  1. If Caleb’s dad was as bad as described something would have come out from legit USC sources. His dad pushed him and has pushed him and clearly is involved but so far he isn’t Lavar. That isn’t to say he can’t be - but he wasn’t a pain around USC and if he was it was swept under the rug.
  2. Maybe Green Bay is better than we think and that loss wasn’t crazy. What if a team with a qb decides they want to dangle their qb and picks to draft a new one?
  3. At this point I would be stunned if the don’t take a qb at 1. Whether they get the right one or not I don’t know.
  4. Absolutely pathetic - sickens me fans would do that.
  5. I am presuming QB goes 1-2-3, so if you have a list and you grade 3 similarly, the furthest you can drop is 3 spots. You also have Falcons at 8, who I presume are taking a QB if one of those 3 was there (so Bears would have to move up). I guess the question is - if you move back 1-2 spots, do you have enough draft capital to than move back up and get a wideout, whether Harrison or others (without mortgaging the farm). So moving back assures you get Top 2 QB & Top 2 wideout. I have to imagine Chargers & Cardinals, currently sitting at 4/5 are taking a wideout. Giants sitting at 6 are interesting - I could see them going oline (although they also have a clear need at wideout - so could see Harrison, Washington Receiver & Naybors (LSU) all being off the board by 6. Reality is - for Bears to get one of the top wideouts at 9 (and I think there are 3 legit Top 10 wideouts in this draft) - they need 3 QB's to go off the board before them (a 4th going would be even better - but I don't see 4 going in Top 10 - unless Atlanta falls in love with JJ McCarthy or Penix). They need the 2 LT's to be drafted, 2 WR's I see for sure being gone, and you need at least one defensive player selected (Verse or Dallas Turner or a surprise). I think worse case scenario for the Bears is - you take your QB at the top, all 3 WR's are of the board, & both LT's are off the board - leaving you looking at taking the best edge player at 9. I say that in the sense that this doesn't seem like a year where you have a no brainer edge player, not that the Bears don't have a need at this spot. But if this works out - this could be where the Bears actually slide back down a few slides - move into the mid teens. But my early Mock Draft is - Bears aren't cute: Draft Caleb @ 1 Draft Odunze @ 9
  6. Jayden Daniels is growing on me if they opted down 1-2 spots and punted on Williams. He has a TON of experience and clearly has improved as a passer each season. He has size and is clearly an athlete. Development wise he is on the older side (23) - but you can see clear progression from his time at ASU to LSU and as a passer his accuracy, etc improved. I think of it the opposite of Fields - he really showed minimal improvements in college - got to the NFL - and he has basically been the same guy in the NFL as well. Daniels is different - presuming the physical tools are there - you see a much more upward trajectory in college, including playing in the SEC at a high level (not sure what to think of Kelly's scheme and how that translates to the NFL though). Drake Maye - does he end up being like Herbert. Physically dude has all the tools - at college it's been a mixed bag, but when you surround him with more NFL caliber talent - do you see him make like an immediate next step as a pro. It really is a strong crop of prospects.
  7. Did I read those stats accordingly. Starting on Right Side: Basically - both our QB and Oline are pretty-bad. So Non-QB pressure we rate poorly, but he is also really poor and creates his own "pressure". Basically 7th worse in the league (is where Fields is) where as the oline is 9th worse. yet the % that is OL responsibility is very favorable (how does that add up with being really bad at Non QB pressures). The bright side is our LG (Jenkins) and RT (Wright) are good...the LT and RG are mediocre and center is bad (passes my eye test). The % other responsibility is pretty massive - does that mean our RB's are terrible blockers or is that like not being set-up appropriately? Looking at the Left: Fields is good at maximizing time on the scramble - the next question is how effective is he actually making plays on the scramble (relative to expectation). Clearly in side the pocket he is bad and this also highlights he does not throw into tight coverage. On one hand - that should be good - fewer picks, downfall is, to win in this league you got to throw guys open and have conviction making tight window throws. Fields clearly doesn't have it. And from an expected completion percentage - he flat out executes poorly. Ranking 45th of QB's which is clearly AWFUL.
  8. This seems like a perfect move to add a potential young asset. Why did Dodgers do this? They just looking to shed payroll or just not a roster fit for Busch so they wanted something prospect wise.
  9. PS: Not saying that the non Mooney guys are any good. Mooney - I just don't know how much the injury impacted him. Did he loose that much speed or what? Cause he was a darn good #2 up until his injury so I don't' know what to think about his dissapearance (but he was a 1K receiver with some other seasons close to it before the dissapearing act). I kind of expect he'll bounce back next year wherever he ends up - as he'll have a normal off-season to recover and regain his health, but I recall some concerns around his injury and how it would impact his game (given he relied on elite quickness).
  10. Very rarely do you see him throw guys open - like very rarely. My favorite ball all game was a pass over middle to St. Brown. If he consistently hit that pass - dang he would be dangerous and given fact someone has to spy Fields - the middle of the field SHOULD be open yet Bears can't take advantage of it at all - despite having a number of guys who should be good in the slot/middle of field (Moore / Mooney / Scott / Kmet). All of those guys are middle of the field options.
  11. I'm trying to get out to an NFL game per year...where I see the Bears...usually on the road, but using it to kind of target a new city for our family to visit including a game day. This would be a fun one but I think I heard the ticket price(s) are nuts.
  12. WTF - First Pete, now Saban retiring. Shocker.
  13. Poles is always a bit goofy in his press conferences - but I respect that unlike Pace, he actually gets up there throughout the season, etc. His Stroud answer he clearly was not comfortable answering. I think he meant to say - we had Field(s) in house and a massive offer. At the time - Fields graded out or had similar upside and we had a chance to take both. but I think if he answered fully honest he also would have given up some leverage.
  14. In fairness - Harbaugh could have said it is going to take 20M over 8 years (so 160M guaranteed) and McCaskey said - I love you, but not happening. And quite frankly - that doesn't surprise me. It's same reason I don't think he ends up in San Diego. Whatever franchise lands Harbaugh - has to have one of those owners who is crazy rich. McCaskeys just aren't that fit.
  15. Warren is impressive on the podium. Doesn't mean he is good at his job - but he has been impressive and smooth up there.
  16. And there is zero reason for him to answer it with a yes anyway. It's like asking have you talked to any pending free agents. He could say no - but I'm sure somewhere they have already had some dialogue with agents and other areas to have an idea on who is more likely to hit FA and who isn't, etc. Just like I'm sure they have done due diligence already on potential top draft picks, even though that work will accelerate and get even clear(er) now that you know where you are picking.
  17. Just playing devil(s) advocate here. And I have no idea whether Poles / Warren did or didn't talk to anyone. But do you really think if they did - they would say it in a press conference right now. Other than check a box for the fans, that does NOTHING worthwhile for the franchise. It undermines Eberflus and is a bad look too for any coach who maybe had a back line convo. If the Bears talked to Harbaugh and found out he wasn't interested or was too expensive - we won't know that for a while when someone eventually leaks it. But it won't come from Poles or Warren. And they very well might have done nothing - but lets not act like Poles doesn't know a ton of people. All of these people are football people so they are having convo(s) all the time and know people all over the league. It's a small league. It's like at work - I know everyone across our different business units that do similar roles as me and as members of my team. When I have an opening or make a change, I can do it without talking to anyone at times - cause I already know or have an idea (and say - hey I'm going outside cause I don't like my internal options) or hey I am going to post inside and I already have an idea that this person is a great fit.
  18. Warren is 5 times more credible a speaker than Ted was. I will say that. Warren was the best of the 3 on stage - not saying he said a ton, but from a statement perspective, his was the strongest and it's clear he has perspective.
  19. From a leverage perspective - I walk away from this thinking it is 60/40 they stick with Fields, which might have been strategic. Is going to force a team wanting #1 to blow them away and also force a team interested in Fields to call them with a pretty strong offer. But I get a sense from Poles of - I want to build a really good football team and he didn't seem as concerned with QB as maybe Ryan Pace was. He seems like - I'll build a really good team and keep doing it and will figure out QB, whether Fields or someone else. Don't get the sense that it has to be with #1 pick.
  20. I heard a few things on this: Braxton is a starting LT Ryan Poles things pretty highly of Justin Fields Note: On the Fields part, I may be wrong, but on the Jones part - I think Poles is proud of hitting on him and he isn't taking an LT in the top 10 this year.
  21. There we go - Flus talked about Fields. Exactly what I expected - both Flus and Poles basically said nothing on Fields, which strategically is right thing.
  22. I zoned out for a second - did Flus mention Justin Fields? I'm actually surprised right now just how much we are hearing from Flus right now (and how short Poles was).
  23. Their running backs coach is also out and the assistant TE coach. I think I'm confused? They basically got rid of all the major offensive coaches with two exceptions (TE coach and Oline coach)....presuming because feedback was very positive on them, so they are retaining them and will allow the new OC to make a decision. I don't see anything wrong with that.
