  1. Why you can draft Caleb, sign a center and draft a tackle at 9.
  2. Well written - to me it is simple. Fields has 35 plus starts - I can’t think of any where he had a dominant 4th quarter. Any. Maybe I’m missing something but that is damn near incredible. Point blank - he isn’t elite. He’s meh but I get why if I were another team who didn’t have a top 5 pick I would be willing to take a chance on him and trade a 2nd rounder. Cause physically his tools and personality are awesome.
  3. The bears also had a qb who was a year younger with massive physical tools who you could squint and see a superstar. This year I think you would have to be hit in the head a few times before you could quint and say with a straight face Justin can be a top 5 qb. I hope Bears had Stroud top on their board but just saw the value in sticking with Fields and taking a haul as the smarter play than.
  4. Fields isn’t a multiplier. He does not make others better. He isn’t the qb who turns lemons into lemonade with his arm. Yes he can make big plays, but flat out he isn’t good enough. Today was open and shut. Against good zone defenses he has zero chance. His weakness is glaring and as much as I like his work ethic, I Hope Bears are moving on. They need to strive for better. not saying it has to be at 1-1 but they need to take a qb early. If they want to roll with fields too and create a real competition fine by me, but you can’t stay status quo at qb. I also need Bears to make a move for a new coach cause Flus is like Fields - just ok.
  5. I’ll tell you what…I watch Stroud play and think, Bears don’t have a qb like that. How can anyone watch Fields and see someone like Stroud. And it isn’t like the Texans were some loaded team. Some like excuses, but elite qbs make everyone around them better. I don’t think Justin makes anyone better - but I do admit he has elite physical attributes. In my mind, to win and ask sustainably win, you need a guy like that.
  6. McCarthy is the perfect draft and sit candidate in my opinion. Tons of tools but definitely needs a year or two off. I think the combo of him, Fields and Bagent is fine with me if they want to go that route.
  7. I am fine with that idea. Competition is huge in nfl. If fields takes next step who cares if you took a later first or a 2nd on a qb. Shoot you could always trade them after they had a season behind if you really needed to.
  8. I think if other teams at 9/10/11 are making huge offers than it presses Patriots to give up 3 a 2nd and a next year first at a minimum. Maybe one more 2nd (like two years from now). But no they aren’t getting 2 future 1sts plus 3…in fact if they are that means Williams has measured 6’1 and blew everyone away with the deep assessment of his intangibles (cause his physical skills are special - only question is leadership and character and work ethic and what they learn from deep review and analysis). I still think my preference is to take the qb, but I get it if they trade again.
  9. If they don’t - than I think that effects Bears choice too, in sense that they trade Fields and draft a qb at 1.
  10. Because someone will move ahead of New England. So if New England thinks 1 and 3 qbs are same - fine, but if not, they need to move up to get their guy. Same with Washington or whomever.
  11. But moving down 2 spots and getting future 1st and than taking Marvin and seeing how Fields does with more weapons is fine with me.
  12. If Williams has strong intangibles (that is what I don’t know), than I still think I lean toward Williams. But I am also fine with a trade down. What I don’t want is drafting Marvin at 1. Taking a wideout at 1, no matter how good they might be is stupid in my mind.
  13. Penix was throwing dimes. I don’t love him cause of his age but he played a great game when it mattered most and he was throwing guys open.
  14. Not happening. Chargers have cheap owners and lousy owners. Not saying Mccaskeys are great but compared to chargers ownership they are Robert Kraft.
  15. If I am the Bears and I can get Harbaugh you do it. Need Warren and poles to do like a top secret quiet push and if not there than move on. Same if Beli or Payton was interested. I hesitate with Beli but screw it he is going to go somewhere with a huge chip on his shoulder.
  16. I would love Sunday to mean something - even if it is a few percent chance. Would be fun.
  17. It isn’t what I would do but if they are staying with Fields and Flus and trying a new oc…I just ask they don’t make a selection with their top pick and do another trade back to continue to stockpile and build a really good football team with lots of assets.
  18. Maybe with the playoffs expanding they should just have a couple post season bowl games or make the bowl games the first game of the following season - so bowl games kick off the season.
  19. I have no clue if any of these qbs will be really good or not - but I do know that in 3 years Fields has shown he isn’t a good passer. And I’m not about to sign him for 40M. The past few weeks have not been very good to him - he has just not played very well in my mind. Missing a lot of easy throws and just too slow to make reads. I hope I’m wrong cause nothing would make me happier than him being the guy for the Bears…I just don’t see it.
  20. I mean if Denver moves in from Wilson and Payton in the same offseason - how much coin did they lose. I can’t see an owner paying that much for those two to not be associated with their franchise.
  21. Yeah - I’ll take Sean Payton, even if he is overly harsh - he has a track record and sets a standard. I am fine with Payton, Harbaugh or Belicheck.
  22. So I get people questioning the rookie class - but I don’t get the Fields defense: Meanwhile - in 3 NFL seasons - Justin Fields consistently makes routine throws look difficult. We talk about his downfield passing attack - yet the Bears rank 27th in downfield passing advanced stats (despite having Moore). And we can knock Mooney but Fields has consistently missed Mooney down the field. Point blank - Fields has shown one thing - he is a mediocre to poor NFL passer, a hard working dude, and a stellar physical athlete at the position. Unfortunately the poor NFL passer hinders everything else and you really can't win consistently without making massive strides. Oh and by the way - this is the same knock he had coming out of college and why he fell in the draft (as teams worried how Fields couldn't show the progression progress in his final season at OSU). Why we as Bears fans like to make excuses for Fields and not hold him accountable is beyond me. But reality is - this is a guy who outside of a few games has consistently looked like a poor passing NFL QB with elite athleticism. If it weren't for the elite athleticism he would have been benched a year ago and been talked about like Zach Wilson (who is a historic bust). Him and Lance are why I would never go early on a small school QB. If you listened to Mark Sanchez the last 2 weeks - you could hear it in his announcing. He toes the line and I get it, its Mark Sanchez, but lets not forget that he knows a heck of a lot more than us. Sanchez was consistently showing Fields being off rhythm and off timing. And no - I don't think Getsy is a very good OC - but I think a really good QB can make a mediocre OC look good more so than a really bad OC can make a top notch QB look bad. Read that a few times - I think a good OC can absolutely help - but Fields has flat out looked BAD as a passer for 3 years. I think at best a good OC could make him look decent - is decent really what we are striving for. And I get it - if I were the Falcons or someone else - I might take a shot and see what could happen and design an entire offense around him, but with the Bears being where they are - they don't have to take a Hail Mary at Fields, they have a ton of options.
  23. So my ideal season would have had Fields stepping up and being a top 7 QB. I am on record as saying he isn’t that and he hasn’t shown anything to me to say there is 50 percent chance he becomes it. Quite frankly he is so poor in the middle of the field and on regular timing plays that I suspect he won’t be more than a 12-20 ranked qb but I admit there might be a 5 percent chance he puts it together and maximizes his physical tools which are top 7. But with what he has shown this year, or what he hasn’t shown, I am squarely in the draft a qb camp. I probably say screw it and draft the guy at 1 but I also get that these assessments are total crapshoots so I am kind of intrigued by the Commanders. Commanders are at 3 - hungry owner - does he want Williams so badly Bears could get an absolute haul, move down 2 spots and basically take the 2nd qb while getting a ton of extra draft capital and a player. Part of me says don’t get cute, but so many drafts in last decade has the best qb not been the first one. Odds are at 3 - if Washington stays there - you are getting 2nd best qb with Arizona grabbing MHJ at 2.
