working on it right now...

Lee isn't slow. Lee just swings for the fences too many times and in my opinion acquiring Ponson and Lightenberg would put the Sox over the top. You'd have 5 very good pitchers and Wright would move to the pen as Glover either goes to Bmore or gets shipped somewhere for a pinch hitter. Pen: Wright, Wunsch, Marte, Tom, Koch, Lightenberg, White Let Koch/Tom/Marte close with Lightenberg in the 7th and one of the guys that isn't closing in the eighth and you have a backup plan in case anything happens. Plus Wunsch and White can get it done and Wright is a long guy and can get settled in the pen. I'd say that would be a heck of a pen. Rotation Colon Buehrle Loaiza Ponson Garland

I understand what is happening. I find myself getting upset that people actually believe this crap. Ya, I know..just wanted to point out. Kind of like how at times we here what the Sox are offering for a trade, but thats what they want to give up, not what the other team is asking for.
-
I think a Ponson/Lightenberg package with Carlos Lee and maybe even Arnie Munoz or Matt Ginter would be enough and I think that would put the Sox over the top. I'm willing to chance on Konerko getting a little more playing time cause I Think he'll get through this thing. Plus, he still wouldn't be needed to start all the time as we would use Daubbie in left/dh with Everett playing the other and I'm very happy with Rowand/Harris in center. I like having one of the centerfielders in the 2 hole of the lineup.

This is what the Yanks want for him. This isn't what the Sox are offering.
-
Maggs rips a triple off the very top of the wall. He's stranded as Everett strikes out on a nice curveball. To the bottom of the 1st: 1-0 Sox
-
I wouldn't be giving up a whole lot for him. His ERA could be lower, but I like the low batting average against. Nice pickup, but I fear they'd be asking for way too much. Sox would be better going for someone on the Marlins or another team that they could keep long-term if they were going after it. Or just go after Lightenberg or something along those lines.

Right now I don't think there are any offers, but I think the deal does make sense. Urbina's Numbers YEAR G GS IP H R ER HR BB SO W L Hld Sv BS BAA WHIP ERA 2003 37 0 36.2 31 18 17 6 16 38 0 4 0 24 4 .230 1.28 4.17

I'm sure Carlos is on the block, I'd guess for a starter. I love his defense but he's always swinging for the fences. I can't stand that philosphy. Like Mario told me yesterday the coaching staff needs to stay on these guys. Maybe they are, and if so, then Carlos sure isn't listening.

Frank blasts one into centerfield, but right at Baldelli. Still, it was more then enough to knock Alomar in. Way to go Hurt, Arow and Alomar...thats textbook baseball. 1-0 SOX
-
Nice Job JM and Rowand Rowand has a perfect bunt and Alomar gets to 3rd. Come on Frank, drive him in.
-
Whooo Groundrule double by Roberto Alomar to start the inning Do we bunt him over with Aaron?
-
Supposedly the Sox have turned down this trade as the Yanks wanted Neal Cotts.
-
Thanks Rex Its definately a plus that he's back in the rotation. I guess I was right with my guesstimate of his June numbers.
-
I actually think Carlos should be on the block for a relief pitcher or starter. Then have Daubach and Everett rotate in left. Everett plays ocassionally in center, but its mainly Harris and Rowand who I think can handle the job. Then let Daubbie/Everett/Konerko rotate at the DH position. If you get a starter for Carlos, move one guy from our rotation to the pen and then still use a prospect or two to land a damn good relief pitcher, imo. This team really could use one more reliever. Then again Wright could be that guy, as I think he will be able to throw quite a few pitches all in one inning and thats tough on hitters.
-
If anyone wants a big reason for Alomar's slip, they should look at the fact he had no protection in the lineup, mixed with the fact that Howe took him out of his game. He wasn't allowed to bunt, nor was he allowed to steal. That may seem minimal to some, but when you make your living playing agressive, heads up baseball and doing all those things it makes a huge defense. Eventually guys stop playing in on the corners which closes the big holes he once had. Mix that with him never being in the NL so he didn't recognize the pitching and I chalk that up as another reason. I also think he wasn't happy there. He will be happy with his brother and in competition. The Sox will be alright.

Trust me, Anderson isn't going anywhere and in a year he may be replacing Borchard as our future outfielder while Reed is already starting at the major leauge level. Sounds to me like Bounds should be up in A ball and I'm guessing Anderson will be up there soon enough this year. I wonder if they'll try Nanita up there as well.
-
I'd go with a day off, cause he needs one if not two or three.
-
This looks like a good lineup.

Well it depends on where Cotts misses. Since I haven't seen the kid pitch its only on numbers and second hand stuff from people like Rex. If this kid is missing low, then I'm not super worried. Control problems get to you if your all over the place and finding the fat part of the plate. While I'm not saying Cotts doesn't have control issues, cause he does, and to me that is the one thing holding him back from becoming a top top flight left handed pitching prospect in baseball (Not only the Sox organization). And if you want to see something, look at the strikeout numbers he puts up. He has foul movement on all his pitches and flat knows how to pitch. I have to agree with Rex here, he will gain control. Now if we had an offer of Javier Vazquez for Cotts straight-up, then I'd do it as long as the Sox weren't gonna get rid of Javier.

I'm down with you on that. I'm surprised you didn't buy into the stat that hits are basically luck, the key is keeping the ball out of play. I think that idea is a bunch of crap, cause if good pitchers, especially a good sinkerballer hits his spots, then there is no luck in giving up hits. Its typically luck that a squibber gets through.

DO NOT DO THIS. Trust me, as i speak from experience. Tickets to the Sox game: 20 Bucks Hot Dog, Beer, and Nachos: 15 Bucks Making Some Nuts Dreams Come Through...Pricessless Heather, key word to this is NUT. It can't be worth it. Think of it this way. You need the money, he wants ya badly. Don't be tempted by his scheme to get you with 20 buck Sox tickets, and if he pulls any crap about it, you get a lawyer and sue him for sexual harrasment (Thats if he fires you for this). My guess is he isn't stupid enough to do it, but if he is, then it is wrong and he deserves to be sued. If you sue him, you don't have to worry about money for a car

could olivo be in the running for a gold glove?
Chisoxfn replied to Iguana's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Olivo won't make it yet. Typically it takes a year or two till a guy gets that kind of respect unless he's on a big time team. Plus his playing time is limited. Don't fret though, he will win a few before he retires. I also think we'll see him make big strides over the next few years at the plate. The one thing I worry about is his loss of strike zone judgement. In the past I always thought of him as a guy with good judgement, but I haven't seen it at all lately. -
You can finally drive. Congrats and Happy Birthday. Sox better not lose to the DRays on your bday. Have a rootbeer on me
-
No, I don't think they should drive. I have no problem with them driving as long as they actually have insurance and such, simply because its not a right granted simply to Americans. Now if for some reason I have to pay taxes because of it, then screw it. Yep, I hate paying taxes. This damn state spends, spends and spends more and thats why they still are struggling to figure out their damn budget. I can not wait to cast a vote to recall Gray Davis and to elect the Terminator. Davis is calling for plans to increase taxes, increase spending, and increase Vehichle registration, something that is already 3 times higher then it is in any other state. Enough is enough, get someone in charge the understands economics and can get things in shape. California has a larger deficit than all the rest of the states combined, yet when Davis was elected it had the bigger surplus. Sure blame the economy, but the housing markets here continue to grow and grow and grow, which has really lessened the recession to the point that this should never of happened. I'm so sick of Davis. He was caught campaigning when he had a bill on his desk (Against the Law) and all he does with that money is smear other politicians who want to run against him. I know thats what politicians do or at least some of them, but this guy has no ability to run a state and shouldn't be running the state. Why the voters were so stupid to elect a guy that they didn't approve of is beyond me, but he would never of won if the other candidates weren't so afraid of what parts of their past he'd bring up. Afterall, thats why Arnold backed out.
