  1. I agree - it’s why when people say get MHJ and than find qb or ignore that I think they are crazy. With that said - when you have a chance to surround them with more talent you should. Mahomes started his career with prime Kelce and Tyreek. Burrows benefited from Tee and Chase. Dak has talent. Hurts has Brown and Smith.
  2. So last year - I was all about the super trade - move down to 2 - than get another haul to move further down. I actually think of all the places I frequent - a year ago I was one of the first to mention such a thing (than Poles and the NFL media started doing it - and no - not because of me). This year - I am all about the - Caleb & WR train - but after seeing yesterday's absurd mock but than Balta's more realistic proposals. I am really all in on the Caleb and MHJ train. I'd even go further to say - use next pick on best center available - use another pick on a wideout (or FA money) and than while we are kind of ignoring defense in the draft....use our FA money on pass rush and than assess what we do at safety. I expect bumps with Caleb (or any rookie QB) - but you hope by 2H of '24 you really see a QB who is elevating his game and showing what he can be. Clearly best case is he plays like Stroud - but if Caleb does that than next year you still have your assets and should actually still be in a good cap position to than get back to drafting the defensive side as well as potentially making a play at LT.
  3. Maybe this is a good sign - they plan on cleaning a lot up but really are positive / hopeful they will be in a better position a year from now to really be turning the trajectory (not saying we will be talking about a playoff team next year - but maybe last year and part of this year is the rock bottom and than they start moving up - new stadium becomes official, some younger prospects start to take off, they make a few more moves to improve young talent in system (at a cost of ML talent of course) and than we see them start to making some better investments into the franchise. I still expect a rough couple of years - but as pessimistic as I have become (which is hard for me to say cause I'm an optimist) - I haven't had much issue with most of what Getz has been doing.
  4. I hate trading up in general - but in this scenario, I think I would. Just because I think MHJ and Caleb paired together is just so worth it. I really hate giving up #75 (just because they got to get a center). I can kind of justify the future 2nd cause they have the Panthers and there own.
  5. Yeah - forget all the other picks - if you could move #9 and Fields for #3 - run to the bank and be happy.
  6. Welp - this is the mock draft of all mock drafts. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/mock-draft-fields-headed-patriots-162604963.html Caleb at 1 MHJ at 3 (Bears trade up with New England giving up #9, Fields and 2025 6th rounder; Bears get back #3 pick, 4th rounder, and 2025 3rd and 5th rounder) Note: This would be a coup de coup. I don't believe for one second what the author proposes is realistic, but boy would I be happy. I presume only way this type of haul happens is if there is at least a mid to late 1st round grade applied to Fields.
  7. He should go to Chargers. I am a huge Vrabel fan - but I wouldn't recommend him as our DC given the exact reason you mentioned. I don't think it sets anyone up for success. Ron Rivera is same boat for me. Flus is the HC and Defensive guy - he does need to bring in someone who can help him though.
  8. My near fear is Ferentz will tab Getsy as Iowa's new OC. It seems clear to me from the timing of things that I think Ferentz is going to pull an NFL assistant as his OC (I thought it would have been Chryst or whatever the old Wisconsin coaches name was).
  9. I'm with you, I think this is a really solid hire. I'm not saying he's the greatest OC in the world - but he's experience and has a solid track-record. He worked with a HOF HC in Carroll and obviously Pete had his views but Shane ran the show from play calling on down and so we are getting a seasoned individual who knows what to do. I love some of the articles I've seen out there in terms of Waldron having a track record in helping QB's speed up decision/making & process time and clearly Geno Smith made huge leaps forward from his Jets days (how much of that is due to Waldron vs. his staff vs. Geno's hard work - who knows - but on paper its a positive). Wilson also was quicker getting ball out under Waldron. I also don't think he's the next Sean McVay or Shanny or Reid - but I think that is okay. Having a really solid and stable guy who knows what he is doing is great - whether it is looking to get more out of Justin or looking to build a solid structure for development around a rookie QB. I'm also presuming we will see Greg Olsen emerge as the QB coach - again, I didn't like Olsen as an OC - but what I love about Olsen is him and Waldron worked together - they have a built in trust, so I suspect that means the risk that you have too many voices gets reduced (that isn't to say you don't want different perspectives - you do - but you want them grounded in similar principles otherwise you kind of get to information overload which I think negatively impacted Bryce Young with what Panthers did this year but also back to Eagles with Carson Wentz). Bottom Line: They are hiring a respectable, proven OC, who is also young and should have credibility to go get quality offensive assistants too.
  10. Good game. Was really rooting for Bills, but Mahomes sure is legit.
  11. It’s the only magazine I subscribe to - sports illustrated for kids for my kids. Was a Groupon or something - my kids looked forward to it every month. I’ll now probably get billed for another 50 years lol.
  12. It also just hit me Kingsbuy worked with Mahomes at Texas Tech and I recall Mahomes had pretty favorable comments about Kliff.
  13. I am kind of excited by the OC process so far. Really Olsen and Roman (if you draft a new qb) are the only two candidates I don’t want as OC. But I am good with Olsen / Roman as qb coach and run game coordinator. I ripped Kingsbury as HC forever but the concept and idea of him as an OC is really growing on me. And if nothing else / they should get some good intel on Caleb, but more importantly he has done a lot of innovative things on offense, has tons of experience calling plays, has had at least some success creating successful nfl offenses (yes he also was HC for some epic Eagle like end of season collapses). He also just spent a year with an offensive guru in Lincoln Riley.
  14. This is awesome - maybe jr wants the deal set and than will sell with the principles in place and let the new owner take it from there?
  15. I just assume we'll get one 2nd rounder back when we trade Field(s) - but hopefully I'm not too optimistic there.
  16. I think one thing we have learned - you have to be careful too around having too many people in the room as well. You don't want 3 different voices in a QB's ear - you really want to make sure you have 1 really good OC who is comfortable and smart and than he needs to have a really strong relationship with the QB coach (both the OC and QB need strong relationships with that person). Cause if they don't - than mixed messaging will happen or too much over think will happen. Such a delicate balance.
  17. Or his 4th year was seriously impacted by him playing very hurt. Not sure what to make of his time in Carolina - it was short lived and obviously not good. But Baker's 1st and 3rd years were pretty good. He's an interesting example of a #1 overall pick who didn't get a ton of runway. Just look up his stats vs. Trevor Lawrence's first 3 years. Just looked - i forgot how good Lawrence was last year - he really regressed with turnovers in year 3 (2nd year in same system).
  18. On your other point - If someone had a crystal ball and told me we could for sure get Higgins, even if it was an overpay, I would say do that, than target best defensive player or tackle in the draft (if going defensive - I'd say a slight trade back would even be acceptable). I think Bears can afford to pay Higgins, Moore, Sweat, Johnson, and Kmet given fact that they would have a lot of other players on rookie deals - including the QB (I'm just assuming the 1st pick Bears make is QB at this point). You would have a QB and your OT's on rookie deals and Higgins/Moore is a pretty good combo. I would still add yet another WR later in the draft though (given how deep of a WR draft this is).
  19. I think the worse case scenario is 2 QB's go in top 8 and no defensive players go. If that is the case - than I think this is what is there at 9. Gone: QB: 2 (Williams / May) WR: 3 (MHJ / Nabers / Rome) OTs: 2 (Alt / Fashanu) TBD: Who else goes if it is no defensive? I don't know at this point. I would be kind of hard shocked that a 3rd QB doesn't go - you would suspect Atlanta would take one at 8. Bears Options: Take best defensive player on the board or trade down? What I think happens: Gone: 3 QB's Gone: 2 WR's Gone: 1 Defensive Player Gone: 1 Tackle This would leave the Bears with the potential choice of two of this group: Brockers, One of the LT's, One of the Top 3 Wideouts or the next best defensive player. My big assumption here is one of the defensive players goes. It could very well be no defensive players goes - which means if Bears are looking offense they would only have their shot at one of the group of Brockers, a top 3 wideout, or one of the Top 2 OT's.
  20. They are going to fire their coach too. Maybe Poles was smart cause If Eagles and Cowboys open up that is a massive number of openings.
  21. Is this a - what would you do with Justin interview? If they hire Roman to me that means they are rolling with Justin for a year. I wouldn’t love Roman with any of the other qbs.
