QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 01:15 PM) I've also gotten the vibe the Sox want to complete 2-3 deals in a row in the quick succession, which is obviously requires a lot of moving parts. You want to get it right, but at the same time, you wait long enough and teams move on. Maybe the plan is aggressively see if we can contend (i.e, can we pair together 2-3 moves quickly that make us contenders) and if that answer is no, we move to a plan B? Otherwise I don't get the sense for why you need to make them in coordination (unless of course the whole strategically is contingent on us truly being capable of making X moves and if we can't, then we truly have an alternative direction we'd take). That said, you can't wait too long if that really was what you'd do because the market of suitors would dry up.

QUOTE (dayan024 @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 01:09 PM) Source: #Athletics still pondering options with Lawrie. No deal with #WhiteSox yet. Different scenarios in play. @ken_rosenthal This is the A's now putting pressure on the Sox to close the deal (as they also want to move on and thus are going to tell Sox...put up or shut up..we have other offers and aren't going to keep waiting while you see if you can pull Frazier).

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 01:07 PM) I don't think the White Sox will trade for Frazier. I don't think the price tag comes down low enough. Either they are trying to get something that will go with the Lawrie trade, or they are trying to lower the price tag. That is my opinion. I think it is more that 3B target A is Frazier and target B is Lawrie (could have been some other targets in between that have already been determined as off limits) and right now the Sox are wanting to make a decision so they can move forward with their next pieces and are holding out to see if target A is at all a possibility before finalizing deal B.

QUOTE (glangon @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 01:04 PM) Davidson, Avi and Webb. Get it done. The Sox have acquired Glenn frazier. Maybe he can play...but they aren't even answering a phone call with that offer, imo.

Get back on topic. The s*** has been flushed down the toilet and I don't want to see anymore of it prop back up in here. This conversation has nothing to do with Dunn anymore and focal point should be elsewhere. If people want to discuss Dunn and Thome, A, keep it professional, and B create a new thread to discuss it.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 12:41 PM) Judging by the returns on Miller and Kimbrel, Anderson isn't an overask. I think they'd want more than just Anderson. My presumption is they'd be starting the conversation at Anderson / Fullmer. I honestly don't know that they budge from their. Reds would probably settle for a package built around Anderson, Johnson +. I don't know whether the Sox would.

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 12:38 PM) He might be underrated and unknown among baseball fans, but I'm pretty positive baseball front offices know how valuable he is. They wouldn't be very good at their jobs if they didn't. Well you have to remember, their is a theory in baseball, power pitching is king and that becomes even more critical in post-season ball. I haven't evaluated the stats but I remember some baseball people saying their is some statistical significance in the fact that power pitchers are more likely to pitch better in the postseason than non power pitchers. A lot of that is probably driven by the fact that power pitchers tend to miss more bats which is an even better thing in the playoffs where the teams tend to have better bats / players. Yes, people have moved a lot to stats, but if you ask someone who they'd rather have, pitcher A who has Q's stats or pitcher B who has similar stats to Q but throws 98, every one of them will probably tell you Pitcher A (assuming contracts are equal). In fact, in many cases, even if stats were slightly off, they'd take pitcher A because of the "stuff" factor, imo.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 11:50 AM) Agree totally. Dave Dombrowski makes a lot of sense in a case like this. Except Dom is the guy who gets the Ace with the power stuff. I don't see him overpaying for Q. I could see him overpaying for Sale but not Q. Q is quietly one of the best pitchers in baseball and a bargain, but that "quietly" part is going to prevent people from overpaying for him (imo).

Interesting. Is it pretty seamless. I had two years of dropbox free and that was my favorite, but the two years is ending. I have since moved over to Amazon Photos which works nice (unlimited with prime) but the integration isn't as crisp as with dropbox, imo. All this said, I am two weeks into my new iphone (leaving the Samsung world) and holy hell am I happier.

MLB recommending more protective netting by dugouts
Chisoxfn replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I am hugely in favor of this. -
I've been wondering if part of the reasons for the impasses and these leaks are a combo of the Sox wanting the Reds to know they are close on something, so if they want to move Frazier at whatever the Sox price is, do it now or we will move in another direction. I'm also presuming A's want it out their to potentially see if other clubs want to swoop in.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 08:34 AM) Could be flash memory corruption since it's not allowing you to write to the partition...should ask her what apps she was using to do photos...even on my iPhone I use Google Photos...because I take a photo with my iPhone and Google Photos automatically backs it up to the cloud, for free. What are the space limitations?

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 10:16 PM) Gonna guess Jaye is one since he was left off 40 man and is eligible to be taken in Rule 5 draft and looking at his numbers from last year might get taken and stashed in someone's bullpen for a year. Maybe Beck as other one? I can live with Jaye and Beck for Lawrie. Good call. Beck and Hawkins could be the package too. I think solid chance on beck being one of the guys.

QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 10:15 PM) Is this done? Supposedly sox getting Lawrie is near done but names not yet finalized for whose headed to Oakland.

William Ladson @washingnats 58s58 seconds ago Congratulations to my pal, Willie Harris, who is now a hitting coach in the White Sox’s minor league system. Low A.

Montas or Johnson sound like overpay. Could see Hawkins plus an arm. Maybe Myles Jay. Would be surprised if caliber of Adams or montas or Johnson but what do I know.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 10:03 PM) Tell me why you like Lawrie and would OK giving up good prospects for him. Just curious. IMO the ONLY thing he has going for him is his age. 16 hr last year and 12 in only seventh games the yer before. Dude has pop and offensive talent. He also is a head case but his stats are far better then Gordon or avi and he does it at 3b, a position which is pretty weak overall in baseball right now. The other options are also fairly limited. He clearly is an upgrade over what we had and still has potential upside. Other than attitude issues, has he had any off the field problems?
-
Lawrie isn't perfect but if cost is right I can accept. It is an upgrade and potential longer term fit at a position that has crap on the fa market.
-
QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 09:44 PM) Lawrie to Sox has legs Have you heard any names as to who Oakland is targeting?
-
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 09:49 PM) Because it will happen or Erik Johnson. I am now worried Personally I'd rather deal Danish than Johnson. Johnson could be the guy though. I think sox are too down on him after his bounce back season. I thought he looked good with the club last year. Desperately need an upgrade at third though. Lawrie is crazy though. Still he is also talented and under control. I hope it is a package built around avi but nothing about avi screams beanes style other than it would be a buy low move.
-
New thread is perfect. Figured this was the more realistic route the sox would take. Curious who is headed the other way? Avi? Prospects?

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 08:09 PM) No wonder I didn't see his post. Thanks a lot! Nah...that had nothing to do with it. I just cleared the posts a couple minutes ago. You were just blind Hahaha. Just a little quick with your scroll finger.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 07:11 PM) Probably safe to assume he missed it. No big deal. If everyone can try to keep this thread to just tweets and not too much analysis that'd be best. If you want to talk about one of the tweets in a more expansive fashion we encourage you to start a new thread centered on it. Echo what rabbit said. I cleared a bunch of stuff into a separate thread.
