QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 24, 2016 -> 02:34 PM) I'd bet she outdoes that pretty convincingly. One can only hope she does. Anything less than a full fledged beat down does nothing but give the disgusting movement some form of traction (then again, its all rigged anyway).

QUOTE (Ezio Auditore @ Oct 20, 2016 -> 06:49 PM) I once went to Orange County and I was even in Irvine, but couldn't get a hold of Jason. He sucks and is a bad admin Now I am even sadder that you never reached out to me when you were in my town.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 23, 2016 -> 05:53 AM) Don't think Cruz beats Clinton. He's not well liked by anyone and too much of a religious conservative to win a national election. The FBI simply won't indict a candidate of the president's party unless it's a crystal clear case like Watergate where the entire process of governing has been subverted. Questionable judgment is a different standard. Honestly, I can't stand Cruz, but I might have, with time, gotten around to voting for him, but I agree with the premise, I think any of the candidates other then Cruz / Trump would have thumped Hillary.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 24, 2016 -> 09:55 AM) The taunting of the people he was killing was just chilling Yep. I knew too. Sucks cause I was quite happy at the time cause I was a big fan of said character (still am). That said, what they did, made the episode so much more powerful. IT took me into the what else is going to happen next.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 24, 2016 -> 12:57 PM) I think the point is Depth can be flipped fairly quickly, and in the NFL teams frequently go from worst to playoffs. We knew they had no depth and we knew this was a rebuild, but this isnt nearly as long as a rebuild as many think it will be That depends. Given we are in year two of the rebuild and it won't be until year three (presumably) where we have taken the next QB, that does still put us farther away than would be ideal. Ideally we would have found that player sooner vs. later and QB's take time to develop. It is why if I were the front office, I'd be thinking long and hard at Jimmy G as he has shown enough that would make me take a chance on acquiring him, and you'd expect to be able to flip the "contender" switch sooner if it worked. Kind of the perfect storm for why a team would move him (given Brady is there...albeit, he won't be there for too long, but I don't think Jimmy G will take a back seat, nor do I think the Pats can afford to pay him enough to where it would be worth it for him to do so). Now realistically, I have no idea what it would take to get him from the Pats (not to mention how much you'd have to pay him and because you'd have to pay him big bucks, you add in the fact that if he busts, it isn't juts a wasted draft pick, there is the salary cap ramifications). I'm not enamored with any of the top draft picks at QB (where I see some Andrew Luck type player out there, where I'm fairly confident at a minimum, they will be above average).

QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 24, 2016 -> 12:25 PM) I think if you find a talented quarterback you're 75% there. Look at the turnarounds made by the Cowboys, the Eagles, etc. A LOT of warts can get covered up by a decent quarterback and a few playmakers. A big if, but I agree completely with you. We have had massive amount of injuries, etc. Our depth is improving, I've liked what I've seen from various young players. We lack high impact talent, but we can hope some young guys can develop into that and we find some more. The key is QB play, it can be the difference between being really good and really bad (all else being equal, imo). If you have bad QB play, only a truly elite d can make up for it and even then it is tough.
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 24, 2016 -> 12:19 PM) I think you guys overestimate how large the talent gap is. I think the results on the scoreboard make us look further away than we really are. With Cutler, we are not near as bad of a team as say the Niners or Browns. We aren't a playoff team either. I'd argue that we are pretty much midway between being a playoff team and being a Browns / Niners level bad (with Jay at QB). Take that for what you want.
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 24, 2016 -> 11:15 AM) Well he's been in a bit of a rough position, tbh. He's going to get criticized no matter what he says in regards to the qb position. Technically, I thought he handled it the right way. Minimized the controversy as long as he could. I figured Jay would be cleared to play (mainly because Jay is a tough guy and will want to give it a go) and clearly Jay has a lot riding on his production (i.e., future career chances for other teams). Ideally he'd do good and we'd be able to trade him for something of value (even though we'll likely have little leverage). Oh and somehow we'll find ways to lose (like botched special teams play).

QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Oct 24, 2016 -> 09:38 AM) I thought it was an excellent episode. Easily the most violent scenes ever on "regular" TV. You're right on about showing how Rick changed. It will be interesting to see how this season plays out. A thought: I knew that was coming (but it really set the tone since we were all expecting one thing). Such a gruesome scene.

That episode of TWD was so freaking intense.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 21, 2016 -> 06:20 AM) Unsure what you mean by this, I was under the impression that Cutlers contract isnt guaranteed in any way going forward, he is basically year to year now. Are you saying if he gets injured this season, that his contract somehow becomes guaranteed going forward? I doubt Barkley starts a game. He is baaaaaaaaaad Am I mistaken? I know if we cut him nothing is guaranteed, but for some reason, I presumed if he was hurt, we weren't able to cut him. Am I wrong? Might very well be. Maybe I'm making stuff up because of the whole Colin kaeperneck situation.
-
Did Floyd get hurt again late in the game?
-
With Long getting hurt, I wonder how much we mess with him. He already has the Labrum injury...at what point do we IR him and let him worry about being in tip top shape / health for next year.
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 20, 2016 -> 08:07 PM) Tough night for Bausby He was torched. Barkley looked very uncomfortable and very bad. I presume Bears have to think long and hard about what they do with Cutler. I presume he could play in 11 days, but do they ever play him again (and risk him getting hurt and thus the Bears being on the hook for him in future years) or will they fully stick with Barkley (and whomever they sign off the street). I'm sure Barkley will look better with some real practice, but if Barkley is going to finish out the season, we might not win another game.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 20, 2016 -> 03:21 PM) Mail-in ballot now and forever! (I've been banished to Cali for the last 2+ months with no end in sight so I'm really glad that's an easy option in Illinois.) Where in Cali?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 20, 2016 -> 11:42 AM) Now that the sausage is out on how the DNC operates behind the scenes, there really isn't room to pretend they aren't willing to go to whatever lengths it takes. We saw their discussions about their own candidates, I don't doubt for a second that coordination is absolutely taking place, but just right at the line of what it takes to be "legal"-ish so as to maintain plausible denialability in case they get caught... just like they do for everything. Lets not be ignorant and not imagine that the same doesn't happen on the right side. That is an aspect of politics. They want enough distance for plausibile deniability, etc. Over the years, both sides do plenty of things. That said, the whole push violence thing was bush league.

Damn...we could have had Francona.

Somewhere do we think Jed Bush is thinking, Billy, why the f*** didn't you tell me about those recordings back when I was running in the primary?

QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Oct 19, 2016 -> 09:18 PM) I actually like Hillary. I think her heart is actually in the right place. She has the stink of corruption around her, but when you've been investigated virtually nonstop for 30 years - that happens. Do I think she's clean? No. But, I don't think anyone is. But I think all the scrutiny has probably made her cleaner than most. As a conservative, deep down, I hope we see a lot from a policy perspective of what happened in the Bill whitehouse, which was a largely left / center approach which as a conservative isn't the worst thing that could possibly happen. Given how high profile she has had to be, I'm pretty astonished at the poor judgement she has showed. Whether it was the Clinton foundation, the emails, Benghazi, etc. I do agree that ultimately she wants to do what she believes is right for America (at least to some extent). I honestly don't know what the f*** Trump is doing and what his motive is (I legitimately think he and Bill will be smoking a cigar with mistresses in some random backroom of a Trump resort when this election ends...with Trump saying, see Bill, I told you I could con America into electing Hillary).

QUOTE (Ezio Auditore @ Oct 19, 2016 -> 09:17 PM) Carson makes a fool of himself every time he speaks. I was more surprised we hadn't seen him out there. After talking a bit in Trump's camp he seemed to dissapear (or maybe I'm misremembering). All I know is I'm more and more ready to elect Paul Ryan in 4 years

QUOTE (Ezio Auditore @ Oct 19, 2016 -> 09:07 PM) I think Hillary and Trump are both bad, but in different ways. Hillary is bad like processed sugar. Trump is bad like crack cocaine. So I can either eat some cookies, or smoke rocks. That's pretty easy I think. I am disgusted that we have allowed for things to be at a point where people who don't fit the description of American values can be potential candidates for this country. Policy is absolutely important, but before you even get to policy, you have to cover character, and to me, if you have no character, you shouldn't be even a legitimate candidate for president. It should be a full blown pre-requisite. Now Hillary's character is better then Trumps. My 3 year old has less tantrum's than Trump. If I can't say that the actual behavior of a candidate isn't indicative of how I'd want my children to treat others and what should exemplify the greatest nation in the world, then I absolutely could never vote for them. We as American people need to go back to holding people legitimately accountable and demanding better out of our politicians and candidates. That said, we the people are the reason we are in this mess to begin with. What has Dr. Carson been up to? Haven't seen anything from him in a while.

QUOTE (Ezio Auditore @ Oct 19, 2016 -> 09:02 PM) he was better than the other two debates, mostly in control of himself, but still disqualifyingly bad by normal standards. I just can't picture Romney debasing himself like this. Oh, I think he's horrendous. I also happen to think Hillary is horrendous too, though. I think she has shown absolutely horrific judgement and moral character time and time again (this is ignoring my differing views on policy). If she wasn't such a crook, I'd actually vote for her. At least she isn't horrifically liberal in comparison to other democrats. I disagreed more on Bernie's policies but believed in who he was. Then there is Trump, who is downright disgusting (and I don't even understand what his actual policies are in many cases).
-
By the way, for those of you saying Trump was unhinged, I largely thought the opposite. I was really expecting him to be fully unhinged (even by his standards) and instead he was far calmer than I could have ever anticipated (again, this is not based on normal candidate standards but Trump standards). I figured he was going to go full on insane in this debate (figuring he had nothing more to lose so why not go down fighting and throwing insults left and right).
