching this filth.

My thoughts.
Well, I've been preaching for small ball since the start of the season. I always said it was hopeless for JM to be a small ball manager, even though he claims he is one. Through six seasons with the Sox, since 2000 this team has played absolutely no small ball, and every year the fundementals continue to get worse (Especially in regards to small ball). Gimme a break, what has this guy done to keep his job. I'm not saying the players are doing anything to keep their jobs.

or perhaps we could just fire JM? But that would be too easy Common sense says he should of been gone at the break at the very latest. He has had 6 years with this team (I think). 2000 was great, the years before that were fine. 2001 was dissapointment, but I'll blame injuries. Last year and then this year are jokes. Both of these teams had the talent to win the division and floundered and played crappy baseball.

Not with Jerry as the manager. Why don't we just hire Jerry Springer, at least then we'd have some boxing matches to entertain us during the ballgames.

If you think about it, the only time this team ever scores is when they score about 5 in and inning and then go to sleep the rest of the game. Never do I see two and three run innings unless a homer is involved. Its a freaking joke. Can the manager, and can the players. This is a lost cause.

Kip, I think you say it all in that post. :fyou the Sox.

WE STINK
I decided to watch Rush Hour 2 on TV instead of the filth of the Sox. Of course I keep flashing back to hope to see something happen, all I saw was Colon continue to get squeezed and then hit. This is so pathetic. Its time for a closed door meeting where some tables and chairs are thrown. I'm thinking the SOx need to get in a brawl with the Tigers tonight to wake themselves up.

Screw a doubleheader I don't want to put that kind of pressure on the pen. I just want to start the second half on a winning note today. I don't care what KC, Minnesota or anyone else does, I only care what the Sox do.

Geez
Great to see Rauch made an appearance.

Should Pete Rose be in the HOF?
Supposedly all the evidence is in the folder and Pete didn't want that folder opened so he agreed to the ban. What people close to the case say is that there is more the enough evidence to show he bet on his team numerous times, not just once. You think if he hadn't done that, he would of signed the deal. Sure he goes out and says all these things, but why not re-open the case and let all the evidence go out.

Should Pete Rose be in the HOF?
The man was definately awesome, but people that bet on baseball don't belong in the hall of fame. This rule was created long before Pete was there and its going to last long after Pete Rose's life. In no circumstance should he be allowed into the Hall. Now if he admits to everything, then the day after he dies, I'd put him into the hall of fame. Now in regards to Shoeless Joe, I think he should be in. The flaw is they say he took the money, even though he never tried to throw the game.

Official Vegas thread
Ya, Blackjack is the best. The professionals don't really count cards, but they know the deck. They'll remember if a lot of low cards are out, so they know when to hit and all those type of things and then when they know they are in good position that a lot of high or low cards are up in the deck, they start betting a lot and they win most of the time cause they have a really good guess of whats there. Now if you really know sports you can also be able to bet on it. The key is not letting personal allegiance to a team effect your way of picking.

I have no idea. The only thing I can think of is that as Konerko is moving back into a solid hitter that Jerry wants him on first so he doens't overanalyze and get himself back into a funk. I think playing the field can be really helpful in coming out of an offensive slump. I also think playing DH shouldn't have this much of an effect as it does with Frank. I'm thinking that Frank and Konerko should split time at 1st/DH.

Lineup looks solid. I'm very glad to see that Jose isn't playing against a lefty. Only thing is, I'd like to of seen Rowand playing. He's really been doing great and I think the Sox should move one of their Leftfielders so Rowand can play almost everyday in center (Harris backing him up). Come on Sox, lets play each game from this point like I know your capable of.

Wunsch on Schedule to Return Soon
SN Report: Wunsch On Schedule to Return Soon By Mario Scalise July 17, 2003 SoxNet.net (SN Report #571) - In what has felt to have been a long time, White Sox lefty reliever Kelly Wunsch, placed on the 15-day disabled list with back problems in mid-June, is finally set to return to the pitching mound. Wunsch, 31, plans to pitch this week with the triple-A Charlotte Knights and could be up with the Sox by next week. The back injury was sustained while covering first on a June 11 game against the San Francisco Giants. In 22 games and 15 2/3 innings, Wunsch has a 1.15 ERA, nine walks and 12 strikeouts. Opponents are batting .102 off him.
